Trying to be hip and funny

failing
Report mitchell downie • December 18, 2009 10:33 PM GMT
he was quite amusing in a foppish sort of way, but obviously doesn't like Ross.
Report Dobbo • December 18, 2009 10:33 PM GMT
Hugh Grant - actor. Just admitted he cant act and said he was boring.Great guy.
Report brendanuk1 • December 18, 2009 10:33 PM GMT
which one or both?
Report panglima • December 18, 2009 10:33 PM GMT
Apparently " what a t@sser" was spouted out by Grant on his way back to the green room
Report yorky • December 18, 2009 10:34 PM GMT
ross obviously knows the reason all his relationships have faltered, trying to make him feel small imho
Report RLKingPunter • December 18, 2009 10:34 PM GMT
and after all that he said , will you come back on the show again.
Report panglima • December 18, 2009 10:35 PM GMT
Ross gets millions for being a total kn0b, I cannot fathom that out tbh !
Report Randolph Scott • December 18, 2009 10:59 PM GMT
If Wossie was a total kn0b he would have mentioned pr0stitutes
Report mitchell downie • December 18, 2009 11:00 PM GMT
Indeed, rather ungentlemanly to bring up the phone call, bad as it was.
Report sparkmaster. • December 18, 2009 11:04 PM GMT
I thought it was quite good, tbh. Good response from Grant.
Report mitchell downie • December 18, 2009 11:05 PM GMT
below the belt imo. he did the crime and served the time. all he asked Hugh was why have you never married.
Report Kriskin • December 18, 2009 11:06 PM GMT
Good viewing
Report sparkmaster. • December 18, 2009 11:14 PM GMT
I thought it a fair question and a fair response. If you're going to probe people's personal lives, you have to expect them to give it to you back. Of course, if he was contractually obliged otherwise, action will be taken.
Report itsmyturn • December 18, 2009 11:15 PM GMT
Can't understand the attraction he is nothing but a wooden actor and a boring 8astard some guys have all the luck
Report mitchell downie • December 18, 2009 11:16 PM GMT
so if Hugh had asked Ross why did you get married, it would have been ok for Ross to mention the prostitutes? can't agree there.
Report sparkmaster. • December 18, 2009 11:20 PM GMT
I don't really have a strong opinion here, it depends on what they could reasonably have expected. Grant has of course, already been asked on a chat show about the prosititute (i believe there was one). Given his reaction, I suspect he had not agreed to answer such a question - if you think 49 year old unmarried men are that rare, try surveying chit chat, although the reason may be different. I don't blame Ross for asking it, but neither do I blame Grant for his retort.
Report mitchell downie • December 18, 2009 11:22 PM GMT
I do I'm afraid sparky. It displayed a marked lack of class.
Report sparkmaster. • December 18, 2009 11:24 PM GMT
I guess I'm just not classist.
Report plainlazy • December 18, 2009 11:31 PM GMT
i thought he was quite good...rare for anyone to fight back against mr woss..
Report Randolph Scott • December 18, 2009 11:36 PM GMT
Although charming at times Grant did come across as a bit churlish and just plain awkward at times.
I had/have no views on the man whatsoever, nor interest in the man or his carreer or past or films even, but I just got the impression that there is something slightly amiss somewhere...but as to whether i'm interested or care ...probably ...maybe heh heh.

I do like Liz Hurley tho.!!!
Report DaveEdwards • December 18, 2009 11:54 PM GMT
That whole thing of him getting caught with that pro in the USA was a set up. Think about it. Why would he have got himself into that situation???? Why do all his relationships fail????? Why did he need to make himself out to be a manly man in the eyes of the USA public???

I know an industry insider who told me this.
Report sparkmaster. • December 18, 2009 11:56 PM GMT
Is 'industry insider' your answer to another thread.
Report DaveEdwards • December 18, 2009 11:57 PM GMT
???? No, I know someone who is an actor.
Report Randolph Scott • December 19, 2009 12:00 AM GMT
Why would anyone think that the sordid interlude with the pr0stitute would further his career or convince anyone that he was manly in any way.
It tainted him a little imo.
Report DaveEdwards • December 19, 2009 12:01 AM GMT
It didn't taint him as much as the rumours about him would have done if the incident had not happened.
Report sparkmaster. • December 19, 2009 12:02 AM GMT
go on...what rumours are these? And who would have made them?
Report DaveEdwards • December 19, 2009 12:03 AM GMT
Goodnight all!

I'm reading between the lines here and am shocked YIKES heh heh heh....good looking boyish actor too...whoda thunked it :)

They could have set up something better than being caught with a pr0stitute tho.!
Report positively4thsteet • December 20, 2009 6:34 AM GMT
just watched this on youtube. Hugh Grant (who i am not traditionally a fan of) came across v.well imo. Jonathan Ross (who I can't stand) didn't. Grant was quite funny I thought. I can't stand luvvies, in fact that is why i nevr normally watch these programmes. Grant just cameout and said he was a limited actor, fair play to him. Regarding "the question" i agree with sparky. Grant was well within his rights to stone wall him, and fair play on the eventual response about the telephone call. That proper shut up ross and all he could come up with was "do you think i don't know what you're doingthere" well of course you do, but you've backed yourself into a corner. Everyone knows what he is doing there and that is why he got a laugh from the audience AT your expense on YOUR show. Well done Hugh Grant imo.

Final insult from Ross "I can read you like a book". What a turnip, i fkin hate him. that is the kind of automaton response i hear all the time from office jokers who don't know how to react when they're the butt of the joke.

Ross is a talented bloke but sadly usually descends to his usual bullying schoolboy humour.
I stopped wasting electricity on him years ago.
Report positively4thsteet • December 20, 2009 8:25 AM GMT
i never watch him, but saw the thread the other day about him and decided to look on youtube.

I hate him with a passion in fact, and glad hugh grant shut him up.
Report Spirit Of My Weigh • December 20, 2009 8:28 AM GMT
Hugh has a very dry sense of humour but, obviously, did not want to talk about his private life..:)
Report man of many moods • December 20, 2009 8:35 AM GMT
I just wasted 10 minutes watching this on YouTube.

Ross was his usual self and I thought Grant came out of it pretty well.

But just a nothing interview really that doesn't warrant a thread about it.
Report man of many moods • December 21, 2009 6:38 AM GMT
Another thread I managed to kill :D

If only I'd kept score
Report MRGRUMPY1 • December 21, 2009 7:09 AM GMT
Ross being paid £6million as a presenter and told to speak clearer, slower even. Made me laugh, until i remembered i was paying part of the 6 million.
Report panglima • December 21, 2009 7:28 AM GMT
Ross is so far past his sell by date now, no wonder he is willing to take over a 50% pay cut, he knows he's a one trick pony that most people have or will shortly tire of.
