In relation to R6 W Farm, the long and drawn out mounting yard "expert comments" that the cameraman waits for before showing the next horse included the

following from the little bloke (speaking about no-5 BEG)

"paraded very well"..."I had her on top, just waiting to see how she paraded"

"paraded very well"..."I had her on top, just waiting to see how she paraded"

ShockedShockedShockedShockedShockedShockedShockedShocked

So it's important you see her parade ??

Well thanks to the lengthy comments by the two experts, the next horse was the last one we had a look at before they were on the track,

the remaining half of the field we saw on the track, rseholes winking at us or at a distance behind a running rail FFS

If the parade is important as u intimated!!! show the punters you're trying to encourage to bet!!!

Had 6? bets today, with bet size decreasing according to the quality of mounting yard view.

That's my rant for the day.

TVN, HYPOCRISY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER... LIFT!!!

LOL Chante Laugh

I finally got a pair of reading glasses a couple of weeks ago after ignoring the rapidly declining reality

over the past year or so. Cool

I have not the time to do comprehensive form, replays, etc, etc, (not that that would necessarily help me Laugh)

so recently, six or seven ? punting days I have relied solely on mounting yard vision to have a bet.  (place only)

NO FORM GUIDE Shocked

and haven't had a losing day yet I NEEEEEED THEM PITCHERS !!!!

looks like ure a winner today too ?? Good stuff

I agree. If you absolutely need to see a horse before it runs then go to the track. If you are this type of punter you are probably having less than ten bets a week.If that.If you are betting every race and want to see the horse give it up.You are a waynker.Get a grip.

OP, take ure point except sydney from melbourne is a long way (melbourne was a heavy track Cry)

also I'm no pro, trying to make wages or anything.

Saw SHA TIN on the telly earlier, absolute professional approach to the parade.

Graphics low on the screen, all (nearly) horses shown IN the yard, no full screen Cry

odds twiddling, trainer interviews, experts selections, etc

Pleeeeeeeease it just aint that hard, TAKE A LEAF FROM SHA TIN I SAY

It's an important enough facet to employ a "specialist" in Sam Hyland on a Saturday and the Quote from my original post

re-inforces that they appear to understand this!

I do like a bet, DA. When circumstances allow it I will have a bet in any race I like the look of something.

I am not advocating that betting without a form guide is a long term strategy

I do believe that a serious punter, betting without seeing them is like fighting with one hand behind ure back imo

It seems I backed 7 horses in 6 races today, with a reasonable look at the horses early, then as the day went on

I reduced stakes because there were often 3 or 4 I didn't get a real look at.

The last one I backed looked well IMO......... BEHIND THE BARRIERS Shocked

and the winner of the last was better seen on google earh than TVN

I am looking

A. To have a bet

B. To avoid rapidly emptying the account

C. To back a winner

HYPOCRISY EXAMPLE #2

From the bald guy today,as the remaining runners were completely obscured by the barriers

DURING THE "LETS HAVE A LOOK AT THEM IN THE MOUNTING YARDShocked

"apologies for not being able to see those horses, we're right on the back of Albury"

errr, NO Devil actually your verbose descriptions of the earlier runners meant

that by the time you finished, and the cameraman moved to the next horse, THEN THEY WERE

BEHIND THE BARRIERS !!!  DevilDevilDevilDevilDevil

Apology not accepted buddy as it was based on a falsehood

TIP; the "expert descriptions" of each runner offered by you do not have to

simultaneously co-incide  with the viewing of that horse!!!

For what it's worth ... here's what I'd like ... my stay at home racing utopia on television ...

One channel showing the race meeting from the Saturday Metropolitan meeting and the NSW Provincial meeting, say Randwick and Newcastle.

Horses enter the mounting yard at Randwick, filming starts and we follow each starter in the race as they parade. If there's only a small field show a wide-angle of all horses in the mounting yard until they go onto the track. Once they're on the track they can show whatever they like, play the interviews then if they want, show an old fashioned bookies board, give Caroline her 5 minutes of breeding crap ... when the horses are behind the barriers I'd probably like to see them for a while.

Race is run, show us a replay of the last 400m, show us a replay from head-on, then cross to Newcastle where the horses are entering the mounting yard for the first race and repeat all day.

Melbourne and VIC Provincial on another channel
Brisbane and Gold Coast on another
Adelaide and Perth on another

your diet is your business TB, I want info for punting, (their business) and they restrict it thru

incompetence, laziness or ignorance, unsure of how much of each.

BTW, my winning run of betting without a formguide came to an end today, but damage was minor

because betting with confidence ( in $$ terms) is impossible if you only get a decent look at SOME

or even MOST of the runners in a race. Shocked

LIH ..Just because your not seeing anything..doesn't mean theres nothing happening...it is a valuable tool..I got home late lastnite ..flicked the English racing on...had a look at the fav..it was heavily backed ...$6 into $3...from my inspection the Horse didn't want to be there...My first thoughts were this thing will miss the kick I should lay it....I don't bet over there was just watching.....Barriers opened and it stayed there didn't take part at all......Now that's an extreme example I know....U would be amazed how many Horses I've Layed and Backed just from the way they walk......So stop this ffs sh1t..these people pay TVN to see the parade and the race....please.
By:
Live_in_Hope
When: 21 May 11 00:09
the only part i will agree on lazza is that if people are paying for TVN ($1 month i think) to see them parade then they should be able to see them parade without all the graphics and tote stuff covering the horse. After all TVN only cover a select few meetings and should provide that service.
As far as deciding what to back by looking at them on a tv screen (or worse a PC monitor) i am not convinced.
I have only been here 2 and a bit years and its only since the mountaing yard mail propoganda machine cranked up that this topic has been discussed. Apart from something playing up badly or sweating up badly i just cant see anything that would make me change my selection or mode of a gamble. And ffs! good luck today!Laugh

LIH Laugh You asked the other day about Track bias at Sunnycoast...which is good edge ..especially if ur back marker is on a leaders Track...That was a good call by you...

I saw an interview the other day ...S Sciven was talking to Bernie...She ask about the Horse he was riding and said...seeing though it got beat last start from the Track bias....he butted in and said he doesn't believe in track bias..Doesn't exist he said....Now I'm sure that you would argue the point with him as would I....But really he would have a better idea than us in reality because he is on their backs ffs lol...

So if someone with no knowledge of Racing overheard ur argument with him they would say that your fkn crazy or something.....So please try and look at it as something that takes time to learn..it is an art...Seriously...It might pay for you to try and see what we are looking at...and yes we get it wrong too ffs.....But many a time I've seen leaders lead all the way on backmarkers Tracks too ...

I'll give you a small pearl....G Walter Horses...Don't back em if they don't sweat...His Horses that are right sweat alot and alot of people Lay these horses....Maybe you can try to find one of his now thats doing it....or if you like one of his and see some sweat u now know that, that is normal for his Horse.....Have a good day LIH.....Ring! maybe we could make a thread just for parade watches and people could post their pots or backs?
not trying for a free tip but i think it would be interesting.
no more negative comment from me here on it. will keep my thoughts to myself. I guess its just im really a facts and figures person and the whole parde watching thing is a little too subjective for me.

I like facts and figures man too...But as I say if I like something and I can get to see it before the race...Well I'd be silly not to use that particular tool....I went out to Randwick to back a Horse in the Summer Cup years ago ...Judge was there...Had a look at the mounting yard parade...Then I took off to the betting to back the Fav at 7/4....Judge said what are u doing you changed your bet..I said I've just seen the best Horse in the Country....it was Super Impose...This was before he hit the bigtime..so you never know whats going to hit you....I luv those days when it happens...

You would be amazed LIH ..Judge will verify this ...we were with a bloke who is the best I've seen in MYM ..He didnt know the form on this race he would just look at them.....He said to Judge I don't know what this Inghams Horse has done but it's a champion.....it was UNWORLDLY.....But he could do it in most races ..I'm not that good ....ffs...got go back later lol

Months ago LIH, when I posted some barrier statistics for the 1400m at Kensington as an example for a discussion that was going on between GCI and somebody else about winners that were leading at the 400m etc ... you commented that the only thing you could get from the stats was that the widest barrier had had no wins.

Now I'm not having a go or anything LIH, but those stats were interpreted by so many on here to mean so much, and it made a lot of sense to many arguments, but you just couldn't see what any of those people were seeing, and now you suggest that horse behaviour in the mounting yard is a joke and something that has only gained a mention since GP's MYM.

Yet horse watching has been going on since before you were in nappies, advances in understanding have surely been made since then, but certain signs do give away a horse's mood and temperament and it's not just sweating and carrying on like an idiot. I doubt whether any of us that watch for our own unique combination of things will ever disclose them to each other, however I'm also sure that none of them are original but just our own thoughts on what is important.

Take the question about salivating that I sent in to the Punters' Show, GP thinks it's a negative, however I'm still in two minds about it but I don't think I'll be explaining why any time soon ...

Perhaps as a concrete thinker you could entertain the idea that lateral thinkers see the same things that you see and interpret them a lot differently?

Have to agree, the parade part of TVN is getting worse.
The graphics covering the part of the horse you want to look at or simply there too late and they are on the track and you get a good look at their arse, terrific.
TVN tape the friggin mounting yard and discuss them like that and put recorded earlier or something you clowns.
Obviously the hierarchy are non punters like the TAB.

Shane Templeton (who I like) on seeing his tips up as a graphic on the screen, says

I had her in as my fourth selection but after seeing her in the yard I'd be happy to relegate her.

CLEAR MESSAGE AGAIN, TVN, HAVING A GOOD LOOK AT THEM IN THE YARD IS A PUNTING TOOL

considered valuable by your experts and re-inforced on a daily basis.
