Interesting to see if one or more of them change their plea --guess we'll find out how thick their friendships are--especially if they are looking at a custodial sentence.
As the hearing entered its second week, witness David Bartley yesterday asked Magistrate John Murphy to forego his evidence for fear of ruining his relationship with his daughter.
‘‘I do not wish to give evidence against her ... she’s my baby girl,’’ he told Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.

Harness-racing trainer arrested in race-fixing probe
November 16, 2017 6:47pm
A VICTORIAN harness racing trainer has been arrested by police as part of a criminal investigation.
The Herald Sun has been told the inquiry is looking into allegations of race-fixing from several years ago.
Detectives from Victoria Police’s sporting integrity intelligence unit executed two warrants in central Victoria on Tuesday.
Searches were made of properties in the Bendigo area. A Victoria Police spokesman said a 60-year-old man was arrested and interviewed.
He was later released from custody pending summons. That man has been a harness racing trainer for decades.
“The investigation remains ongoing,” the police spokesman said. It is believed the current investigation originated with Harness Racing Victoria, before intelligence gathered by its officials was passed to police.
A harness racing figure connected to the properties declined to comment when contacted by the Herald Sun.
“I’ve got no comment at all,” he said.
Victoria Police set up the sporting integrity intelligence unit in 2013 amid heightened corruption concerns.
It has previously run significant investigations into claims of **** events in harness racing across the state.
They included a probe which resulted in prominent Mildura figures Shayne and Greg Cramp pleading guilty to criminal charges of race fixing and being hit with community corrections orders.
The father-and-son team were also suspended from the sport until 2027 after an internal inquiry.
In a separate probe, arrests were made last year over allegations that a 2015 race at the Cobram track in northern Victoria was fixed.
Harness Racing Victoria has moved to protect the sport from corruption in recent years.
It has heavily bolstered its investigative and integrity areas in a bid to identify and weed out rogue operators.
The anti-corruption fight took to the skies earlier this year when HRV investigators used a drone to capture images of a trainer-driver stomach-tubing a horse on April 6.
Brian Sylvia later pleaded guilty at a stewards’ inquiry and was disqualified from the sport for 15 months.
Stomach-tubing, or drenching, involves administering a bicarbonate solution in the period before a race to neutralise the build-up of lactic acid in a horse.
This, in turn, enhances the animal’s stamina.

Cramp and son-- Shayne Cramp, 31, Victoria's leading trainer in 2013-14, and his father, 58, pleaded guilty on Thursday to fixing a race in Mildura on November 12 last year, in a scheme that pocketed the younger man $820 in a trifecta bet.
The men were charged over the November 12 race, where they both drove horses and arranged for the son to win and the father finish second, ahead of another trainer's horse.
Shayne Cramp had bet $100 on a trifecta through an associate, but there was no evidence his father made any profit, the court heard.

"Maggies Grin was extremely fractious in the parade ring and refused to enter the track despite concerted efforts from driver Laura Crossland and a number of connections. Nathan Jack was the approved late driver change for this mare, as Ms Crossland did not feel it was safe to continue in her attempts to get the mare to proceed to the start. Maggies Grin continued to be extremely fractious before warming up appropriately in the preliminary. This mare has now been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial. Stewards refrained from taking action against Nathan Jack for applying the whip to Maggies Grin on one occasion when not holding a rein while attempting to get the mare to proceed to the start. Maggies Grin tired badly to beaten 69m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities other than a slower than expected recovery rate. Driver Nathan Jack (Maggies Grin) was queried in relation to the overall performance of his drive and the tactics adopted. Mr Jack stated that his drive was extremely worked up and he progressed forward three wide during the initial stages with the intent of challenging for the lead however Maggies Grin was unable to muster sufficient speed to issue a genuine challenge to Swiftly Tothebeach and therefore raced without cover for the final mile. Mr Jack further added that Maggies Grin was a beaten horse with approximately 600m to travel and the mare’s antics prior to the start, in his opinion were a major contributing factor.
How on earth was this horse allowed to start on a 40c day. Treating punters like mugs

Greg Hayes is a fish out of water in SA knows nobody or nothing about SA harness. Warragul dogs is their main priorty and they've conducted interviews with everbody including the gateman. Meanwhile Shepparton shoot themselves in the foot by not having regular power checks and come a gutsa..blackout. The end for a great sport is nigh.

Harness Racing had a strong foothold in a Melbournian's vernacular until the complete takeover by Sky in 2000. Poor leadership at HRV in the ensuing years has seen it slip right off the radar and I don't think the new regime has got a handle on turning it around. Desperate times!

Nathan Jack drove Parisian Amore at Shepparton the other night. It blew from $1.90 to near $3 in a 6 horse field, a mountain of cash was convinced it couldn't win. Proceeded to TAKE ON STABLEMATE for ages early on, clearing out by 20m over a sprint trip. Obviously busts a gut doing this and just hangs on for fourth. Nathan basically tells stewards, 'yeah it looked bad but it wasn't that bad' and they go 'ok'!

I've never, ever seen drives like that from stablemates. From anyone it is crazy, with the known exception of trainer drivers who do stuff like that all the time. But according to the stewards this sort of thing from establish professional drivers is perfectly accetable.
'When considering the statements of the driver, taking into account the circumstances of the race and in particular the minimum distance for which Mr Jack applied pressure to the leader, and the overall sectional times recorded, stewards did not feel the driving tactics adopted were unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further other than to note his comments.'
No action!?!?! Not sure what you have to have smoked to consider that a 'minimum distance'. I've been betting heavily on Vic trots for many years but if this sort of thing is fine by everyone then it's time to cut back.

Following an extensive review of Harness Racing Victoria’s (HRV) Licencing Policy and consultation with the Victorian Trainers and Drivers Association (VTDA), the HRV Board has approved a revised Licensing Policy draft and a Show Cause Committee Charter (SCSC), which will commence December 1, 2018. The revised policy includes an overarching requirement for the participant to be “of good reputation and character, and is a fit and proper person to hold the licence for which the applicant has applied”

Chris Alford (Victoria Brew) explained elected to show gate speed from barrier seven in an attempt to gain the lead off Catch A Moment (barrier 1) racing into the first turn however was unsuccessful in that attempt. Mr Alford added that he then elected to direct his drive to a marker peg position following Catch A Moment (leader) approaching the 1700m due to him being mindful that Victoria Brew might not be suited to racing outside of the leader, due to the early speed shortly after the start. Mr Alford advised that at the previous two starts of Victoria Brew the filly had either lead or raced behind the leader and he felt that at given the early work endured and the exposed form of Victoria Brew this would give the filly its best chance if able to get a clear run nearing the finish. Mr Alford further explained that rounding the home turn on the final occasion when held up behind Catch A Moment (winner) he was unable to shift Mota Mate wider, due to that gelding’s inside wheel racing in advance of the front legs of Victoria Brew. Mr Alford added that in his opinion Victoria Brew finished the race off well when able to gain clear running to finish into second placing. In assessing the recent racing history of Victoria Brew and also the comments of Mr Alford, Stewards recorded his comments.
After sitting outside Catch A Moment in the final and winning easily do the stewards have his comments recorded for a time capsule? or will this be followed up?

Kima Frenning, trainer/driver of Buster Brady, was cautioned for not notifying that the gelding was wearing hopples. In assessing the matter, stewards were mindful that Ms Frenning was only presenting her 2nd career starter to race. Stewards did not make a pre-race announcement to this effect due to not being informed prior to the race by the relevant official, who has been counselled on the need to relay such information in a timely manner.

The Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards advise that The Boss Man was scratched from its engagement in Race 4 at tonight’s Tabcorp Park Melton meeting, a heat of the Trotters Inter Dominion Championship under the provisions of Australian Harness Racing Rule 193(5).
Naomi Malone has also been scratched from Race 9 this evening by Order of the Stewards.
The scratching relates to a raceday stable inspection being performed this afternoon and concerns held that The Boss Man had either been stomach tubed or attempted to be stomach tubed.
Stewards further held concerns that Noami Malone may also have been treated in breach of the rules.
An investigation remains ongoing into this matter and no further comment will be made at this time.

Kima Frenning, driver of Better Than Heaven, pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the first turn she permitted Better Than Heaven to shift in tightening Im Very Willing before approaching the 1400m Better Than Heaven shifted in further resulting in Im Very Willing making contact with the inside sulky wheel of Better Than Heaven and Im Very Willing being checked and breaking gait. As a result of the contact Better Than Heaven suffered a flat inside sulky tyre which resulted in the horse being retired from the event passing the 700m. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the relevant considerations as outlined within the HRV StewardsMinimum Penalty Guidelines placing particular weight on Ms Frenning’s guilty plea, her recent offence record, important upcoming driving engagements and the degree of interference to Im Very Willing and Better Than Heaven, which resulted in both runners playing no competitive part in the event. Stewards issued a four week suspension of Ms Frenning’s licence to drive in races to commence midnight 13 January 2019.
