Report Des Pond August 8, 2016 10:59 PM BST
Fowler down.
Report Des Pond August 8, 2016 11:02 PM BST
Another rd to the Kahzak, looks powerful.
Report Des Pond August 8, 2016 11:03 PM BST
Fowler celebrates, but he must know he's being hammered.
Report Des Pond August 8, 2016 11:04 PM BST
Alimkhanully far too good for him
Report Des Pond August 8, 2016 11:09 PM BST
Fowler still 6.2 on the outright market, even thougn he's out. Shocked
Report Des Pond August 8, 2016 11:11 PM BST
A lot of these olympic markets seem to be behind events, must be someone cashing in somewhere, though not large sums involved.
Report Des Pond August 8, 2016 11:59 PM BST
Erislandy Savon up next, Felix's nephew, up against British guy, Okolie, 91kg
Report Des Pond August 9, 2016 12:00 AM BST
Okolie down in 1st
Report Des Pond August 9, 2016 12:03 AM BST
Okolie came back well after knockdown
Report Des Pond August 9, 2016 12:04 AM BST
Okolie good right
Report Des Pond August 9, 2016 12:07 AM BST
another rd for savon, but he looks beatable, imo.
Report Des Pond August 9, 2016 12:12 AM BST
decent effort from Okolie
Report Des Pond August 9, 2016 12:15 AM BST
Not sure about Savon being favourite for gold, tbh.
Report Des Pond August 9, 2016 10:50 PM BST
watching middleweights at the moment, but there is not much point in trying to bet on here. Some of the fighters I've been watching are not even listed in the 75kg category on Betfair, and Anthony Fowler is still listed on the market, even though he was eliminated yesterday. Watching a Zambian, Muziyo, who is not listed, neither is the Indian who won the last bout (although the American he beat is still listed on the market). Feck knows what is going on. Confused

Great win for Britain's Light-heavyweight Joshua Buatsi, knocking out highly-rated Rasulov of Uzbekistan in the 3rd Rd.
Report GLASGOWCALLING August 11, 2016 7:19 PM BST
just watched that fight, buatsi looks a promising sort. the other guy was number 3 seed as well.

seen him in a couple of interviews as well and he seems a really likeable bloke. one more fight for a guaranteed medal...

... GO ON JOSH !!. Happy

Levit should win the 91kg bout, but some strange judging in 2nd round gave it to Tischenko. Good last rd for levit, if he doesn't get the nod there's something wrong!
Report Dan Chipowski August 15, 2016 11:46 PM BST
That is a ****g farce.
Report Des Pond August 15, 2016 11:47 PM BST
Robbery! worst decision ever, no way Tischenko won that fight, he was nearly stopped fffs. Angry
Report Des Pond August 15, 2016 11:47 PM BST
That is disgraceful.
Report spyker August 15, 2016 11:48 PM BST
Russian filth, in hindsight, from the start he boxed like he knew he'd already won
Report Des Pond August 15, 2016 11:50 PM BST
they even gave him a rest when he was being battered. Cry
Report spyker August 15, 2016 11:53 PM BST
That's what confirmed the fix and that everyone was in on it for me - the ref couldn't wait to give him that break (which he could have done at any time). the last round was 10-8 to levit and russian should have had standing count, feck knows what the Irish judge had been drinking!
Report Des Pond August 16, 2016 12:02 AM BST
yes, very strange that. It should serve as a warning though. Don't bet too much on Boxing, especially at the Olympics.
Report spyker August 16, 2016 12:08 AM BST
I'm betting nowt after that!
Report Des Pond August 16, 2016 12:10 AM BST
Don't blame you! Grin
Report sean rua August 16, 2016 8:32 AM BST
Dreadful decision: Levit was the clear winner and was near to flattening the big dude who looked like he had the flu.

How was the fight scored?
Whoever thought the Russian won must see things differently from the old rules of boxing.
Report GLASGOWCALLING August 16, 2016 5:06 PM BST
just when you thought it couldnt get any worse....Mischief
Report Des Pond August 17, 2016 12:18 AM BST
Joshua Buatsi beaten in the semis, by a tricky southpaw from Kazakhstan. Right decision, Buatsi wasn't able to outbox an opponent with better footwork and smarter movement. Great performance, though, to get this far!
Report Des Pond August 17, 2016 12:23 AM BST
Super heavy Joe Joyce through to final with strong performance.
Report eyeball August 17, 2016 12:26 AM BST
The kazak who beat Buatsi should take up kabaddi.....ran away for three rounds then held on when the opponent was in range.....the referees don't help , worse than useless
Report Des Pond August 17, 2016 12:30 AM BST
I thought he deserved the verdict, eyeball. Buatsi wasn't able to work him out.
Report Des Pond August 17, 2016 12:31 AM BST
I haven't seen the Conlon fight yet. rather controversial, I hear.
Report sean rua August 18, 2016 8:28 AM BST
Conlan won. Didn't get the decision. So-called winner injured.

Two Americans didn't get the right verdict either.

The rules and refs seem ridiculous now.

"  Hit without being hit" used to be the essence of boxing. It was called the noble art of self-defence.

The head injuries are invariably from head clashes or elbows, and there are very few knock downs let alone knock outs.
I remember Billy Walker used to be able to flatten them.

Something's different. A load of slapping.
Report Des Pond August 18, 2016 7:36 PM BST
Light heavy final La cruz v Nyazimbatov, Cuban La Cruz - incredible refexes and movement, must be like fighting a mongoose or something. Silly
Report GLASGOWCALLING August 18, 2016 9:01 PM BST
i think cruz was odds on fav at the start of the tournament.. you can see why now.. terrific display. Happy
Report sean rua August 19, 2016 12:12 PM BST
Yes, very good, imo.

Joe Joyce on now, cagey start. 1st rd to Dychko
Report Des Pond August 19, 2016 7:31 PM BST
Wish the BBC would tell us if the fight is actually live, better 2nd rd for Joyce
Report Des Pond August 19, 2016 7:35 PM BST
dychko hurt, Joyce on top, should win
Report Des Pond August 19, 2016 7:37 PM BST
great win for Joyce. never know with Olympic judges though
Report Des Pond August 19, 2016 7:38 PM BST
WD Joyce, against huge opponent.
Report Des Pond August 21, 2016 7:23 PM BST
Good bout at 64 kg, Sotomayor just has the best of it in the last rd, imo. Good performance from both fighters.
Report Des Pond August 21, 2016 7:23 PM BST
great right at the end for Sotomayor, should seal it for him.
Report Des Pond August 21, 2016 7:25 PM BST
They gave it to Gaibnazarov, no complaints, but I though Sotomayor just edged it.
Report Super Hans August 21, 2016 7:27 PM BST
Sot for me as well.
Judges probably wanted to bring him down a peg or 2.

Report Des Pond August 21, 2016 7:40 PM BST
Joyce needs to knock him out, now.
Report eyeball August 21, 2016 7:40 PM BST
what are the judges watching ?
Report Super Hans August 21, 2016 7:42 PM BST
Harsh
Report spyker August 21, 2016 7:42 PM BST
Boxing should be kicked out of the olympics - utterly filthy.
Report Des Pond August 21, 2016 7:46 PM BST
Another poor decision. I can only think that the judges ruled that a lot of Joyce's punches landed on the arms. But, still, Joyce threw and landed more, to my mind, certainly won the 1st Rd and should have had a share of the 2nd at least. On aggression and volume of punches, Joyce should have won.
Report Des Pond August 21, 2016 7:48 PM BST
Joyce seems to be quite stoical about it, But I woud be aggreived if I were him.
Report eyeball August 21, 2016 7:49 PM BST
Thought Joyce won every round.....wasn't even close.....seen some really poor judging here but see it all the time in boxing....
Report spyker August 21, 2016 8:01 PM BST
As someone else has said you don't get such decisions when judges are used in other sports. It must have happened that a diver/gymnast etc hasn't been happy but I can't remember there ever being a big deal about decisions being just so blooody wrong!
Report Des Pond August 21, 2016 8:02 PM BST
I hate to say it now. But I had a funny feeling about this one. When they were going on about Yoka and his fiance ( who won a gold), I thought to myself "they sound like they want a feel-good, romantic story". I was on Joyce pre-fight, but as soon as I saw the decision in the Sotomayor fight (which was close to be fair, but wrong, imo) I laid off my stake on Joyce, just had a feeling that he wouldn't get a fair shake. Good on Joe Joyce for being so calm about it.
Report casemoney August 21, 2016 9:03 PM BST
josh looked like he wanted to knock someone out Laugh

Disgraceful call by the Judges ,but Des spot on ,The Gold Medal wedding

Sports that rely on a 'judge' about who wins always have a problem, such as this case.
Report scamboogah August 22, 2016 10:57 AM BST
I'm not British but Team GB robbed of gold there. I've been watching boxing for over 35 years but I've no idea how to score an amateur fight after Conlon, the heavyweight final and now the super Heavyweight final. The Turkish judge gave the French boxer all 3 rounds !!! What was he watching. The sad thing about it is that nothing will change, in 4 years time (when this will all be forgotten about) we will have a new set of controversies and the same debates will come up again.
Report stu August 23, 2016 9:35 AM BST
Anyone else thinking a pro fight between Joyce and Yoka would be good? He'd smash the French poser into pieces which is prob why it would not happen.
Report stu August 23, 2016 9:35 AM BST
As above though, I don't really get the point in amateur boxing - phoney sport really.
Report Facts August 23, 2016 2:04 PM BST
Conan was robbed. He clearly won the match. The scores from the judges were ridiculous.
Now he is to face possibly disciplinary action for his reaction to the result. Can you blame the guy ? He's put the last 4 years of his life into this - only to be cheated out of it.
Ironic that the head of the Board is making harsh statements against Conlan, whilst acknowledging that 6 judges were sent home for bad decision making. AND the whole scoring methodology is to be looked at following the result of the Conlan fight. In my book that's an admission that it was a wrong decision.
