the money in the build up often seems to know in Matchroom fights. if the favourite is backed into 1.2 or 1.x pre-fight, that means the fighter will get the decision if it's close and will get a draw if they've lost
the Courtenay v Ball was a similar story. Courtenay opened at 1.5 at bookies and was 2.1 by the time the fight started tonight. in the build up there was lots of talks about Ball being backed into evens at the bookies then in the actual fight, Ball put Courtenay down in round 1, so that was 10-8 for her. but Courtenay then won rounds 2, 3 and 4. Ball maybe the 5th. Courtenay 6 and 7. The 8th was close. If we give the 8th to ball, Courtenay still won 5-4 on points But the decision from the ref was given to Ball. The pre-fight money always knows! |
