Micro Men 21:05 BBC4 - Spectrum Fans/ Old School Computing Fans

yeah was quality

loved it. jet set wiily and all

Agreed, well worth a watch. Used to have a speccy myself with the rubber keys, much better than the rubbish you get nowadays ;-)

i had a ZX81 and ZX48K, both useless! games crashed all the time but fun nonetheless..

Had a zx81 , moved on to a dragon 32 / then 64 , carp amstrad, then to my beloved Amiga ( best ever )

i seem to remember when this was first on Charlie Brooker did a programme on computer games that night as well which was excellent

ah thats on tonight as well at 23:30 BBC4

Charlie Brooker sets his caustic sights on video games. Expect acerbic comment as he looks at the various genres, how they have changed since their early conception and how the media represents games and gamers.

Worthwhile watch.

thanks for the heads up
had a zx81 back in the old days
with the kempson joystick

same here,, did you have the extra ram pack

daley thompsons decathlon, knightlore, barry mcguigans boxing, raid on entebbe,,,,those were the days

the trouble you had to go to some times to load a game through the tape recorder would get you an A Level in computing now

i broke my first spectrum by plugging in the joystick while it was switched on
gutted cost a lot back then

great progress in computer/video games
take highrise the level in cod modern warfare 2
try playing a level on your own and listein to the wind howling around you

how times have changed since then. back then i was watching little men run around like headless chickens on football manager. today im umm watching little men run around like headless chickens on football manager.

I have a zx+2 in the attic

I was a 1k ZX81 man myself, could do nothing with but learn to program. Progressed to ZX Spectrum then Amiga 600 and 1200 before finally getting my first PC.

Manic Miner still ranks one of my favourite games, I spent hundreds of hours on it, level 16 was my highest.

3D monster maze
Pi-Mania (where the reverse side of the cassette tape was the song)
NUFF SAID

If you really want to get nostalgic...

No Ultimate games alas, so no JetPac, Atic Atac etc, but plenty to remind you you of the good old days. Chuckie Egg, anyone?

i still have nightmares about manic miner

lol

Don't mention Jet Set Willy and Elite :)

I may watch this again if I can't find anything else.

they're both on that site ovalman. elite will always be an amiga game in my eyes though.
