Johnny Depp leading a great cast. Cost hundreds of millions to make. Big box office hit. And they give it 2 stars. Very strange.

Wonder what their reviewers gave it when it first came out.

Sure a lot of money changes hands to the people who review these things in the first place.

Ripping yarns. 5 stars
Report fuzzyone • December 26, 2009 3:53 PM GMT
Absolute gash and totally over-acted tripe imo. Depp got more recognition for this sh1te than many of his other roles, madness.
Report Hearts.no1 • December 26, 2009 4:25 PM GMT
tbf a 2 star rating was overly genourous imo.

This was the only film I have ever fallen a sleep at the cinema while watching. so instead of a 2 I give it a ZZZ
Report Slippy Blue • December 26, 2009 5:42 PM GMT
A complete nonsense of a film, I would give it 0.1 stars and that´s only because I like Keira Knightley but then middle aged gamblers are probably not the target audience it has to be said.
Report backtolay • December 26, 2009 5:44 PM GMT
2 stars generous IMO, too may movies made now purely to get a theme park and rollercoaseter up and running.

Awful film.

You lot are the types who would agree with the Radio Times giving 'TheTexas Chainsaw Massacre' 5 stars.

You probably think absolute guff like 'The Maltese Falcon' is great. You make me want to vomit.
Report Diamond_Joe_Quimby • December 26, 2009 6:33 PM GMT
knightley is a kak actress.

but I think these days she has lost weight since that film and now looks skinny and gaunt?

In fact, I would say they are some of the best films ever made. Good cast, great effects.

Wur's got it right. You lot probably watch some subtitled Polish carp and think it's art.

Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 31, 2009 8:22 PM GMT
the first one had a story & effects,I liked it a lot.

The 2nd one was a follow up with effects. The 3rd was absolute garbage.

Very enjoyable romp this IMO, some imaginative ideas with the action scenes, and they clearly enjoyed making it. Not a classic, but great fun!

I should point out that this is a resurrected thread because Pirates 2 was on last night. It gets 3 stars in RT. Thee BBC seem to be showing the trilogy in reverse. Pirates 3 was the one I originally posted about over Xmas.
