It is located on the Wimmera Highway, 30 kilometres from the South Australian border, in the Shire of West Wimmera local government area. At the 2016 census Edenhope had a population of 946.[1] The township of Edenhope was established some years later than nearby Apsley, the Post Office opening on 16 July 1864.[2] The town sits on the shores of Lake Wallace, which is home to abundant waterbirds, and is a popular fishing and water sports destination. Lake Wallace is now filling again after the Australian drought, and the waterbird population is slowly increasing. On Lake Street in the grounds of the Secondary College, there is a cairn commemorating the first all-Aboriginal cricket team to go to England. Edenhope has a horse racing club, the Edenhope Racing Club, which holds the Edenhope Cup meeting on the Labour Day weekend in March.[3] The Apsley Racing Club also hold their Cup meeting there in April.[4] Golfers play at the course of the Edenhope Golf Club on Laidlaw Avenue.[5] Edenhope has a football club that merged with Apsley in 1999 that now competes in the Horsham District Football League but was formerly competing in the Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League until 2006 then the Kowree-Naracoorte Football League until 1992 then the Kowree Football League until 1937. Edenhope’s best known footballers were brothers Thomas and Oscar McDonald now currently playing for the Melbourne Football Club and Alex Forster a former player at the Fremantle Football Club. Edenhope hosts Henley on Lake Wallace on the second Saturday in February.
Realise it is unlikely, but is unusual for them to put him in a race like this. Couple of decent races in Sydney with small fields could have well been in.
Does race better in bigger fields. Likes Flemington. Usually running around with 59+kgs but carrying 54.5 today.
Haven't watched the vision, and a very weak study here.
Form through Bons Away and Eduardo, Eduardo (56) Bons Away .1L(56) Dothraki 1.2L(57.5) Eduardo (52) Bons Away 1L (54) Eduardo (54) Bons Away 1.2 (58.5)
Eduardo 7.00 second favourite. Today meets Bons Away both carrying 52kgs, barrier 21 for E and 4 for BA. Dothraki gets 3kg.
Osborne Bulls, the favourite, coming from barrier 22. Equal with Bons Away with 5kg extra, only 4 today, which adds a length.
Obviously finding the favouring scenarios.
I no longer have financial interest in Dothraki. One of the reasons I was happy to sell, was I disagreed with the races they were putting him in, and disagreed with how they ran him. Never any question on his ability, but he is a pack horse that lacks killer instinct. He runs best when he pushes to the front, kicks off the turn. Always puts the anchor in with about 50 to go. They ran him as a hold up horse for most of his starts and put him in listed races giving up 5+ kgs to the rest of them.
For whatever reason, he now finds himself carrying 54.5kgs in the Newmarket. His last few starts, last start in particular shows a big difference in intent of jockey and horse. Clearly they instructed him to lead, kick into the straight, and try to hold on. He near did. What he did do though, was kick in the straight. He got run down, but he fought the length of the straight. Still needs the race to be run the right way to give him the edge, but he is starting to learn what racing is about, probably in his last race lol.
Race 5 Sydney, 1000m, G2 490k. Redzel in it, but only 6 runners. Race 6 Sydney, 1300m, G1 490k. Trapeze artist favourite, Dothraki beat it last start. 7 runners.
Both suitable races, big chance to win one of them, big chance of second in the other.
Now the Newmarket is 1.3 million dollar race. But that is only about 250% of the other 2 races. There is also a field of 22 runners.
Either they think he is travelling well enough to warrant bypassing the other 2 safe options of 500k dollar races, or this is his last hurrah. Always felt he was good enough for this race at low weights, and at least based on last run looks to at least have gained a fighting instinct in the straight even if it isn't a killer one.
I certainly don't believe he is likely to win, and am not claiming he should be favourite. 120/1 though seems a little silly. I don't believe he will be far away and given it appears they are ready to run him forward, most luck is taken out of it. Give him an eyeball to run beside in the last 300m and he is well in it. Surely they think he is running well enough to warrant the trip?
Hardly watch races any more, and nothing I say comes from anybody but myself. No contact with any connections for over 2 years.
Any Dothraki love today?Realise it is unlikely, but is unusual for them to put him in a race like this. Couple of decent races in Sydney with small fields could have well been in.Does race better in bigger fields. Likes Flemington. Usually running ar
