It seems a massive risky fight though, and also seems very late to build it up. Hearn could easily sell out a stadium for this rather than the MEN. Also beyond the bravado they can't guarantee behind closed doors Joshua will win, and Joshua's stock drops like a stone if Klitschko schools him after losing to Fury.
You win a title in 2015 and get to 2017 without having fought since , no fight even scheduled , and a doctor's note saying you cannot actually fight (+ a PED hearing) and you still are the champion ???

Wlad is Number 1 contender for WBA . Would he prefer to fight Joshua than Ortiz ? Certainly more money v Joshua . But what about Parker ?
Joshua will make the second defence of his belt at the end of November or start of December and Parker was named on a three-man shortlist of opponents, which also includes European champion Kubrat Pulev and former world champion Bermane Stiverne.
But the New Zealand fighter is now set to appear on the undercard, if he wins his next fight with Alexander Dimitrenko on October 1, and talks have been held about a showdown with David Price before a possible March meeting with Joshua.

Tbf can't they make the argument that Wladimir isn't mandatory. So they haven't not met any obligations by not defending them.
Even if he gets stripped he will be made champion in recess so he gets an automatic shot when he returns. And Fury will remain lineal champion even if he holds none of the belts.
Fury likely to lose his boxing license tomorrow which will force him to give up the titles. The WBA will likely get attached to this, and Parker will go fight for the vacant WBO vs Andy Ruiz Jr. Fury gets made champion in recess. Everybody ends up with what they want.
