Spring carnival is always a good time to have a look around and see which bookies are offering bonuses or promotions since I like to give new bookies a go.  I always read the fine print though and this year I am seeing a growing number of Australian states being excluded from these promotions.  Does anyone know why NSW has been added to the list of excluded states ?  Is this a recent regulatory change in NSW, or a change in regulations for where bookmakers are licensed ?

If so, it kind of amazes me that regulations are changing that negatively impact punters while so many bookmaker exploits seem to go unchecked....

i'm offended Angry

are they suggesting that we punters residing in qld haven't got a fkn clue Wink Laugh

---

most people i guess would put the $200 on an evens fave or shorter

no offence meant and i'm certainly not a big plunger at all myself and dont even single bet as much as i did back in the 80's ..

but it's picking up one-off pennies in a sense ... and they'll drop you after a few wins and your profile (new or old) is then sent/traded to all and sundry

to be honest i can't stand this free-offer bullsh!t ...

the sooner they allow on-course stand-based bookies to utilise the internet fully it is a sum-reducing game we are in
(assuming of course that 'real' bookies then don't tumble into the game-of-redcutions regarding winning punters also)

and exchange model is the only model a punter should wish for ... in regards to expansion

and the industry can't stand it so what does that say about their thoughts about us  Cry

the sooner they allow on-course stand-based bookies to utilise the internet fully it is a sum-reducing game we are in

'real' bookies on the full internet options would set up an 'over $500 per bet' login and an 'over $1000 per bet' login to cater for their roller's with rank & file using another login area .. so for the 'real' bookie they can separate the turnover kings (and determine better or worse odds as disposed)

they would have to bet to the on-course limits ... and the overseas fleas& grubs buying into the corp structures would be forced to 'compete' once and for all

and the raceclubs themselves should set up an alternative exchange model (sorry BF) to mop up the exchange trunovers directly

but hey ... that's not the world we live in Sad

Wow.  Not the response I was expecting and I am still none the wiser regarding my question…

But since the thread is being diverted to a new topic, I’ll bite - Drugs should be legalized anyway and have regulation similarly to “responsible service of alcohol”

Banning free offers is a nanny state mentality.  If joe punter wants to have a small bet and score a bonus then why can’t he ?

yes quite correct Free ... let me rephrase my statement (if it needs it)

"punters should self-ban themselves from the free bet offers ... in the desperate hope of picking up a free penny from the street"

teaching oneself how to mint pennies from self knowledge is a far more valuable exercise imo ... however having said that i may be hypocritical in the sense that if forced to shop in supermarket i will always only buy the "specials" Laugh

i justify that to myself by thinking the 'special' price is the price it should be sold at anyway and that the 'list' price is nothing more than extortion through unthought-out-acquisition at a time where i ned to replace something that i could have bought earlier at its 'true' price)  Wink

but .. we're still digressing sorry

an extra cost to corps re NSW horse racing was introduced a while back by RNSW ... called a product-usage fee or something

why it was added just now to the free-bets if that was the case i honestly do not know

it seems most states are off the list now ... and as a qld'er i am somewhat offended if they just think we are hopeless en masses in converting our free-bets to winning bets so are happy to let us try Laugh

Ok, thanks for attempting a decent answer.  It’s appreciated :)

One of the issues I see here is that I am certain that some punters will get caught out not reading the fine print.  They may get lured in on the promotion but not realize they are excluded.  I mean, really, if you’re excluding NSW, VIC, SA & WA that is around 75% of the Australian population gone !

you (the bookies) are not allowed to offer free bets to induce NEW clients in those states, however once you are a member of the said bookie, you are free to accept all bonus's and freebies.

perfect loggy .. that will be the reason ... and i did not realise that

if it is a political rather than a racing industry law then you have provided the way around it ... if the corps will allow it

My Mum just had a $200 Free Bet on the Japanese Horse that won the Cup
She is normally a 50c ew Punter.
She was betting in 100s on Sat night as needs to turn the winnings over so many times before she can withdraw.
She turned it into an extra $1000
So far can withdraw $1200 but she has to privide her life details to do so.
Hopefully she can turn it over without losing any.
Hopefully this account doenst get Banned for her Bet365, Sportsbet, TAb and Ladbrokes they wont let her bet anymore
