Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs fight Saturday March 18th at Madison Square Garden for the WBA Super World middleweight title. Triple G enters this fight with a 36-0 record that includes 33 knockouts. This will be Golovkin’s sixth fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a September win over Kell Brook.Even as he ages at nearly 35 years old, Golovkin is still clearly the best middleweight in the world and has some of the most powerful shots among active boxers. Golovkin is one of the more effective offensive fighters in recent memory and also has a proven chin that allows him to trade shots and break the will of his opponent.

Daniel Jacobs enters this fight with a 32-1 record that includes 29 knockouts. Jacobs has won his last 12 fights, and he’s coming off a September win over Sergio Mora. Jacobs has been on fire since his 2010 loss to Dmitry Pirog and his won every fight during his 12 straight wins by knockout. Jacobs is a big middleweight who stands in at 6’0” and has a 73-inch reach, and that size along with his punching power makes him a very tough matchup for most opponents. Jacobs is good at getting in and getting out with power shots and has good movement around the ring.

Looking forward to this fight a lot.

Report wisewords March 19, 2017 5:01 AM GMT
jay boxing is very random. sometimes they'll score something 100% as it went, like the fight before. then other times they'll use biased scoring and award the victory to their chosen fight/cash cow.

Jacobs said he felt he won the fight. I agree
Report Des Pond March 19, 2017 5:01 AM GMT
well done to jacobs, put up a great fight, and should've won from what I've seen. Must have been the KD that sealed it for him. If you're the champion you get the benefit if you cut down the ring, esp if you score a knockdown. Sounds like jacobs was robbed thogh.
Report Des Pond March 19, 2017 5:03 AM GMT
i only backed pre-fight at 1.16, so I risked far too much just to get losses back from rugby. Bad mistake but got away with it.

It didn't seem like free muney at the time, grant. My stream went down after about 8 rounds, so I didn't see the end of the fight. And I haven't watched it back yet, but I really thought I'd lost my money. GGG didn't impose himself at all, apart from the knockdown, and jacobs wasn't really hurt. In most rounds I saw, Jacobs was better and was landing a lot of clean punches and working really well with the jab. I think that if Jacobs had been the defending champion he would definitely have got the decision.

This shows if it is not a big  Sky PPV how the BF market is formed by the 3 or 4 people posting on here

Not seen the fight but read this thread Sunday morning and it seems Jacob's was winning easy and there was a big robbery

Then look elsewhere and just see GGG won with no controversy , Dan Rafael had GGG 117-109 Mischief

Where did you get that from Tober? That doesn't look right. Rafael said it was "a very, very close fight" I don't think he would've seen it as 117-109. Besides, that score is highly improbable without a second knockdown. I'm prepeared to admit that it was close and that GGG got the nod for aggression, volume of punches landed and the knockdown made the difference. That is fair enough, but there were  plenty of observers who thought that jacobs should have won for quality, boxing intelligence and style over GGG's volume of punches. But the defending champion usually gets the benefit of the doubt in a close one, especially if he scores a knockdown.
