Blue label smirnoff is very nice too, sorts the men from the boys. Just ask my brother :p

Best night out I have had was in a Vodka bar in Milan - they sold nothing else but Vodka, about 30 or so versions. Everybody in the bar looked like they were out of that Southern Comfort advert! (apart from us!), whilst there I met Pierluigi Casiraghi's cousin who was drop dead gorgeous ( a woman I hasten to add)

There is very little difference between a £8 bottle of vodka and an £80 bottle.

It's all marketing hype.

Vodka is made from neutral grain spirit (~96.2% vol.) which is virtually pure and is watered down with either cheap water or posh water.

I used to make the neutral spirit and test its purity.

The number of times it gets distilled through the Charcoals, the less of a hangover you will get, Triple distilled Smirnof will taste better than the House brand Odessa (which makes you go Blind)

Lawn clippings in the bottle are optional.

Triple distillation is nothing to do with the charcoal - that's for filtering later.

Triple means 3 columns, eg. concentration, rectification, fusel oil and demeth.

I need to add a caveat here:

All UK produced vodka is pretty much the same except the strength.

So a supermarket brand will be as good as named brands.

Posh vodkas in posh bottles will be nowhere near better enough to justify their higher price.

Anything from Eastern Europe should be regarded with suspicion. They can be impure, especially high levels of methanol - makes you blind.

Vodka by definition cannot be improved upon much once you reach a certain standard, unlike whisky, brandy, rum and just about every other spirit.
