Just stumbled across this Blu Ray player. I was going to get a Blu Ray drive for my PC but now I'm tempted to get this instead!

I think it got 5* from What Hi Fi magazine as well.

£79.95 is a bargain for a Sony Blu Ray player.

It is HD just under a different name. HD DVD is extinct anyway.

PS3 = £250. This £80 and equal too or possibly better than the PS3 blu ray player.

I've got HD though SKY.

Sky HD only runs at 720p,most blu ray discs use 1080p(higher resolution=better picture)

I was talking about discs. You're getting an HD signal for your Sky. Blu Ray is a high def format for watching films. It'll be the same picture quality (generally) as your Sky HD signal.

I'm confused :(
Report Ricardo-1 • December 27, 2009 8:38 PM GMT
1280x720=720p

1920x1080=1080p

just like your pc monitor higher resolution means more detail as there are more pixels,Sky doesnt go any higher than 720p, blu ray can play as high as 1080p,any blu ray disc you buy tells you on the back what format it runs at and you must have a 1080p tele for it to work obvisiouly

Ricardo I think sky HD is brilliant,are you saying blu-ray is better ?
Report Ricardo-1 • December 27, 2009 8:44 PM GMT
if the disc plays in 1080p format then yes

thnx

Doesn't Sky HD broadcast in 1080i as well. Sorry Hearts if I'm losing you! :)

Hearts, just imagine watching your favourite films in quality just like or better than the golf on Sky HD. Of course you will need a 1080p TV to do this.

Shrew thats what confused me,HD on sky is the dugs ** and he is saying there is something better out there ?
Report Shrew D • December 27, 2009 9:52 PM GMT
Hearts, Blu Ray is just the disc format. On Blu Ray discs you get HD pictures. These tend to be 1080p which is higher quality than the signal that Sky HD broadcasts in.

But, you do need a 1080p capable TV to be able to get the full effect.
