Dragons injuries: 58' B Creagh (Knee, ok to play) 72' D Young (Knee, ok to play) Tigers injuries: C. Lawrence (Not expected to play)
Classy centre Chris Lawrence did not train on Thursday night and not expected to play. If Lawrence does not come up the coach has indicated that he will go with Matt Utai who is short, has bad hands and a poor defender. I would back Mark Gasnier to chimmy chimmy step him every time. Lawrence would be a significant out and the line would increase to -4. This shapes as a potential game of the season and the winner will have a great chance of playing in the Grand Final. The Tigers have won eight games straight during a period where they have had to endure enormous hard work off the field. They have been allowed to freshen now and given they have still not yet hit their peak playing form all looks good for them. They showed last year in the semis that they know how to go to a higher level and the big advantage they have over the Dragons is the X factors. They have the three best players on the field in Benjy Marshall, Robbie Farah and Gareth Ellis which often wins these tense games. The Dragons have Wayne Bennett to coach them, and they are such a wonderfully well drilled team, the Tigers will require their A game to win. We have invested into the Tigers futures to win the Grand Final, but that ticket will not be worth much if they cannot overcome the Dragons here. The Dragons are missing the grunt of Jeremy Smith and Nev Costigan that helped them win the title last year. They can still win because of Bennett but they are not as good and at the skinny odds they must be opposed in futures. There is no value in this game or in the Futures now but if you like either team, I suggest go all up which is much better value.
