Catch it i-player tomorrow if you miss it tonight
Report Ronaldinho's dentist • December 27, 2009 11:10 AM GMT
WHATS IS ALL ABOUT THEN?
Report sibaroni • December 27, 2009 11:11 AM GMT
Normal familylife Ron, but done brilliantly. Should be on earlier, my ten year old loves it.
Report STUDYFORM • December 27, 2009 11:12 AM GMT
This is the only programme I've been looking forward to all week.

Best comedy on TV for years imo
Report canaryboy • December 27, 2009 11:13 AM GMT
is it a new series?

3rd?
Report canaryboy • December 27, 2009 11:14 AM GMT
ah just a xmas special

better than nothing i suppose
Report Shirl_the_girl • December 27, 2009 11:20 AM GMT
Think I read somewhere that tonight's episode is to introduce a new series. Hope so :)
Report wit-ham • December 27, 2009 11:26 AM GMT
is it a remake of zulu?
Report STUDYFORM • December 27, 2009 11:46 AM GMT
There is a new series. Already filmed apparently.
Report TELL DEL • December 27, 2009 11:50 AM GMT
One of the best programmes on TV, the young actors are brilliant, especially the little girl
who never stops asking questions and is totally concerned about the little things in life.

Think this is the Christmas Special before a new series in the New Year,
but don't know why have they put it on so late.
Report canaryboy • December 27, 2009 11:52 AM GMT
this is my fav scene of all

It's really good.
Report weezer • December 27, 2009 12:10 PM GMT
Yeah, a very funny well observed comedy. The little girl and the youngest of the two boys are hilarious.
Report everythings gone green • December 27, 2009 12:14 PM GMT
Apparently a lot of the dialogue is ad libbed so the children don't have to stick to their lines and that makes it more natural.

Brilliant show.
Report RacingCert • December 27, 2009 12:17 PM GMT
Canaryboy ... never seen it before .......... very funny
Report salsabil5 • December 27, 2009 9:57 PM GMT
Watched the prog after reading this thread...contrived rubbish
Report yorky • December 27, 2009 9:57 PM GMT
its not as good tonight imho
Report Veck • December 27, 2009 9:59 PM GMT
S**t! I was looking forward to seeing that on the i-player. Thanks, I'll give it a pass now.

Sure? Marks out of 10?
Report everythings gone green • December 27, 2009 10:02 PM GMT
Not impressed so far, I'm 11 minutes in.
Report yorky • December 27, 2009 10:03 PM GMT
5 tonight, the kids are growing up now, not as cute
Report Veck • December 27, 2009 10:03 PM GMT
Out of 10. Must have seen it before!
Report Guybrush Threepwood • December 27, 2009 10:05 PM GMT
This show is awful. Nothing spontaneous about the jokes. You can see the kids reading off cue cards.
Report salsabil5 • December 27, 2009 10:06 PM GMT
agree ^^
Report Guybrush Threepwood • December 27, 2009 10:18 PM GMT
Terrible acting from the kids, especially that kid Ben and the girl. They clearly know how to play the game now, trying too hard to be funny. Before their conversations had innocent, subtle humour but now they are just saying obvious stupid stuff.
Report everythings gone green • December 27, 2009 10:19 PM GMT
Spot on.
Report BonViv • December 27, 2009 10:23 PM GMT
Hugh Dennis always reasonably entertaining, and there's a lot worse than this out there, but can't see who this could appeal to apart from the middle class mumsy .Undemanding though i suppose and i can only presume the millions who watch "my family" will lap it up.

I could be wrong but i genuinely thought this was more of a kids program?
Report Big Charlie • December 27, 2009 11:32 PM GMT
I've had a bad night.

Slumdog millionaire was a load of b0ll0cks, and I tuned into this as it looked like it was highly recommended by earlier posters.

It was crap.
Report Slippy Blue • December 27, 2009 11:34 PM GMT
I could have told you it was pony Big Charlie if you had asked me.
Report positively4thsteet • December 27, 2009 11:37 PM GMT
This programme is sh.t btw. Didn't watch the special but when i' ve seen bits and pieces in the past thought it was cr.ap barely a step up from "My Family"
Report TELL DEL • December 28, 2009 9:59 AM GMT
If it's cr@p, unusual for a cr@p show to pick up 3 awards at the recent British Comedy Awards:
Best Sitcom
Best Overall British Comedy
Best Female Comedy Newcomer (the little 7-y-o girl Romona Marquez)

obviously not everybody thinks it's cr@p !
Report STUDYFORM • December 28, 2009 10:04 AM GMT
You've turned into negatively 4th steet lately. Did you have a bad xmas mate?

I've recorded this to watch later, it wouldn't surprise me if, as a christmas special, it isn't as good as usual, but it's an excellent series generally.
Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:34 AM GMT
Had a great Christmas Study, hope you did too.

but the few clips i've seen just didn't amuse me. Perhaps you have to be a parent to get the jokes.
Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:36 AM GMT
tell dell:

if there is no competition then anything can pick up awards. I watched Gavin and Stacey last night thought it was really funny though everyone on here seems to slate it. Each to their own I suppose. I don't for one minute believe that any more than a tiny tiny fraction of the show is "improvised".
Report STUDYFORM • December 28, 2009 10:37 AM GMT
I don't like Gavin and Stacey :(
Report wit-ham • December 28, 2009 10:47 AM GMT
im getting old and cynical myself but have normally found that if it has won awards then to me it is not normally worth watching
but as with positivley4thstreet i dont have kids so maybe these things dont appeal to us on the whole
Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:57 AM GMT
I think that Bryn character is cra.cking. And James Corden (and I know it is sacrilege to say this out loud on here) is very funny. And it isn't really an out and out sitcom anyway, so they don't need a laugh a second. Hence the lack of, i think, canned laughter.

In fact all the characters are pretty good and well acted I think.
Report DANTHECHIP • December 28, 2009 3:42 PM GMT
It's always the same on here, anything that becomes popular with the massess gets slated........"It used to be good when I used to watch it on the obscure channel with a viewing audience of 300, it's now sold out" In other words I'm an elitist.
