Powerhouse owner Rich Ricci said it was "great to be associated with something I have a real passion for" after he was unveiled as the new executive chairman of internet bookmakers BetBright.

Ricci's silks have become synonymous with the National Hunt scene and he numbers countless favourites for the Festival in March with the likes of Douvan, Faugheen and Min.

Ricci said: "I had interest from BetBright last summer and come on board as an executive chairman in the fourth quarter of last year."

"The interesting thing is it has been founded by technological guys and I just felt that they've built a better mousetrap than others.

"I enjoy mentoring the company and the people involved . It's something I'm really enjoying.

"It's interesting and great to be associated with something I have a real passion for."

How can a high profile owner with so many favourites at the Festival with millions riding on them be allowed a high profile position with a bookmaker?

Bookies such as VChandler may have had runners in the past but not on this scale.

Faugheen has already cost punters a fortune antepost which though probably totally innocent injury must surely be investigated considering the owners employment. His horses will decide the fortunes of bookmakers such as BetBright during the Festival with tens of millions at stake. Which other industry would allow such a conflict of interests?

Yes and i dont think its healthy. I remember being told fairly late of St Nicholas Abbey's absence from the Derby for example. Now whether iwe were informed as early as possible or not it is open to malpractice.

These owners have antepost favs in multi-million pound betting races. If that isnt a conflict of interests i dont know what is.

I think RR is good for marketing BB and source funds from the city if necessary being a former banker at Barclays; I believe these high worth individuals with horsey interests tend to bet with other firms and not their own.

I don't think it will have any impact what so ever, all that will happen is betbright will be a shorter price any of his horses rather like Ladbrokes have been on the ballydoyle horse for several years.
Im sure plenty of big owners we don't know about are big stake holders or on the boards of several major bookmakers, at least RR is out in the public eye.....

If he enjoys "mentoring" with the same success that Barclays has had over the past few years, if I were working for Betbright I'd be blowing my inflatable dinghy up as we speak, awaiting the iceberg.

Being backed in short for Ryanair why were we told late on the Morning Line about Vautour going Ryanair?
