yes, much better imo because when the yanks do irony properly they do it better than us... although thank ** they supressed the canned laughter track when showing it over here

Have never been so surprised to like a programme in my life. The first-ever episode was awful as the script was almost identical to the first British episode, but after that it improved dramatically. It's not got quite the bite of of the British original, but the characters are extremely entertaining and the scripts sharp.

Actually quite enjoy it but really bears no relationship whatsoever (name and office setting apart) to the uk series.
I'm not a massive Gervais fan but i thought the office was great, and worked becasue of the good writing and a excellent ensemble cast.Did the right thing to only make 2 series as well.
there's lots of corking yank stuff out there, simply because of the money thrown at the scripts and prodution and multiple teams of top class writers and re-writers,their stuff always seem to give it the full 100% whereas some of the uk sit coms of the last ten years have been too woeful to behold.

The American version doesn't really work for me. The British version is good because Ricky Gervais is such a horrible smarmy cunnt. But the boss in the American one is just a hapless character you could feel quite sympathetic towards.

Dwight Schrute is funnier than Gareth Keenan by quite some stretch imo. The first series is the only so-so one because you find yourself comparing it to the British one, and spending less on time on appreciating it for what it is.
Very funny programme. VERY.

Reject a woman, and she will never let it go. One of the many defects of their kind. Also, weak arms.
There are 40 rules all Schrute boys must learn by age 5. Rule #17- There are 3 things you never turn your back on- bears, men you have wronged, and a dominant male turkey during mating season

I much prefer the US version all round good characters. Well written and very funny. Loved the UK original as well, but seeing the US version is still running It's now one of my favourites.
Whilst were talking about US comedies I would also reccommend 2 and half men, I didn't care for it to start with but it'as grown on me.

trivia - Two of the the writers of the US version are BJ Novak, who plays Ryan ( the intern) and Mindy Carlin the Indian woman who plays Ryan's girlfriend. Not a lot of people know that!
Dwight Shrute must be one of the best characters in a sitcom

Agree - better than British version - must be missing episodes - where are they being shown at the sec- every time I have flciked over recently it seems to have been a repeat but must have been unlucky

It's much better than the UK version. The David/Michael character is much funnier. Particularly towards the gay mexican.
"Yeah I'm down with that. I watched**as f*ck"

I liked Dwights scary cousin on the farm, serial killer material, it put the fear of god into Ryan.
BTW Karen is gorgeous
Micheal to Karen "was your Dad a GI?" :)
