I've just bought a ipod from a guy in Ireland (I live in the south of England) and it's a complete fake copy that has about half a dozen basic settings and that's it. It's nothing remotely like the real thing and probably just a Thailand copy.

I've asked the guy for my money back and said I'd inform ebay, paypal etc but he just ignores my emails.

This is fraud surely and he's selling counterfeit goods. How can I get my money back? It's ok ebay suspending his account or whatever they do but he'll just start up in another name surely.

What can I do?

Welshie

I initially gave him good feedback because not knowing much about these things it 'looked' ok. As soon as my friend saw it he knew right away it was a copy.

I've paid through paypal having given him the good feedback.

How can someone blatantly do this?

Good informative thread so far.
Wd all.

your pretty well protected with paypal, all of the burden will be on the seller to prove what he sold you is genuine. It might take a while but you'll get your money back from paypal. I think theres also a way to remove feedback or change it, it might require you to contact ebay.

Also send the listing to Apple so they know that fake ipods are being sold :-)
Report WELSHIE1 • December 22, 2009 9:29 AM GMT
bit of a seller myself

i know all the feckkking tricks on ebay

anyone need any help on this landmine of a site just ask
Report BonViv • December 22, 2009 9:34 AM GMT
Just go straight to PP dispute console and raise it to a claim straight away dont other going through all the "1st stage " stuff.

They WILL grant in your favour after about 2 weeks i think.

Though pp are a vile company to deal with at least your covered for fakes.Probs only got yourself to blame though mate, nobody in the world makes money on ipods at direct retail it cannot be done and it;s not meant to be done so anything cheap you get what ya pay for.

Though i dont like seeing people ripped off that site is so utterly ridden with people trying to ponce deals it's serevs em right when they pay some silly cheap price and end up with a fake.

Welshie/ Crisp

How did you know I've sold two McCartney tickets for tonight? You must have tracked the item on ebay and found me yes? Clever.
Report Crisp77 • December 22, 2009 9:54 AM GMT
Yes Lou :^0

To be honest I was hoping to find something more scandalous...hope you enjoy the 2nd best Beatle in concert. :-)

He's by far the best Beatle in my eyes.

Never sold anything before on ebay. Managed to get four tickets and they were just amazing seats so I thought why not? Not bad for a first sale?

Can't wait for tonight ...................... "Got to get you into my Life"

Not bad at all, Ringo is the number one for me...he has to be because I look like him (I have asked my mum ;-) )
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B • December 22, 2009 10:00 AM GMT
Thanks for the help all. I think it's shocking that someone could do this. Bought the real thing yesterday from the 'apple' shop. Just got to get my mate to show me how to use it!

Saw Ringo with his 'All Starr Band' about 1998 in London. Great show and for the encore he did 'With a Little Help from my Friends' . Great stuff.
