very good line up of fights this weekend with plenty of betting action to be had. I've had a less than confident punt on Burns as already discussed, not much else on that card really. Anywhere around evens John Murray to stop Simpson would be worth a punt, the game Simpson surely too small again. Also wondering whether Appleby is worth a go at around 3/1 against (yawn) Scotty Cardle, although again size might be a factor.
Stieglitz - Abraham on boxnation is another interesting one, think Stieglitz took most of us by surprise the way he battered Abraham last time. Abrahams run at 168 has been a bit of a disaster and he's looking pretty done now but I'm still going to be checking the ko prices when they come out...far from convinced by Stieglitz still and think an Abraham without the eye injury will always potentially have the power to trouble him.
Over in the states the Chavez Jr-Vera rematch is a decent appetiser for the main event, what condition and even weight Chavez turns up in is anyones guess as usual. Really a better prepared Chavez should have too much for Vera but I don't know...chavez still seems convinced he won the first fight legitimately, maybe he'll come into the fight with no respect for Vera again and struggle. A focussed Chavez stopping Vera wouldn't look bad at 13/8, there again if he's out of shape I'd rather take a chance on Vera getting the decision this time at 7/1...need to keep a close eye on the weigh-in for this, maybe even wait for the inplay.
Probably the fight most of us are looking forward to is Lomachenko - Salido. It takes a special talent to fight for a world title in your second bout and still start as the 1/7 favourite but obviously Lomas amateur record speaks for itself. Salido is as gutsy as they come but that head down wide punching style is asking for trouble against Loma and I have difficulty seeing him make it through the first half of the fight. If he does things could get interesting but for my money this is one time when the hype is justified.
Lomachenko was awful, fought like a sparring partner. Wonder what HBO are saying on their broadcast after insanely hyping this guy as the next big thing.

The total lack of intensity from Lomachenko was startling. I guess when you win every fight you have you never develop the intangibles.
Maybe he should switch careers, perhaps ballet instead of boxing.

thanks alabaster. i just wasn't that impressed with lomachecko in his debut to think he was going to take Salido out. probably the most overhyped guy since Lacy

I flaked out before the Chavez fight so need to catch up with that, sounds like they both put in a good shift.
Loma was so disappointing, how can you demand such a big fight then show nothing until the final round. I suppose you've got to give him credit for seeing out the 12 without any trouble and not complaining about the low blows but with such technical advantages it was maddening to watch. I still think there's a good career in him but looks like they'll have to go a more traditional route and make a few changes along the way.
