In my parents house over xmas, my room was heated by this:

That electrical tape marks just one of three points in which the cable has been fused with another, and at the (round) socket there's a healthy two inches where there's no surrounding to the wires. All this and you can barely tell when it's on, I've done warmer farts.

They had a heater like that in the Three Crowns pub in North Woolwich back in the late 1980s. Not often you see darts played in sheepskin coats.
With the home team plus my lot playing away, there was probably around the region of 2.5 tonnes of us, and we found out some months later that the bar was supported by acrow-props in the cellar as the place had been condemned.
