Vautour Arkle 9/1 and 7/1 PP, also 5/2 win any race market.
Shaneshill win any race 8/1.
Hargam Triumph 20/1.
Vaniteux Champion Hurdle 33/1.

Not so many this season as no non runner free bet with Victor, very happy with Vautour if goes Arkle route cant see him being beat imo.
Shaneshill due out Sunday, likely to head Neptune route would be scared of stable mate if meet. ( Tell Us More )
Hargam due out Saturday should win and shorten in market.
Vaniteux also due out Saturday needs big run to shake up The New One, but expect him to go close on better ground.

Be good to hear others views and bets so far, good luck all.

I was interested in Morning Assembly for the Gold Cup at the start of the season but he seems to have disappeared. Thought it was a great run in the RSA after having not ran since December. I might go in for Hargam for the Triumph. Those 2 yesterday pulled 29 clear of the 3rd. Very confident about Vautour winning the Arkle now. Champion Hurdle bet on Vaniteux burst yesterday but may be better on good ground if they get that in March and sneak 3rd.
Report opatcho December 14, 2014 11:29 AM GMT
I took the 80's at the start of the jump season for Morning Assembly to win GC, hoping that we'd have a bit of rain in March. Then took a few 120's, but slightly concern now that he hasnt had a run or has a entry. Not sure whether yards are waiting for more cut over in Ireland, or whether MA suffered more than expected after his last run when he was reported to be sore after the race.

Currently around 100's again...

Think that was quite impressive from Ptit Zig to give Josses Hill weight and a decent beating. Josses Hill only 6 behind Vautour and therefore have taken 60 e/w Ptit Zig at 14-1 for Arkle. 3 players now at 11-2, 8-1 and 14-1 ew. That will do.

I've taken the 125/1 on offer for CC to win KG and GC. I've taken this bet on the basis

1) that I'd love to see CC win the KC after coming so close last year, better ground this time could help although his form so far isn't all that great at all
2) I thought and still think he would have won last years GC given the ground came up good
3) I really like the horse

I'd rather take the 125/1 for him to win both than the 6/1 currently on offer to win the KG. If he wins the KG then his price for the GC would collapse, and he's a must better horse around Cheltenham

I can't see it happening tbh, but 125/1 was too big for me to ignore

I think 2 of your better positions are represented by your indifferent bets! I have them both though Don Poli to win any race.

Shaneshill is a Kings Theatre and will be seen to much better effect on Spring ground.

If Gigginstown think Don Poli might be a Gold Cup horse in 2017, then he'll be running in the RSA, not the 4 miler. Really progressive profile...I like this horse a lot.

I don't mind admitting that I'm only a small time punter.  Last couple of years I've probably staked about £450 - £500 for the entire festival, and so far have about £280 on.

Best ones so far are:

Conti - Gold Cup - 40/1 and 12/1
Lieutenant Colonel - World Hurdle - 66/1, 25/1 and 16/1

Ones that I like, but are still a similar price

Gilgamboa - Arkle - 20/1
Apache Stronghold - JLT - 20/1 and 16/1
Sprinter - QMCC - 4/1 and 11/4 NRNB

Written off

Simonsig - Any Race - 7/1
Irving - Champion Hurdle - 33/1
Vaniteux - Champion Hurdle - 33/1
Morning Assessmbly - Gold Cup - 50/1
Ma Feuille - Gold Cup - 33/1
Diakali - World Hurdle - 45/1

Last three are all less than a fiver each that I put on after a few too many Johnnie Walker's!

Wild Card

Vautour - Any Race - 6/1 (backed 7's for the Arkle and layed off at 4/1)
Vautour (Arkle) + Sprinter Double - 30/1
Vautour (Arkle) + Conti Double - 100/1

So although I've got Vautour any race, I still really want him in the Arkle - for the quality of the race and to keep my two nice doubles alive.

The "dare to dream treble"

Douvan (Supreme), Shaneshill (Neptune) + Black Hercules (Albert Bartlett) - £20 pays over £15k!

I may add Champagne West for the RSA soon.  I'd like to back Ptit Zig for the JLT and Don Cossack for the Ryanair, but I fear I've missed the boat on them and are now too short.

I usually have loads of small bets covering pretty much all non handicaps, but I've changed strategy this year and been a bit more selective, but just gone in a bit bigger on fewer selections.

Good luck all.

As a few on here will already know i am small time. I don't know why i used stars really to cover my stakes and not just post the prices. Never thought in a million years it would matter a jot to anyone really. But clearly it does. I am a £5 - £25 ew punter really with only 2 horses mentioned above with more on, which have been layed off to the tune of the difference to which i am comfortable with though i have successfully traded one to a point i have the field win me my stake back which is i guess the holy grail of traders on here.

He's 7, won the challow and started his career on the flat. One of those in isolation would put me off and yet we have all 3!!

I'm on TUM at 20/1 and Shaneshill @10/1. Happy enough with that for the time being
Report stevo1 January 15, 2015 11:36 PM GMT

Had a cracking treble in November:

More Of That 5/2 - subsequently trounced and now 4/1
Annie Power Evs - subsequently lame and now 6/4
Vautour 6/1 - subsequently trounced, now 8/1 and less likely to even go for the Arkle

That's some shrewd work.

Vibrato Valtat 20/1 e/w Arkle, under radar a little goes Warwick next month, may pick up pieces if likely strong pace he will get, hopefully Noel will ride.
Dynaste glad to see entered Saturday, whether shows or not hopefully does and wins then goes for Gold.

His form is rock solid inc 2nd to Don Poli btn 2 1/2, then lto beat Rule The World 9 1/2.
Hopefully goes for 4 miler as Giggy have Don Poli for Rsa.

My best are Valseur Lido at 30s for RSA, Tell Us More at 18 for Neptune (still wouldn't rule him out of it but Supreme a poss), Champagne Fever at 14s for CC

Worst is all my accums with Vautour to win Arkle and Briar Hill to win WH :(

Report benkneale03 February 13, 2015 8:27 PM GMT
I've done well with the antepost this year and easily the biggest tank i've had which has increased every year of the 4 or 5 proper ones i've spent having a bet. A lot of these have seemed really obvious to me and I haven't risked many before races, more like jumping on over reactions or under ratings of runs. I have aimed to have enough on to return a certain amount on each one and after adding my bets up i've only really spent about what one would return and that's with some decent sized trixies and yanks included at some good prices.

jollyallan - 25/1 supreme - available within hours of it being obvious it had ran to 150+ and a mighty rating for a novice in the run behind GLV.

vatour - arkle - 8/1. - more or less wrote this off but we'll see.

The new one - champion hurdle 7/2. Since last year's festival I told myself i'd be making a new hobby out of backing faugheen champ hurdle and this for arkle. I done this but only managed a few whilst faugheen was still around 5/1. I have that in my pocket which covers around a quarter of my ante post but as soon as faugheen went around 6/4 after one run all the value went to TNO so i've jumped ship.

polly peachum 16/1 e/w mares hurdle - Willing to completely put a line through last race when a tired faller/pulled up after slip on first try over 3m. We also now know it doesn't handle the  bad ground as it was withdrawn a few weeks later over similar. That run was the difference between being 5/1 and 16/1 which was wrong and without anything new it's already 12s best. I'm sure this will be a steady steamer and go off at least half the price i've got and much more closer to aurore destruval.

wounded warrior - 8/1 NH chase - placed recently when PP moved Don Poli out for this and in for the RSA.

stellar notion - 16/1 e/w novices handicap chase - Another i'm happy to overlook last race considering it needed to run in it to qualify for this but could not recieve a penalty as it was already rated 138. Looks an obvious blot and without that run he'd come here with a solid , progressive profile. Can't have it he's exposed for a yard that is usually so patient. No real rush to back as it may go under the radar and wouldn't be surprised to see it go off bigger.

Parlour games - 16/1. neptune - like jollyallan I backed when it was obvious it had ran to a proper mark for a novice last time out. One that is possibly vulnerable to a classy one but half the price already and big enough to get involved in another in the race closer to the time.

Southfield theatre - 20/1 RSA. - Was really taken by the comments from Nicholls before this season when he suggested he'd make ''an awesome chaser'' and he already had the profile of cheltenham performer and a gritty stayer. With the RSA mentioned early it made sense and I was impressed with his effort last week over a steadily ran 2m4f which would have really favoured melodic rendezvous. MR is hard to assess but there's a really good chance that's a great bit of form considering ifandbutwhynot ran to 137 after he was thrashed off levels by boondooma who melodic beat well first time out over fences. Really good prep as they know he'll stay so could afford a build up less harsh than most.

Don Poli - 4/1 RSA. - Another struck when Paddy shortened him for this recently. I think it's really interesting **** have priced up based on NRNB and offered 4/1 coneygree. They won't take a bet so it's useless but if that's the benchmark for coneygree i'll probably be laying DP off and making coney one of the biggest bets i've had. The rating is no fluke and the 2nd highest rated chaser in the gold cup so far should be nowhere near 4/1 for the RSA. If he doesn't line up i'm happy DP goes plenty shorter if lining up and taken the risk. Can't imagine a future gold cup horse to be shown down the 4m route by Giggi when they have the fav for that anyway without DP.

Sacre - 7/2 QM chase. Placed just before his comeback when heard that they seeing the old spark at home. Possibly a little concerning that there's not been much heard of him since but the race looked to me like it was fitness.

Au quortz - bumper 16/1. - Another with strong whispers before his last run so jumped on.

apache stronghold - 66/1 jlt (to win any race really with hills special 8th feb) - Kindly pointed out to me the other week on here the morning of the 8th. I've got a little feeling this has got plenty of progressing to do based on that win because he showed potent gears and tactical speed considering the trip to get him up with the pace and then battled gamely. He looks to have all the tools and I went in again at 8/1 afterwwards.

close touch - 20/1 JLT - Disappointing by it's last run but it was also too bad to be true and i'll probably still go back in again at 25/1 now. His hurdles form has worked out extremely well and he looked so classy on chase debut to think he isn't still a serious horse.

coneygree - 12/1 NRNB - gold cup. - If he lines up it will only be because the ground has came soft and if so he's likely to be plenty shorter given his rating. Biggest novice rating since 2000 and that one went off 13/2. This renewal is as wide open as any really so no surprise to see it close to something like that. It seems a no brainer risk free bet.

Had a few early this season that are write offs - Wonderful charm gold cup, dynaste gold cup 33/1 after he was 2nd over christmas, carraig mor RSA, bivouac triumph but will cover for fred winter - his run was too bad to be true last time and is now suspect given it dropped to 139 from 147 so gets him in the handicap.

Worst is Tell Us More, was my first bet of the season, it's shorter than when I backed it but I don't fancy it now and have pretty much written it off. Best is probably a multiple from early December, Un De Sceuax 6/1 Arkle + Faugheen 2/1 Champ + Vautour 3/1 JLT.

84/1 treble that is now about 15/1 due to UDS price collapse. Shame I don't have singles at that price, no idea what I was thinking to be honest. Sad

DON POLI 25/1 for 2016 gold Cup was with Betfred, he has been clipped to 20/1 - which I still think is way too big.  BFred have loads on this years Gold Cup horses at the top of the market, and history shows not many win after their debut in the race.
