not sure what he is going to do but sounds like he won't challenge
|
By:
ffs ... did he really make this announcement over in washington lolol
|
By:
yep, he loves a big stage
|
By:
LOL
now we all realise ... don't we ... if it wasn't for ... the global / euro / USA ... fiscal meltdowns then australia would be the absolute laughing stock of the whole entire world at present (hey maybe swanny orchestrated this whole global financial situation to divert the world's eyes from our local ... umm ... err ... well joke of a political situation and if so ... then he is the world's grestest treasurer ) |
By:
Kevin Rudd resigns.. And there's one vacant spot left on Dancing with the Stars. How convenient
|
By:
... love it ted
|
By:
Teddy
we're doing great Thebas - watch out Abbott, Rudd is out of the way - Julia is coming to get you |
By:
julia's gonski womble ... who else is in the wings now
|
By:
She has till Christmas to improve in the polls Thebas or Smith will step up
|
By:
has ruddy resigned from all politics or just the one dayers
|
By:
i think he will challenge. he will spend week gathering support. wouldnt be surprised if him & a couple of his mates threaten to quit party & force election.
|
By:
wow ... interesting
this might rank 2nd only to ... 'the dismissal' situation ... should it occur (but who would play julia in the ensuing mini-series ? ) |
By:
This is a don't think i'm gunna continuing supporting Gillard if you don't reinstate me as leader statement to the rest of party.
|
By:
its a spillard
|
By:
he has said he won't do it by stealth Kye - so maybe he could try to do it Monday out in the open but either way he isn't even close to the numbers to win - apparently the Gillard supporters have said they will the traditional 1/3 of MP's rule if he wants to have a crack, they know imo
|
By:
and this little Abbott said, "Whee-whee-whee-whee!", all the way home.
|
By:
does it at 1am in the morning - wtf??? he is losing the plot
|
By:
womble he may not have numbers now but 4 days is a long time in politics & politians are quick to jump ships
|
By:
he has to almost double up on most counts Kye - Gillard is long odds on if he does. Based on what he was saying i'd be surprised if he does.
|
By:
1am there but 1 hour before the 6PM news here.
|
By:
it will all happen v quickly.
First he will secure independants & several will jump to him straight away. Then he will make some broad policy statements & a few more will jump. By end of weekend several others will decide they might have better chance with Rudd & will jump. In two weeks time Rudd will be leading party & Labor will be ahead in polls. The alternative of staying with Gillard will be destruction of the party & certain loss at the next election/ |
By:
Kye - you;re dreamin
only question is does he go to the back bench or the cross bench imo |
By:
kye could well be on the right track here
we know wilkie will jump do we know how bob the builder feels about all this has brown ever had a conversation with rudd ... that is on record i'm off to do a quick 'speed reading course' ... to keep up with the jez & womble posts that are sure to be coming up |
By:
of course he is going to challenge. but hey you keep with the party ine
|
By:
Gillard has Brandt, Oakeshott and Windsor - no dramas there
|
By:
poor julia and her faceless henchmen will be fuming he got in first.
as bolt said....any MPs who thought Rudd was about to be put in his place “once and for all” have got a shake up. Think again, boys gutless prime minister not putting crean in line shows rudd had no support, rudds a very smart man, i hope he brings down julia with a challenge in the next few weeks, whther he wins or loses, a 1/3 of ministers voting for rudd puts a no confidence in julia......bring it on !!! |
By:
I think he has little to gain by challenging for the leadership. Whoever leads the party will get wiped out at next election. He should quit politics & go make a fortune in the private sector & leave Julia in a mess
|
By:
That is EXACTLY what he should and almost certainly will do PC
|
By:
As if.....
|
By:
he doesn't need the money, his Mrs is loaded
|
By:
You obviously have no clue how the world works AFL
Womble, he may not need the money as such but most of these guys want to do something with themselves. Private sector consultancy would seem a logical pursuit for him |
By:
You obviously have no clue how the world works AFL
........................................... As if he is going to do what you suggest. He said in his statement that he wants to ensure that Abbott does not win the next election. He also said that Abbott does not have the temperament befitting a Prime Minister. |
By:
wait and see i guess
|
By:
Now I recall why I don't contribute to or read these political threads on here very often, punters like you who don't have the faintest idea thinking they are experts
|
By:
his ego will mean he wants something as high profile as possible imo
|
By:
wish him the best personally but politically and mostly for the good of the country I hope this is the last we see of him in any high political office
|
By:
Hey, it's just an opinion, just like yours.
I didn't say it was an expert opinion, nor do i think i am an expert You say he will resign and go into the private sector, i say he wont do that. But somehow that has upset you. Enough to say that i have not got a clue, and you don't contribute to these threads because it upsets you that someone could have an opinion that differs to yours and they think they are experts. |
By:
And i have no idea about the real world because of my opinion.
|
By:
pretty sure he won't get a seat in the UN now
|
