Was doing pretty mediocre going into today but having Houblon Des Obeaux and Smad Place e/w at 40/1 and 33/1 respectively; have had a pretty good day today.

Nice one gents.

I have to say ( and I might be getting a bit cynical ) but the festival has lost some of its magic for me.

The build up is almost the most exciting part.
Report Glossy March 15, 2012 6:37 PM GMT
Always the case though isn't it Mr E? The anticipation is the best bit unless you're cleaning up race after race.

Will be exactly the same next year too. Happy
Report BornToWin March 15, 2012 6:38 PM GMT
Was doing badly until today. Was suckered into going bollock deep on the Fly, which has had knock on effects. Equally heavily on Bucksy today 5/6 Happy, along with an ew treble with For Non Stop and Alberta's Run. Also Salut Flo a nice winner.

Have a potential antepost 2022/1 treble with the last leg tomorrow... yes that would be nice.
Report sintonian March 15, 2012 6:56 PM GMT
Day 1 was very good, day 2 poor, day 3 good. All in all cant complain.

Few bullets to be fired tomorrow but will be comfortable ahead for the festival.

it is a bit thin now really, the hcps are getting worse - they should have qualify hcps ,and must of run within 6 months etc - so that you dont get loads of horses with p f oo next to their name - it should be the best hcpers, plus i still think our hcper puts horses up far too much when they win a small race at ludlow ,its like a winning premiership team - you need to keep tweaking it every year - theres no way it can go to 5 days - just not the races

Having the best festival I can remember to be honest.

A lot of credit has to go to some good judges on this forum though.  It was this forum that first put me onto Simonsig, and I remembered the name "Une Artiste" from this forum and put a couple of quid each way.

Hurricane Fly was a big loser for me, but had a decent bet on Overturn that won most of that back.

Just needed Albertas to get up today and Finians and Sizing to swap and that would have been the icing on the cake.

I'm pretty much done now - got a bit on Olofi, Starluck, Blader Succes and Mount Benbulben tomorrow, but only for smallish stakes.

Haven't got a bet in the Gold Cup but desperate for Kauto to a) Get back in one piece, and b) WIN!!!

Good luck everyone for day 4.

Been a tough week for me which is a consistent follow on from my antepost disaster. Been hitting the post with numerous places but most of those win only.
Still got some hope though with a Hunt Ball, Salut Flo, Boston Bob patent, it all hinges on the final leg for my week to turn around (if your reading ruby).

I must say that the general punter value on track is poor still, summed up by the fact a few of us backed cockney trucker in the coral cup at 50,s who finished 5th, didn't bother seeking out 365 for the top 5 placesSad.

Big Mac shouts come racing but when you can get much better terms sitting at home in front of the box it doesn't help the cause, still, wont stop us going next year and the year after etc etc.

Ps - Spirit Son 20-1 for next years champion hurdle, you heard it here firstWink

Having a good one 10 winners so far which is unheard of for me after 3 days. I'm a big fan of a lot of the Henderson horses so that's helped a lot.
Report redbag March 15, 2012 8:28 PM GMT
day 1 -£235
day 2 -£110
day 3 + £825 Happy thanks to cape tribulation and the placepot
Report Joist March 15, 2012 8:41 PM GMT
I've backed 2 winners all week, both at odds on, Sprinter Sacre and Quevega Crazy

It'll take a Lazarus-esque turnaround tomorrow to not have done my brains. Still, same again next year!
Report cruise d March 15, 2012 8:51 PM GMT
I'm having a great festival. My best first three days ever and a cracking day today. I normally win on the Thurs and Fri but lose Tues/Weds. Riverside was my banker of the meeting and I backed it at 10s before it's run at Ascot. Also had a nice double on it with BB when BB was 4/5 and RT was 7/2 just before The Ryaniar started. I backed three in the ladbrokes ew half the odds offer and two of them were Volar La Vedette £25 16/1 and Smad place £25 33/1Excited!

Other winners inc (though I do back 2-4 in some of the handicaps)...

Cinders and Ashes
Alfie Sherrin
Balthazar King
Hunt Ball (only a saver)
Teaforthree
Son Of Flicka

Don't wanna really talk figures but the number finishes in three zeros!

I feel shameful now. Filthy filthy aftertiming! I have posted about fancying several of the ones on the list above in some way shape or form before the off so it's not all bad.

Alright first day, had rock on ruby. Yesterday and today abit of a damp squid, Still gutted over Sizing Europe yesterday, chancing a couple of outsiders tomorrow. Sailors Warn and Rocky Creek will help me out.
Report R.O.Gibraltar March 15, 2012 8:54 PM GMT
Having my best ever. Been following the henderson horses, had it off on bobs worth big time. Going in heavy on long run tomorrow.
Good luck.

£500 up but not a winner at Cheltenham today but 3 at Hexham saved me.
Had wins on Rock on Ruby, Simonsig and Bobs Worth. Today had Champion Court and Catch Me would have been well up, but happy so far, now do I really go for it tomorrow or take it easy?
Report Glossy March 15, 2012 9:13 PM GMT
Ahhh you got to love it. Everyone winning. Even mention of a 'damp squid' to top it off!
Report Giddy March 15, 2012 9:17 PM GMT
Was 5k up due to Laying H.Fly,G.Crus and Sizing.Had a large bet on one in the bumper, which was well beat.Managed to back Cape Tribulation today, only winner so far and then took on Big Bucks.Going into last day £800 up with no confidence and as Zilzal says drained

If anyone doubts me I did post on horse racing forum before the race about Rock on Ruby and Bobs Worth.
Report andy85 March 15, 2012 10:19 PM GMT
I'm bowling along ok at the moment and slightly up due to big bet on Simonsig.

Also had Balthazar King on opening day at 14/1 and Riverside Theatre today at 5/1.  Cockney Mackem got me a nice bit of place money at 20/1 aswell.
Report motor roller March 15, 2012 10:20 PM GMT
Was £2k down by thurs 4.30pm after profitable festivals last 3 years sunnyhill got me 75% back and into saddlers, benbulben, diamond Harry (think will run a good race) to end the festival saver on Boston in benbulbens race just in case he's the real deal.....6/4 looking tight now so could be tips on tomor maybe
