Just need Fury to beat Wilder. It will be impossible to duck Fury, public clamour for it will be too much.
Report darren_discombobulates_sports September 22, 2018 11:09 PM BST
I've read some posts on boxing forums as well as this one saying that Hearn doesn't want it which I agree, doesn't make sense to me, there's something missing in the hold up, negotiations for this fight started after the Takam fight in October last year.

Fury would be a much more difficult fight for AJ than Wilder, Fury is the best Technical boxer of the 3 imo.

Eddie figures these kind of fights make a lot and he can do 2 of them a year for another 2 or 3 years.
Report n88uk September 22, 2018 11:12 PM BST
It's cos it's easy taking a load of fights AJ probably wins and still making a huge load of money. Than taking a big risk for likely not much more money, unless something like the $50m offer truly materialises, which is highly questionable.

AJ is Eddie's gravy train, if he loses, his business takes a big hit, so obvious why he'd want to protect that.

Wilder wants the fight to take place in the US, Hearn/AJ want it to take place in the UK. That's the main reason why it hasn't happened yet and won't happen for a good while yet either.

Too much politics to overcome to make AJ v Wilder. Barely any politics to overcome to make AJ v Fury. Fury will be happy to fight in the UK. Only stumbling block will be the split.

Report darren_discombobulates_sports September 22, 2018 11:37 PM BST
yeah that makes sense, I hope it happens whilst there both still youngish, the biggest disappointment in Boxing in the last 20 years has been Mayweather and Pacquaio not fighting years earlier! I watched the fight with Wilder-Ortiz and Wilder was there for the taking, his resume is not that impressive given the calibre of fighters so I don't think it's half a big a risk as Eddie seems to think it is, his unorthodox open style seems perfect for AJ to exploit, I think Fury-AJ however would be a points decision.

Would a neutral venue be out of the question?
Report GRANTCKING September 22, 2018 11:42 PM BST
theres no politics, wilder didnt want to give up his belt yet
Report wisewords September 22, 2018 11:44 PM BST
AJ/Hearn want to do this journey in the UK. he's got every belt bar the WBC, and he's fought all his fights in the UK. the negotiations between the 2 teams get nowhere because Haymon/Finkel want to stage it in Vegas or NY, while Hearn/AJ want to continue the journey fighting in the UK. It's basically a battle of who's the A side and controlling everything, including judges.

He's never gonna leave the UK I can agree with. The only reason I can see him seriously considering an easy defence in America is if DAZN throw a load of money at him if he comes to the US to make a defence.

Yes as it won't make business sense, and will leave too much money on the table to be at a neutral venue.
