Klitschko blew that. Joshua was done but Wlad didn't have the killer instinct. He thought he could coast through the last few rounds and win on the scorecards. Fair play to Joshua for recovering and finishing it fantastically.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but I didn't think Joshua looked in great physical shape. I wonder if he hasn't been able to use the 'help' to train harder.

Almost got it right! KO went into 1.35! Thought Wlad was going to get him after the knock down, gutted I won't lie.

I think AJ was too heavy, probably slowed him down

Wilder desperate to take on AJ but everyone knows Fury is the one which would sell better.

Wilder isn't targeting AJ next. He is targeting Parker to unify so he can then go to Joshua for all the belts.

When Klitchko had Joshua down in the 6th and his leg were gone for 2-3 rounds all he had to do was see out the next couple of rounds and at least 99% of all boxing trainers/fighters/journos would say Joshua would be KO'd at some stage.

But no he produced the miracle.

Business wise it makes sense for Wilder to target Parker in the summer then Bellew at the end of the year.

2 fights he should win for big paydays, and sets up an even bigger payday with AJ for next summer by first unifying then getting his name more known in the British public.

Best fight ive ever seen in the entertainment stakes - Joshua fighting style wasn't at all suited to Klitschko leading jab but its a sign of a champion that he overcame it.

I still can't believe he effectively got semi knocked out and came back with that speed of punches in the 11th.

Joshua will learn alot from that fight - his inexperience almost got him beat but the experience will now make him a better boxer.

Fury has no chance against Joshua, imo.

As long as the punters keep paying out the money men and the participants will be happy

Enjoyable fight. You rarely see heavyweight fights like this these days. People saying Vlad 10 years earlier would have destroyed AJ etc, firstly AJ will probably peak in 5 years given his lack of experience and secondly, for me Vladimir's best fight was the way he used his jab against Haye and he was pushing on in his thirties then. People can say what they want about Haye but he was a genuine contender at the time and far better than most of the statue dross Vlad fought in defence. I think in a few years time, Joshua would have finished the fight after the first knock down. He got too excited and didn't just take a step back when Vlad was bowed over to put him to sleep with an uppercut. Also, the body punches by Joshua were underrated as well. After he survived the sixth round I think Joshua intentionally coasted through the next 2-3 rounds as he knew he was still ahead on the scorecards and built up the energy for the final destruction.

Credit to Vlad, he showed it was just a bad day at the office against Fury (plus there were a few mitigating circumstances which he didn't make excuses for either) and how he took that uppercut is beyond me.

There were a few crucial misses by Ding and swing frames he lost. That was the killer. Apart from that he was superb.

Just rewatching the fight now. AJ totally gassed out last half of round 5, was walking around punch drunk but Wlad was too tired to capitalise.

Needed to connect with the left in round 6 as AJ was on his way down too.

Cracking fight. Wladimir definitely missed his chance in the 7th AJ was there for the taking. Shows what a good job Fury did 18 months ago in beating Wlad mentally and physically. Roll on AJ v Fury.

Joshua has only been in the Pro game 3.5 years, WK has had 50 more fights, that experience counts for a lot.

Joshua would have KO sparked OUT COLD 25 year old glass chinned Wladimir within 3 rounds.

Just reading this thread and some of the views are so laughable. This was AJ's 19th fight, let's put that into perspective, Ricky Hatton stepped up and fought Kostya Tszyu in his 39th fight (twice as many fights), even the brilliant Floyd Mayweather only stepped up markedly in grade against Diego Corrales (rip) in his 25th bout.

AJ has openly admitted he is not perfect in the ring and has openly admitted he still makes mistakes but is a work in progress and improving all the time. On Saturday night i thought he fought well early on and then he floored Wlad in the 5th, he then made his biggest mistake of the fight, instead of them picking his shots he went all out to finish Wlad there and then and ended up punching himself out and he was gassed for a fair few rounds afterwards. In the 6th when Wlad put AJ down i like the majority though it was over and AJ should be given credit for getting back up and surviving (barely), yes Wlad could probably have come on stronger then looking for the finish but he was probably still feeling the effects of the previous round and would have been wary of gassing himself as AJ had done the round previous. Wlad was then on top for the next few rounds.

Come round 11 i had AJ just ahead on my card and then he landed that right uppercut which was a thing of beauty, Wlad was gone the second that landed. AJ picked his shots better for the first knockdown in round 11, he then picked his shots well for the 2nd knockdown as well (the straight right was a lovely shot), after the 2nd knockdown he got a bit trigger happy again swinging wildly and missing with a left hook (i think it was) but by that time Wlad was a spent force (even allowing for the extra time the referee gave him on every knockdown which was poor i thought).

How many people thought AJ could pull himself off the floor like that and win? All this rubbish about Wlad of 10-15 years ago would have destroyed AJ, get a bloody grip have you seen Wlad of 15 years ago, he would have struggled to get up in round 5. Wlad made no excuses, he said he was in as good as condition as he ever has been. People call AJ a bum and say he has fought doormen yet they cream themselves over Tyson Fury, are you for fkin real??

Anyway that was the best bout (excitement wise) and atmosphere i have ever been too, that includes all the Vegas bouts i have gone too, Saturday night was absolutely fantastic and some of the best money i have ever spent. good fight. both fighters gassed early made it exciting. AJ will learn a lot from this. just shows how good a performance fury's was he made it look easy. hopefully he can get himself back in shape and maybe fight wilder or joshua next year. parker joshua hopefully later this year
