Yes mate, a lot missing from previous years.
Sad indeed.

I miss STS telling us he's turned an amazing profit after backing every horse in every race, including nonners!
Howdi is a good egg too, pre-Chelters quizzes - badly compiled and handled - were a speciality

Hope they are well, because even if you're not betting for whatever reason you can still post on here

That as well. I'm the new breed of horse racing enthusiasts and punters/posters who would be prepared to do battle and wit against the new breed of bookie traders and old-fashioned punters/posters. My knowledge and experiences in the game have been developed and nurtured over many years, but only now an opportunity has arisen to allow it to be tested...for a gain (hopefully) eventually. This is still a game 1st,...a profit is a bonus. But I can be ruthless and clinical, and detest insincere professionalism enormously.

Like most games, there is a time limit put on it - a shorter one if it is deemed bent (by me).

I'd not go that far. It's only a game, not scientific with humility just around the corner; civility and decency are more important especially in forums like this one more than a wee bit of financial gained.

Nowhere near Judoricks level though......"I'm a good judge and if you don't believe me ask apieceofcake", that was the gem that heralded his arrival and it was all gravy from that moment onGrin

it may have to do with other forums. There are plenty of places to go for intelligent in depth Cheltenham based discusses and I think this forum is a little bit lacking, hence numbers dropping away.

I think where an individual chooses to post will be greatly decided by the main objectives of the individual. For instance, yours truly: my sole aim is to glean and share info with other posters here, and to learn but never to impose and profit from my posts; I do not do tweeter, facebook or any other other social media platform either and neither do I do listen to tipsters eg Lynch and Co.

Horse Racing is only a game. It is not an exact science either with multiple resulting scenarios culminating in either a horse wins or not, the end game - factors dependent; a game with differing opinions but only two outcomes ie win or lose (draw inclusive).

Searching for an intelligent post on this and other Betfair horseracing forums is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Most posters still posting are misanthropic or fantasists and a good number are both.

If you're looking for insightful posts and can't be bothered to wade through the piles of junk that gets posted on here I suggest you head to other websites, eg Fat Jock & Best of the Bests to name but two.

Just looking back a couple of pages to previous festivals and you see familiar names. It does baffle me where they all go, but I suppose to assume we all have the same passion is probably wrong. They could be on different forums, but this is attached to where a lot of them would still be betting so would still be finding their way onto here.

My guess is that they aren't betting and therefore don't have the inclination to get involved with the chat.

Probably a reason Duffy, I don't bet as  so haven't been on here as much. A lot of repitition this year re Yorkhill, Finians Oscar that eventually becomes a bit stale as well. Hasn't really been any talk of the Supreme, Arkle, Albert Bartlett etc.

Duffy. Id certainly say it's the quality of the debate on here these days that has pushed people away.

It's just a sad fact that that there are much better forums now.

Posters that have something to say find the Betfair forum increasingly dispiriting and post elsewhere. Many are still posting but using other forums. Look at the garbage posted by the likes of jokersjow and it's not hard to understand the drift away.

What's strange is the number of posters that openly berate this forum yet still continue to post here. The only thing i can deduce from their actions is that they are not getting what they want from the other forums so they keep coming back. Maybe they can enlighten me.

IMO the Betfair forum is great cause you have all types of posters who are not afraid to speak their minds. No charlatans and no one looking for credibility. Plus it has what no one else has - Impossible123. Priceless!!!

As long as there are people on here who still need their marmies and are petty enough to ring up to get me banned I will still be here keeping it real for the blusterers and bullsh'ers :)

From my own perspective I read very few posts on the main Horse Racing forum but at this time of year I'd expect the quality of posts on the Cheltenham Festival forum to be generally quite high, particularly relative to the main forum.  For that reason, as and when the mood grabs me, I'll occasionally post with my own thoughts.

Volume of posts on this forum is definitely down on previous years (although it will pick up as Festival fever takes hold) and there's seriously good stuff on other forums.

maelduin you've nailed Cash Is King there mate: "No charlatans and no one looking for credibility" that's Cash is King in a nutshell!!

The thought of Cash Is King punishing his pontiff over his feeble, petty and often monolithic diatribe is frankly quite disgusting.

CCm & CIK you're both correct.
I rarely bother much here myself, I just don't see the point as good constructive posters are so thin on the ground you could get 20 replies and only one of those is worth a reply.
