4-0 IMO, bating line up is very brittle filled with blokes who have not earned their spot but are lucky enough to be the last man standing and the bowlers show potential but as you sain if Mitchell is getting a game it can't be that good enough for international cricket at the high end
|

hoping to avoid them by taking my steaks off the barbie when they're rare.

walking wicket, no
but you're a walking ****wit |
By:
Going to be embarrassing unfortunately due to our selectors not picking the right players, the talent is still there but they have to be given an opportunity, cowan, warner, hughes, god help us.
|
By:
Do you suffer from tourettes SecondComing
|
By:
|
By:
Fair enough, but surely the Op's question was well intended. I watched a program the other night about a poor bloke that couldn't get a girlfriend as he suffered from tourettes and everytime he went a date, the first thing he said was fook off bitch. I know Aussie Driver suffers from it
|
By:
whoever prevails - and england would have to the form pick especially at home - it will be a hard-fought win, imo. can't wait. i also feel that if Aus are to do well, much will depend on Clarke's form and Eng should really target him.
|
By:
I have watched too much cricket to totally dismiss Australia. Even the batsmen, many of whom I barely know their names. Weve never heard of anyone until they actually start performing pretty much by definition, having said that your batting clearly lacks experience andthere will be real pressure on Clarke to lead by example. Your bowlers look tidy enough if you can get your best ones out fit and firing. Not beyond the realms of possibility that Mitchell Johnson performs, but I suspect he is a choker and not a risk worth taking. On paper we look far the better team but still England look toO short at 1.6ish imo.
|
By:
the new and improved johnno will rip you to pieces, clarke however will not be described as the "golden eagle of australian batting" ,as greg chappell was, when he led an ordinary australian team to england.
|
By:
Will Michell perform when 80pc of the crowd are singing the Mitchell Johnson song though?
|
By:
i don't know of this song bob... is it on one of your albums ?? Is it a beer barrel dirge or can you sing it while skulls are being fractured.

Before, during and after his golden duck SCG 2011. The England fans absolutely love him. The "fanatics" (don't make me laugh) would have responded but they had inexplicably disappeared. |
By:
Don't think Johnson will get a bowl tbh, will be behind Pattinson, Siddle, Cummins, Starc and maybe even Bird.
|
By:
Bird has to play over there. He reminds me of Terry Alderman & Glenn McGrath who both were perfectly suited to conditions. Doubt johnson will play unless injuries to others mentioned by Joel
|
By:
Yes was impressed with Bird but problem is who to leave out. Most likely they will all get injured or be rested so they will all get a bowl at some stage.

Poms heavy favs in my book.
Aussies are one of the worst sides ive seen in many years |
By:
This summer could get quite messy judging by your efforts in india. God help you if Clarke doesnt perform, of course rain could save you from total humiliation.
|
By:
The Poms don't really have any decent spinners though. I am still comfortable with my 0-5 bet and will most likely top up when it drifts a bit more.
|
By:
An innings and 135 runs having declared first innings.
|
By:
The lowest first innings declaration ever in a non rain affected match.
|

Australia desperate and giving away baggy greens to asylum seekers!!!

He probabably deserves it more than certain English playes
|
By:
According to the BBC:
Under current ICC regulations, Ahmed will be eligible to play for Australia on his existing visa after 18 August, but this would mean he would miss the first four Tests of the five-Test series in England. Joel, I think you're confusing him deserving it with Australia needing it. Still, you evidently need all the help you can get and your government will no doubt fast track his full citizenship. After all he's been an Aussie resident for nearly 3 months now |
By:
Thats good enough for me, let him play the next match imo
|
By:
Regardless of how the two teams are going, the Ashes clash between Australia and South Africa is always riveting, I can't wait
|
By:
Looks like England aren't doing any better against the kiwis
|
By:
The english ****wits who posted here thinking they were in the driver's seat going into the ashes have gone conveniently quiet
|
By:
They've always been the same, you only ever hear from them when they are on top
|
By:
Yes we only ever hear from them when Australia do badly, as if somehow that makes them a winner. A common trait in negative people with not much going on in their lives.
England are a better team than Australia at the moment and barring major injury problems they should win the Ashes pretty easily, perticularly with home ground advantage. Although if they play the way they have over the last few days that may not be correct. England - 167 off 330 balls Rutherford - 167* off 211 balls Not a bad debut. |
By:
Dont worry gents. I'm going nowhere me.
|
By:
England often slow starters on tour. I wouldn't get too excited just yet.
I'm still in no doubt who's "in the driver's seat" fwiw. Good luck in Mohali next week btw. |
By:
guys you can rest assured this particular englishman is here come rain and shine, victory or defeat, as i've already posted i think it will be a much harder fought ashes series than is commonly held
i'll just add one caveat, albeit a rather obvious one, you will need michael clarke to fire pretty much on all cylinders and that is going to put him under severe pressure and second-coming why such language, it hardly makes for a fireside chit-chat on sporting matters, don't be so defensive btw, did you know that many english people barrack for the aussies if we are out of the tournament or not contesting, such as in the swimming or the netball or that world cup match when the ref gave it to italy, i feel it is you guys who initiate all the adversarial stuff, i first noticed it when i came to hk 20 odds years ago, i thought we all loved each other due to having a fair bit of family in Oz I suppose. |
By:
btw, did you know that many english people barrack for the aussies if we are out of the tournament or not contesting, such as in the swimming or the netball
Errr, not this englishman. Maybe against italy in the world cup mind. There is little doubt that, at this moment in time, our team is better than aus, by a fair distance.... On paper. There really is a chance that we give them a spanking. But it is not beyond the realms of possibility that some of their batsmen stand up and be counted. IT Is easy to mock the likes of cowan, hughes, warner, tw@tto and co, but we just dont know. Test history is littered with players who didnt do well and often just didnt look like they were cut out for it at first but went on to have great careers. Maybe swann's operation doesnt work, then we will have a weak fielder and batsman replacing him though monty is still a fine spinner. We could have injuries to important players, the aussie speedsters are not too bad, not great, but decent. If they can get cummins fit and firing could be interesting.. 1.5 on England looks about right to me, but 1.5 shots get turned over all the time. Lots of ifs and buts, but i cant wait. |

Aussie press take a reality pill and gomes up with a few areas to work on: Poor performances by the leading players Poor basic skills generally Confusing selections Inadequate succession planning An ineffective coaching structure Poor team culture Lack of accountability for these issues and team performance generally 2 more tests before the Ashes to iron out these minor issues. Sould be a doddle |

digging the boot in I see
|
By:
never mind this, what about the absolute b0llocks of dropping four players for not completing their "homework"
what are your cricket administrators up to? the punishment is ridiculous. it is neither proportionate to their error nor efficient as it deprives you of their talent i'd say exactly the same if this had been the england selectors it is modern sports management gone bl00dy mad. i also thought cutting Simon Katich adrift a few seasons ago was not in your best interests either, even if he did have that dispute with Clarke. They really should have been able to resolve it and have never effectively replaced him, imo. |
By:
i mean, fcuk me, what will the cricket administrators want next, a bit of crystal healing, it is just a load of sh!te to this outside observer
the only thing i can think of is that the dissention within the camp goes deeper and farther |
By:
Is this mens cricket? Who really cares, a bit like mens netball. The womans game is where it's at, and to the best of my knowledge Australia recently won the world cup.
