Paddys have it
4/6 Eubank Jnr 6/5 Groves |
By:
Wow , i don't necessarily think that's wrong but i expected Groves to be fav
January a stupid month for such a big fight . This series is not well planned imo |
By:
And i still say that Senior will find some way to squirm out of this fight
|
By:
why would he squirm out? the winner of the series gets hefty money.
|
By:
Fighting GGG would have been hefty money
|
By:
He would have lost to GGG
|
By:
The Eubanks are annoying but they know what they're doing. They used Eddie Hearn wit that GGG thing for publicity.
|
By:
Groves win this.
That body shot is devastating. |
By:

|
By:
Very surprised Eubanks is fave to win the tourn.
I'm not clued up on Callum shep but groves will surely be much too strong. |
By:
20,000 tickets sold out in 7 minutes

Well....getting closer now and looks like it is happening! What is the consensus gentlemen? Do we all believe Eubank is the real deal? I think we have all seen the twitter/youtube videos of Eubanks amazing speed and fitness...is that enough? He looked to have power against Yildirim but I don't think any of us would have called him a big hitter before this fight. I think this is a big step up in class for him and Groves, although had a couple of wobbly years after the Froch fight, seems to be back on track. Definitely the bigger man and will test Eubank like he hasn't been done before.
|
By:
I can see it being a cagey fight. Both in the position were they can't afford to lose. Fancy Groves via points
|
By:
I reckon groves gonna win by KO, can see eubank engaging at some stage in the fight to try and prove a point that he can bang/take punches and he will get tagged, if he keeps the fight on the outside then he coasts to a points win
|
By:
I think Junior has a solid chin
|
By:
Just looked at the odds. Bet365 have Groves @2.6 which I think is massive
|
By:
think groves is a bit underrated.

World champion George Groves has offered a withering assessment of opponent Chris Eubank and his father ahead of their super-middleweight world title fight in Manchester this weekend, warning that his rival is in for "a huge fall from grace" while claiming that Eubank Snr "has lost the plot".
"The reality is that they don't know what they are doing," said Groves, 29, who defends the World Boxing Association super-middleweight crown in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series for The Muhammad Ali Trophy. "Fine, Junior catches a certain section of the public with these Rocky-style training montage videos he's putting out there, but Senior has lost the plot completely, lost his grip on reality when he describes what his son is capable of," added Groves of Eubank, who has stepped up a division to 12st from middleweight, having been installed as the favourite by the bookmakers. Groves, a 29-year-old Londoner and a year older than the challenger, continued: "There is lots with the Eubanks that I don't understand. His dad has lost the plot, which he has done several times over the years. People have just bought into what they put out there, that he's the coming force, with the training montages they put out on the internet - with his 98 punches in 11 seconds - and that will capture a certain section of the public's imagination. "But they have shown terrible sparring, stuff that I would never release, and they have got Junior to a position where he believes all his dreams will come true. He's out there looking at grand houses likes 'Homes Under The Hammer'. "You have to win some fights first to do that. This can be a huge fall from grace. It is a tough road back when you lose. I walked a tightrope with the two Carl Froch fights I had, and the more you put out there, the more you risk." Groves won a world title at the fourth attempt in May last year, stopping Russian Fedor Chudinov in the sixth round to claim the 12st crown. "I'm in a good place now. I've achieved my dream and I just want to capitalise," explained Groves. "This will be a huge fall from grace for Eubank. It won't be an easy fight, he has certain attributes, but Eubank thinks he can do this without a trainer. The father is supposed to be the clever man, pushing him, but it's the blind leading the blind. He had success in the past, but it was a different time, a different era. The best boxers have great teams around them, and a good trainer is worth their weight in gold." Groves also opened up on a series of sparring sessions they had, until 2014. "It was years ago. I'm not taking much from it. I was drilling certain things during sparring under my then trainer, Adam Booth. He (Eubank) is mentally tough. He's ambitious. He can get bashed up and come back the next day ready to go again. But has he developed his skills? I'm not so sure. "Eubank has been drilling bad habits, and those bad habits look permanently engrained. I don't think he's improved since we sparred. "I'm a power athlete, I like to hit people hard. He thinks it's his time, his destiny, but that's not how it works. It's about who has prepared correctly, and who does the right thing on the night. He hasn't boxed anyone as big, fast and strong as me." |

ITV are pisspoor at marketing.
Hear so little about it I keep checking it hasn't been postponed. Casual fans must have no idea it is on. |
By:
Sky generated more interest in that fight between those burger flippers a couple of weeks back than ITV have in this

junior drinking straight out of bottle ffs, thought it was to share.

^It might appear that way just from advertising, but don't think it's actually true in terms of interest. All my friends are aware of this fight and talking about it, no-one was talking about Okolie vs Chamberlain. My mum was also aware of it when I spoke to her last weekend as Eubank Jr has been on breakfast TV, you can't underestimate the influence of that, it's a different audience to the watching Sky Sports News on loop types but it's a big catchment too.
You'd expect this to be a big fight anyway, it's the biggest fight since Joshua vs Klitschko in the UK. |

Chris Eubank Jr was slightly heavier than George Groves on the scales as the British rivals successfully weighed in for their World Boxing Super Series semi-final.
The Brighton man stepped up a division to enter the eight-man tournament and tipped the scales at 11st 13lbs 10oz, surprisingly a little more than the natural super-middleweight Groves, who weighed in at 11st 13lbs 2oz. |
By:
Groves will be at least half a stone heavier tomorrow.
|
By:
Is this on council telly tomorrow?
|
By:
No, it's ITV Pay per view, trilby. The Joe Joyce fight is on tonight on Dave, though.
|
By:
Thanks Des. Radio 5 live again it is then.
|

same here. Although I am tempted by this one.

The WBSS is pioneering in a number of ways, and one of which is their solution to dealing with the potential draw. In all the fights in the tournament, a fourth judge has been drafted in to keep score alongside the standard three scoring judges.
If the original three judges score the fight a draw, then the fourth judge will be taken into account to decide the winner. If two of the four scorecards are in favour of Boxer X, and at least of the others is a draw, then Boxer X will be declared the winner. In other words, the boxer with more winning scorecards after all four are taken into consideration will be the winner. If the fight is still scored a draw (i.e. the fourth judge has it level) then they will use the countback system, which is something much more synonymous with amateur boxing. In this case, the original three scorecards are looked at for the 12th round, and if one boxer won that round on a majority of them, then he is the winner |
