In relation to R6 W Farm, the long and drawn out mounting yard "expert comments" that the cameraman waits for before showing the next horse included the
following from the little bloke (speaking about no-5 BEG)
"paraded very well"..."I had her on top, just waiting to see how she paraded"
"paraded very well"..."I had her on top, just waiting to see how she paraded"
"paraded very well"..."I had her on top, just waiting to see how she paraded"
"paraded very well"..."I had her on top, just waiting to see how she paraded"
So it's important you see her parade ??
Well thanks to the lengthy comments by the two experts, the next horse was the last one we had a look at before they were on the track,
the remaining half of the field we saw on the track, rseholes winking at us or at a distance behind a running rail FFS
If the parade is important as u intimated!!! show the punters you're trying to encourage to bet!!!
Had 6? bets today, with bet size decreasing according to the quality of mounting yard view.
To be fair, I should point out that Adam is not by any means the only one who seems to gain
pleasure from the sound of his own voice.
Shane Templeton seems closest to understanding a very simple reality
whether there are six runners or sixteen, they are only in the yard for about 5 minutes.

I don't feel the need to criticize their opinions on "appearance" or their assessment of form.
I do feel the need to criticize the hypocrisy (evidenced above) that exists between their verbal
references to the significance of the "mounting yard appearance" and the distinct lack of
"vision priority" of them in the mounting yard that they serve up to their viewers.
A UNIQUE PART OF THEIR COVERAGE , a true point of difference, sabotaged and ignored in so
many ways.

I don't see the point of Sam Hyland week in and week out picking 100/1 shots just coz they look nice - and keep running down the track last. If there is a prize for the best turned out horse, like they do in Hong Kong, fair enough. But there isn't!!! You have to mix in form with appearance...not just pick them solely on looks coz they look pretty...as he does.

Being a big fan of TVN, thought coverage of Rosehill was very ordinary for a big meeting. Ritchie came across as a TV advertising salesman with all the early favs. winning, he was too too loud and pumped, we want winners we're not here to buy racehorses, was a bit like that iritateing man who sells syndicates for racehorses. The big mans not right of late, no doubt he will bounce back and pretty high too. More importantly the lovely caroline Searcy ( nothin like a good looin woman with brains.) The people who organised her outfit were pretty much lacking flair for this lovely lady, looked like a Queen Victoria of the late 1800s with those colours. Personally I just love her in red or blue myself. Still overall there miles ahead of the scummy Sky racing team with there Casino type coverage.

On another note, an recent observation I found interesting....
On Sunday at Ballarat I saw a horse in the yard that I recognised as one I'd had something on (a place) when first up. (ran 4th)
Only backed it on the way it presented in the yard.

Was personally surprised by it's appearance, thinking I would be further impressed by "improvement" from it's first up run.
However, to my amateur eye it still looked "well" but from memory was carrying a little more condition than when

(R6 Wodonga ……6 runners!!!)
“And we ahhh take a look firstly, at Bringenbrong. …. Well he’s had a few hard luck stories throughout his career, Bringenbrong , but ahh the day he won at Seymour back at the end of December he really showed his true colours and in fact he goes very well at this venue as well he’s been here three times, his local track, in a race, for a win and a minor placing. I guess his race style has always made it a bit difficult for him because he has, in the past got back in his races he’s out to sixteen hundred metres today in a small field though, with a claim from a good draw and I would’nt be surprised if he’s you know in the second line if they do pair off in three lots…. of..ahhh.. two,
(Cameraman moves on to next runner,Penzevengi )
And I wouldn’t be surprised if hes just behind the leaders here..ahhh, he seemingly had every chance at Sandown last time he was in the running line about three pairs back he was brought to the centre he loomed up for a stride and he battled away in the race won by Crawfish and the form around him and Wyngardiam Leviosa is quite strong from his previous win in showcase seventy two and here he is in this regular seventy two and he looks quite well placed so Bringenbrong is going to be hard to beat.
Penzevengi is the two, Redoutes Choice gelding who David Hayes has been taking up the road to Sydney on a number of occasions trying to get some decent prizemoney up there and he’s run a couple of encouraging events including one time over nineteen hundred metres at Canterbury where after missing the start he actually ran on very well albeit with only fifty kilos on his back after Chad Schofield’s claim.
(Cameraman moves on to next runner, HEZACRUISER)
Ahh he went to the ATC meeting at Kembla Grange last start in a restricted ahhh no metro win race and he just kept on whacking away to the line so he’s been given a freshen up of five to six weeks and hence he drops back from two thousand to sixteen hundred metres ahhh and that won’t be against him what will be is maybe a lack of pace and from a wide gate the query is where will he land will he go back to the last pair and if it’s a sit sprint will he be able to run over the top of them so there’s a few little question marks there but on ability on the class of horse hes been ummm meeting in his last couple of starts he’s well placed coming back to this level. Here is Hezacruiser…well he had a good campaign last time in work put together a couple of victories at Wangaratta and at Seymour then they took him to town and everything was thrown on it’s head when obviously he pulled up scratchy because it was too bad to be true with a thirty length defeat he was given a good decent spell of about six months he won a trial and has returned this campaign wuth some encouraging runs especially his performance at Bendigo second up and his last run at Seymour when he raced in a forward position but couldn’t quite sustain it to the line. Just by default he’s the leader here in what could be a moderately run race and he has to be given a good chance based on that fact.
(Cameraman moves on to next runner, SET TO POUNCE)
he is five fifty out to six dollars.
Now at the other end will be Set to Pounce, no doubt, Set To Pounce who was a big improver coming back from a break this campaign he’s always shown ability but he must have had a few issues he started his career with Danny Obrien , Danny was able to get a Sandown win out of him as a three year old and then in a couple of subsequent short preparations he didn’t quite come up no doubt Erin was learning about him last prep when in four starts he was down the track each time but boy it was a good return at Kyneton he gave most of them a headstart was brought to the centre and really roared home under Stacey Rawiller then went to town again back to the scene of his metro win at Sandown back in two thousand and nine and went back there in early December and on a slow track he was far from disgraced. But his normal race style is
(Cameraman moves on to next runner, THIS CATS MAGIC)
to ahhh get back at least that’s been the case in recent starts not saying that he can’t adapt an on pace role because the day he did win at Sandown he was a joint leader so there might be some versatility there but in my speed map I had him in the last pair.
On to the six This Cats Magic for Brian Cox and Linda Meech . So Brian’s got a couple of strong chances here and This Cats Magic has got Linda the inside gate and ahhh a good record at this track its had four wins overrall , two of them at its home ahhh home venue. Now it’s going to get the right run from that gate I’ve got it in the box seat here on my map ahhh this it’s peak distance as mentioned ticks the box with the track ahhh comes out of the Courtya race against it’s own sex a few weeks back ago at Sandown prior to that was running well at Wangaratta and at Wagga in some ahhh country races
(THE CATS MAGIC LEAVES THE MOUNTING YARD AND HEADS ON TO THE TRACK !!!!!!!!!!!)
had to lump sixty kilos at Wagga and I thought did quite well coming from the tail of the field but today should be getting the right run
(Cameraman moves on to next runner, COSTA MUCHO, AS IT LEAVES THE YARD!!!!!!!!)
to suggest if it gets the right breaks could easily win this, three dollars eighty there’s good money around for it, in from four twenty to suggest it could threaten the stable companion, Bringenbrong.
And I can’t say that Costa Mucho won’t win but he is the clear outsider of the field and after all he is coming out of a…. a win last start in a cup race but it was a picnic cup as far as picnic standards go Dederang is not one of the most premier clubs it’s a once a year program not that far away in fact from here but you can’t knock him on what he’s done last start his two previous runs at Wangaratta were decent albeit in a 58 and at Towong in a non-tab 68 ahhh I’m willing to risk him but he’s won eight races throughout his career so he knows how to win and he’ll be trying hard but I think others present as better options than him, most of his wins have been in lower grade races the benchmark fifty-fives and ahhh fifty-eights .
Alright these runners are about to arrive at the start….......
FFS !!!!!
Well, he might know his form?, he might be a good racecaller too?..............good luck to him
but.... he has shown , above........... he has no concept of "time" and no respect for the viewers at home who
want to SEE THEM ALL, IN the yard.
Needs to have a word with Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward or Brains
Next instalment, R7 Wodonga........ to come
Cross to Thunderbird, 10 mins prior to race he goes through the tote prices Then cross to mounting yard vision……………(R6 Wodonga ……6 runners!!!)“And we ahhh take a look firstly, at Bringenbrong. …. Well he’s had a few hard luck sto

They have a channel for each track and show the stalls, the mounting yard ... everything
I don't know why we can't have something similar here ...
Oh that's right, we have TVN & Sky

Max, from what I saw, Shane did his usual, "reasonable" job with the last race winner and
third placegetter unseen IN the mounting yard Hope you had a good day.
10 mins prior to race
(R7 Wodonga ……7 runners!!!)
And lets start off with Dandy Dollar well you won’t miss him he’s a ghostly white and Jake Duffy looking for a running double Christina Jeffrey prepares this horse and she hasn’t had the galloper all that long, at his best as a young horse as a three year old he was of city class and then he just lost his game and I’m not sure whether that was due to an injury or niggling issues or he just found his mark and ahhh regressed,
(Cameraman moves on to next runner SOLAR STRIKE)
but anyway he returned for the first time in a while last time out at Wangaratta and for his first up run in about ten months it wasn’t that bad, he was detached from the field he tacked on and passed a couple late but he hasn’t won for a long time and the last time he won was back in two thousand and seven but it wasn’t a stakes race as a three year old at Flemington of course he was formerly prepared by Rick Hore-Lacy so if he can find anything near his best he’d be a chance but punters not giving him that hope at thirteen dollars. Here’s Solar Strike they’re giving him a better chance he’s only seven fifty in from eight as well or she this mare , a winner T Towong at that non tab meeting we been speaking about, beat a horse called Rexzeal who had been previously highly competitive in this grade ahhh last time went to Albury on pace just couldn’t continue, ahh back to twelve hundred metres in fact may be a benefit for her she’s been here twice over the twelve hundred metres and has finished out of the money both times though one was a fourth and in fact both times were a fourth in seventy two benchmark grade so both decent runs in a higher level so she’s definitely in with a hope.
(Cameraman moves on to next runner HEESATOFF)
Next up is horse number five, Heesatoff now he’s the exciting one in this race where some of these might have found their mark or have had their best several preparations ago he at least is on an upward trend Brian Cox looking for a double, Linda Meech rides and Linda’s been on this horse two of its three starts including the win at Echuca where she steered it to a clear cut on pace win over Bordeaux. Went to Wangaratta the other day, came into the race at the right time and was just in a blanket finish battling away but out bobbed by Second Dozen and you’d expect that just the way he raced that day the twelve hundred metres will suit and he stays in the sixty eight grade in well.. it’s hard to really assess what ahhh..depth of this sixty..ahhh what depth this sixty eight grade has because
HEESATOFF STEPS ON TO THE TRACK
a couple of the horses that have shown city class ability mightn’t be racing at their best but ahhh he looks well placed nonetheless from an inside gate
(Cameraman moves on to next runner SOCIETAL) ON TRACK HEADING AWAY TO BARRIERS
to be in the first ahh two or three he’ll be at least leading on the fence or box seating I cant see any other position for him unless he does come away from the rails and race outside the leader.Ahh here’s Societal, Danny Obrien another runner for him at his first day up at Wodonga today with his team, he’s already had a winner this filly by Mossman was an Adelaide winner in her first campaign as a three year old, back to back wins after winning on the synthetic track but this time in she’s not the same same sort of horse as an older three year old ahhh she’s really struggled at Flemington and at Sandown both her only attempts at Melbourne metro grade which you’d have to say were stronger than Adelaide metro grade which she won in last ahh campaign but you do expect more from her now at her best she can race on pace press on from that gate and try and get a good run which does play favourably at this track but there’s a big question mark is she going well has she got issues
(Cameraman moves on to next runner PROVIDENTIAL) ON TRACK HEADING AWAY TO BARRIERS
that are hidden…ahhhh…maybe she just needs a few runs this time in to find her form not sure and she definitely is risky because of her recent runs. Three out to four forty is the current mark. PROVIDENTIAL is horse number seven with the one and only win at twelve hundred metres not the best winning strike rate, one from twenty, David Oprey took over the training of this horse early in his career after Robert Smerdon had him for his first three starts he knows how to place, he’s placed many times in fact nine but the wins are few and far between when he did win it was here at the twelve hundred metres albeit on a heavy track, I’ve always felt that he’s better over a slightly olnger trip than twelve hundred metres and a twelve hundred metre win on a heavy track may reiterate that but ahh he’s second up and his run the other day at Wagga over a thousand which has always been too short for him actually was encouraging, he’s got race plates on for the first time which is a good sign.
(PROVIDENTIAL HAS NOW ARRIVED AT THE BARRIERS!!)
(Cameraman moves on to next runner AVRIL STAR) ON TRACK HEADING AWAY TO BARRIERS
Well I think this ahhh gelding has a good chance today because of the claim and just the way it ahh meets the rest at the weights, Amanda Masters will take, I’m pretty sure, two and a half kilos off here , I haven’t heard an announcement but if she rides at her minimum it will be two and a half off the back of Avrils Star, Liz Albers prepares locally, Amanda knows the horse well from its two recent runs at Wodonga and at Towong , ahhh missed the start at Wodonga behind Garvan was good, had it jumped it may well have been in a better position and at Towong didn’t see that non tab meeting but in a sixty two was beaten a nose, ahhh just carrying that fifty two kilos today and the ability to race in the first half of the field is going to put him in very good stead when it comes to the crunch, he’s performed well at this distance and he’s performed well at this track and distance in combined, in combination, in the past in fact he’s never been out of the first three at the twelve hundred here at Wodonga, so he’s the one I’m leaning to at a decent price, nine dollars (HORSE HAS NOW ALMOST ARRIVED AT THE BARRIERS) And Roadacious,
(Cameraman moves on to next runner ROADACIOUS) ALREADY BEHIND THE BARRIERS
mare by Danroad, who’s second up today, a recent return at Corowa was ahhh fair it did cover ground from one of the outside gates it’s last win at Gundagai in a benchmark fifty five ahhh was a good looking win but just whether it stacks up to see it win today in this stronger class of race is what punters have to ahhh well toss up and at the moment they’re saying probably not and he’s been a drifter out to nineteen dollars. So that’s them as they arrive at the start…….
The viewers can READ..... breeding, riders, trainers, weights are shown ON the screen
buddy !!! Comprende?.... YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPEAT THEM... WE ALREADY KNOW!!
And that my friends is how it's possible to only show THREE horses IN the yard from
a paltry field of seven
It's almost a skill, being so fkn self important!!! Calling International Rescue.............. please take him back!!!!!!!!

Quick grab-bag/summary of the last few days that I saw.
At Sandown, Bruce said, after finishing them all in the yard......
"that's the mounting yard, while they'te IN the mounting yard, which is good"
Well said, Bruce. Encouraging comment, I'll leave the coverage alone.
Today at Mornington, however, cracking jokes while they were in the yard, comments from Gately in tandem,
no other meetings covered at all and lots of interviews , meant .... an opportunity to follow words with actions
was wasted ............ to the NAUGHTY CHAIR , Bruce!!
Saturday, Caulfield, the camera positioning included one "viewing" runners over and between the heads of
connections (crowded too) as they assemble and meet near the weigh in stalls.
Embarrassingly, they showed two other camera crews from? a ( professional outfit) who were positioned in the
central part of the mounting yard, gaining the best/clearest view of the horses.
Probably weren't even racing type coverages
Chalk and cheese
and the TVN mounting yard coverage reeks like Camembert

THUNDERBIRD OLZANSKI was gonna get a whack for mentioning during his SEEEmore meeting
preview that he would interrupt his wisdom in order for us to see Americain complete an
exhibition gallop.
HE HASN"T BEEN SO CONCERNED ABOUT INTERRUPTING HIS WISDOM IN THE PAST TO ALLOW US TO SEE
THE RUNNERS PARADING FOR THE FIRST RACE.
Question; CAN YOU BET ON AN EXHIBITION GALLOP?
Question; CAN YOU BET ON A RACE?
Question; WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, ADAM?
But then, he covers himself with embarrassment
by crossing to the Mounting yard, looking for Americain and says " I'm not sure if that is him
Americain is the one that's plaited up so that is, that's him, that's Americain ahhh so that's
him and the other one is Budai a former German galloper. Anyway we'll see these horses in work
very shhhh... in fact I'm not sure if these are, are they? No, no, Americain is ahhh black ..
so these might be the fillies. Mrs Grey and Mamas Choice... so we're going out of schedule here
thought..... geeez they're a bit snall for older stayers............."
A brown filly with a white blaze!!!!!!!
Who needs to whack you, Thunderbird? You mortally wound yourself !!!
You need to go.

The mounting yard coverage from yesterdays Sandown meeting, with some good size fields,
hosted by Shane and Bruce appeared to continue the good intent.TAKE A BOW, boys.
As for Thunderbird "Americain" Olzanski at Werribee...ranged from fair to hopeless as usual.
Shane and Bruce, any chance ya could pull him aside??.... ffs, seems oblivious
Oh, and btw Thunderbird, best not to ask a question than ask a stupid one

Will go back over the weekends coverage, soon. For the moment though, let us consider the
coverage of the last two days of yearling sales as a contrast.
Seemingly a DIFFERENT CAMERA CREW / PRODUCER
What they didn't do....
- cover the horses on screen with information ( in this case breeding/ stud farm details)
- choose camera positions located well above the horse
- choose camera positions reliant on human heads not obscuring the view
What they did do...
- Used two or even three screens (within a full screen)Auctioneer, bidder, horse.
Obviously a tiny "mounting yard", unobscured and well lit were conditions perfect for the
showcasing of a subject (yearling)........ but
if the same crew who work on racedays were in action, the powerful vendor/ breeding operations
would have had their guts for garters. .... Wouldn't that be lovely

THE INTERESTING HORSE IS BASHAN AND IT WILL PAY TO SEE HIM IN THE YARD
Oh, reeeeeeeeeeeallllly, Richard??? What are you saying?? hmmmmmmmmmm
Richie Callender on Get On
bemoaning, getting it wrong on his personal view of the mounting yard...
"when you don't have a bet in the morning, like Pierro, who I was declaring last week,
ya get there ya see him walk IN THE YARD, he made me look anorexic, he was huge, oh he was
fat, as Mark Sheahan said, "guts dragging on the ground" and you say huh, too clever Richie
boy ya did well here, and then they win anyway....."
Hmmmm, Richie, we hear what you're saying. You'd have been disappointed if you'd backed it
before you saw it in the mounting yard.
Just because you and others "got it wrong" doesn't change the fact that once again you
reinforce....... it's important for YOU ....to see them IN THE YARD.

Spoon i hear you brother but have a think back about 10 years when all we had was sky, you wouldnt have known there was a bookie on course because they never told you the flucs, you never saw a horse in the yard and they showed you half a race. Now If you think TVN are bad lets have a look at Sky, Matt Browning, Richard Freedman, Greg Radley, Jo McKinnon wouldnt know arthur from martha when it comes to form and then there is the bald Matthews who would talk under water for 20 minutes and say nothing. Please no contest. Secondly how many more trials are Sky going f**k up at the provincial trials, its a sheltered workshop.

Did notice Bart seemed "disinterested", he looked a treat in the yard though
Megsy, I do not dislike TVN. I dislike their negligence of the mounting yard coverage.
Starry, gimme a break....35 years ago, even the average joe was able to record and
replay footage. This is a TELEVISION STATION... they don't lack technology!!!
TVN is a dedicated thoroughbred racing channel...primarily NSW and Victoria.
IT EXISTS TO PROMOTE WAGERING.
To do that , it puts on "discussion" shows, race replays, "expert' analysis, trial info
etc and of course on-track coverage.
The "value" of "viewing" the horses in the mounting yard has been referred to by every
single person holding a microphone for TVN. The hypocrisy is.......
the only consistent hiqh quality vision of horses they have shown, was from....
THE YEARLING SALES !! ....no betting there , just so you know

Again couldnt agree more Spoon, we're not interest in listening to the like of caroline crap on about breeding pre race, richie, bruce, gately, richo waffle on with nonsense interviews with trainers pre race and if you insist on having them why do they have to be on the screen at the expense of the horses in the yard, they can be showing the horses at the same time and stick the talking heads in the top right corner of the screen.
It's not that hard, show the bloody horses each and every time that is your your job, take a leaf out of Nike's book and just do it TVN.

R3 Crossed to the yard 10 mins prior to start Some serious waffling meant the cameraman moved on to the next horse without waiting for the end of his assessments on more than one occasion, actually moved on to the 3 then the 4 while he was still burbling about the 2. When he came up for air he noticed this and said “we’ll have to slow down a bit here” 8 of 9 shown in the yard

It appears the "right" number for Jason to cover within the mounting yard is 6 runners, with a whopping
THIRD of the entire meeting's participants unseen in the yard
Kudos to the cameraman / producer who at least attempted to move through them at a more realistic pace.
Seems from the Race 3 embarrassment that Jason may be gazing intently at his IPad ala THUNDERBIRD, completely
oblivious to the movements, progress, within the mounting yard, just metres away.
I wonder if it's a coincidence that the two most....ummmmm.. "progressive" and "upwardly mobile" hosts are the two
worst offenders in regard to weighing up the value of their "assessments" against the viewers opportunity to see ALL
of the horses in the yard. Methinks it's not.
Offering his insight and opinion on runners and the race (overall)is part of the role, I understand that, however
preaching to the converted, there really is no need to consistently repeat details that are listed in every form guide
or who is riding them........ unless the audience is vision impaired. Offering insights into the Dam's racetrack
career when the horse itself has had a dozen starts, sending cheerios and burbling with the studio host may have a
time.....it's just NOT while they walk around in the mounting yard for 5 minutes.

Wins at $12 and the quinella horse also unseen IN the yard!
------------------------------------------------------------ The wash-up for Kyneton;
Another dogs breakfast, did get to see most of them IN the
yard but as highlighted above......MOST is NOT good enough!
Add to that the camera positioning, one at the bottom corner
of the yard and the other set up high......just plain DUMB.
For an example of how to "show" a horse on camera, the raceday crew should watch the Inglis Easter Yearling Preview show that Caroline Searcy presented recently. Now THAT is how to provide an opportunity to ASSESS a horse on looks walking in a loop.
Amongst other things, the camera was always shooting from generally North, they limited the vision restricted by angle and only filmed from ground level.
Of course it's different to a mounting yard with many subjects, however ..... it can be done. Raceday Crew, feel free to PM me for assistance if required. The helpful fact is that GOOD VISION of a runner probably only requires 5 SECONDS of vision, per runner.
In essence, Terry.... WE, THE VIEWERS, DESERVE THE SAME "VISION" THAT YOU HAVE!!
It's not alot to ask for is it?, really......

Irony determined that the FIRST FIVE HOME in the race were those 5 UNSEEN in the yard, with even the eventual winner #2 well backed
and allowed to miss the compressed coverage simply by being held a little longer in the pre-parade ring.
A promising start followed by .................. FUKKING PITIFUL "coverage" of the mounting yard !!
In summary, what a debacle. They showed in the first race that a decent coverage of the yard can be achieved, after that someone seems
to have forgotten where the line between FILL and COVERAGE is. The ONLY meeting to show for the night means FILL is required, some will
"work", some will not, regardless........... IT IS TIME FILLER. WAKE THE FK UP to the obvious!!!

An update from the Racing Victoria Chairman on Media Rights Dear Owners,
I write to you again as a valued industry participant regarding our media rights and the broadcasting of Victorian racing.
As advised previously, Racing Victoria (RV) has been working closely with Country Racing Victoria (CRV) and our Metro Clubs – Victoria Racing Club, Moonee Valley Racing Club and Melbourne Racing Club – since Christmas to successfully complete the break-up of TVN and to consider future broadcast agreements.
This work has considered the optimum broadcast models for Victorian racing via traditional mediums in homes, pubs and clubs; across the rapidly-evolving digital world; and to a range of international racing jurisdictions, whilst exploring new technologies to provide a better viewing experience.
Throughout this process, our primary focus has been on the future growth of our sport and achieving the best outcome – not the quickest – for the Victorian racing industry today and into the future.
RV, CRV and the Metro Clubs are united and committed to recruiting the next generation of punters, owners and fans and the broadcast of our product is critical to that.
It remains our firm belief that to achieve this we must ensure that more people can watch and engage with Victorian racing whenever, wherever and however they choose.
Ultimately, we are committed to increasing the customer base for Victorian racing so that we can grow returns to you and build future investment in our sport.
As you are likely aware, TVN will cease transmission this weekend with Flemington’s Super Saturday meeting the last to be broadcast on the channel.
One of our objectives throughout this process was to ensure that vision of Victorian racing is available on every Australian’s mobile phone, tablet and desktop computer.
We are collectively pleased to deliver this through Racing.com which will, from this Sunday, 15 March, offer Victorian racing live and free across these digital devices through ‘Racing Live’.
You will be able to watch extensive coverage of all Victorian TAB races wherever you are, with an expert team delivering pre and post-race analysis, interviews and news live from the track on Racing.com.
Racing.com will also continue to offer a free archive of all Victorian races, along with an expanding news service.
For those wishing to view on TV at home, or in pubs and clubs, Sky Racing will continue to broadcast Victorian racing on Sky 1, Sky 2 and Sky World from Sunday.
We remain in good faith negotiations with Tabcorp, the owners of Sky Racing, on a long-term arrangement for the broadcast of Victorian racing.
These negotiations, which separately and collectively cover our future domestic, international and digital broadcast rights, will continue beyond 15 March.
We are wagering partners with Tabcorp and have a common desire to expand the audience. Our wagering joint venture with the TAB extends until 2024 and we are committed to making it a continued success.
In terms of pay-TV, we are continuing to pursue the opportunity for a premium broadcast of Victorian racing on channel 522 – that occupied by TVN until this Saturday – however this will not occur from Sunday.
Another stated objective was to ensure that Victorian racing is available in every Australian’s lounge room. We maintain a desire to grow free-to-air coverage of our sport and will continue to pursue this.
RV, CRV and the Metro Clubs have negotiated with the Seven Network for 25 existing premium Victorian racedays to remain available on free-to-air TV following the demise of TVN.
The Seven Network’s coverage continues beyond Super Saturday with the broadcast of our standalone Saturday meetings at Bendigo and Mornington in the coming weeks.
We have also been working to develop a framework that will allow future broadcasters the ability to deliver a more engaging and contemporary view of Victorian racing.
As a result, the opportunity will exist over the next six to 12 months for us to deliver broadcasters multiple feeds from the racetrack, thus allowing more camera angles, interactive broadcasts and replays, as well as the integration of new technology like Trakus and Hawkeye.
From an integrity viewpoint, this framework will deliver enhanced connectivity allowing us to expand the use of our Control Room – a secondary raceday integrity team based at our Flemington offices – to all TAB meetings, with live feeds of Hawkeye and the photo finish.
In the break-up of TVN, we have also acquired Best Bets and Winning Post which will complement our digital offering on Racing.com by offering first class form guides and editorial in print.
Much work has been done since Christmas on building a platform for future growth and we will continue to work on achieving the right long-term outcome for Victorian racing – both locally and internationally.
I know people want a quick deal but our responsibility is to get the best outcome for Victorian racing. As an industry we are united in the goal of taking Victorian racing to more people on more platforms and ensuring we continue to expand the audience for our sport.
You can be assured that the interests of all participants are at the heart of each decision made.
We trust that you will enjoy the free and expanded digital broadcast on Racing.com and continue to watch Victorian racing on Sky Racing and the Seven Network.
Yours sincerely,
Robert Roulston Chairman Racing Victoria

... they mention a lot in their statement Spoon BUT not one mention about the parade yard .... which was so bad as a total overview it became laughable
the answer i received ... from the one email i wrote to them was ... it was more important they show the current tote prices
(as if punters couldn't get the current tote prices from anywhere else ... not their computer, not the multiple screens in the pubs, not the multiple screens in the t@b houses themselves ... ie they didn't give a stuff about the value of the parade and failed to see any significance in a full parade coverage to enhance the amount of $$$ punted - quite an abysmal business deceision for any industry to take)
