I really think they are tremendous value for money.

Two strapping lads spiriting whole carpets up and down two flights of stairs as if they were weightless and all this for half the price a plumber would charge to ring the doorbell.

They certainly are, and they don't hang about either - obviously they might if I had more to offer than tea and a kitkat.

I love the comparison of a skilled tradesman to a bloke carrying a rolled up carpet
Report TheRankingMissP • January 2, 2010 11:16 AM GMT
The way they just rip up the old carpet as if it was a sweet wrapper is astounding!

I tried for ages to get up a corner to see what condition the underlay was in and had to give up and have a lie down.

They clearly brought 2 magpies.

In my experience, only about a third of plumbers deserve to be described as anything close to a skilled tradesman.

I have to agree with you there HRH.

Miss P - I'm now printing this page as it will probably never happen again :)

Should I ask them to?
Report Lisa Simpson • January 2, 2010 11:27 AM GMT
Is that a euphamism?

Carpets are so last century.
Report TheRankingMissP • January 2, 2010 11:29 AM GMT
Look - Lisa - a magpie!

I'm also a little concerned that no rival 'Aren't carpet munchers amazing?' thread hasn't been started yet. The end of Chit Chat is nigh imo. Maybe most of the usual suspects are doing their community service during daylight hours.

Idiots. (Not you) Dirt cheap isn't it?
Report TheRankingMissP • January 2, 2010 11:33 AM GMT
No, it was going to be about 10K each!
Report everythings gone green • January 2, 2010 11:34 AM GMT
Oh I thought it was around £1000 per property. Have you only got a short lease left then?
Report everythings gone green • January 2, 2010 11:35 AM GMT
Or maybe someone was telling me about flats in Glasgow or something.
Report TheRankingMissP • January 2, 2010 11:37 AM GMT
...And they're done!

So the whole procedure took about twenty minutes.
