Gilarion died early, he was going to be a superstar. Try and watch his win in the NSW breeders plate over Dream Prince and Vansagent, haven't seen much better, just amazing.
N Welsh did drive Deans special a few times, but i reckon he was gone by then(the horse). Otherwise Son of Nancy, Murray Mac, alphalite, Rundale(won 3 trotters derbies)

Deans Special what a horse. He won the 4yo champ at the valley, sat wide and blew them away. Speedy heystebury ran second, in the beaten brigade was Frosty Imp, Arunga hanover, Lea Sands and many other top horses. He toyed with them.
Deans Special then returned a positive swab from this race, I was devastated and still am 30 yrs later.

Interesting the over 80year chap named Stow bought for the Gath's Apre Ski and Gallant Rebel in the early 70's. For huge money at the time. Apre Ski $80k, was a great buy, and Gallant Rebel $100k, disastrous buy.

Elsu you left off that you owned Persistency, who if he had sound legs could have been an absolute star. Still managed to win 28 races and $500k.
And the much famed Cable Car, who Vinnie thought was going to be another superstar.

who was the legendary Kiwi horseman who was a champion jockey and driver. He drove NZ Cup winners and rode the winner of the NZ gallops cup and Derby. He also drove an Inter winner and won Auckland Cups. His son was also a legendary driver who won several NZ Cups. The family is NZ trotting royalty and are still involved in the sport.

Free Holmes was a driver of standardbred racehorses in New Zealand, possibly the most famous that New Zealand has ever had. He was known as "The Grand Old Man of Trotting". He is notable for being both a champion driver and formerly a champion jockey too! He won a unique double of the New Zealand Cup in 1888 for thoroughbreds, at Riccarton, riding Manton, and in 1919 driving Trix Pointer to win the NZ Trotting Cup at the Addington Raceway. [1] As a jockey, he also won the 1894 Grand National Hurdles and 1895 Great Northern Hurdles and Steeplechase with Liberator. [2] He also won two Auckland Trotting Cups.
"Old Free" as he was reverently known in the trotting fraternity was also an expert in the management of thoroughbred horses. He successful raced, trained and owned horses both over the fences and on the flat. He also rode and drove trotters. [3] His son Maurice Holmes was also a driving legend. [edit] Major wins

Maurice Holmes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Maurice Holmes (1909-1998) was a driver of standardbred racehorses in New Zealand. "Morrie" Holmes [1] was associated with many champions and was a leading driver of harness horses in New Zealand. His father Free Holmes was also a driving legend.
Due to his skill, Maurice Holmes was known as "the Maestro". As at 1998, he was the most successful reinsman in the history of trotting of New Zealand dating back to the 1860s. He had driven 1666 winners and amassed $2,054,555 in stake money over the last 49 years. [2]
Holmes drove a total of 1666 winners, in an age where there were not so many opportunities. His long career lasted from 1925 to 1974, and a career spanning 44 years at the top. On his very last night at the Alexandra Park Raceway, he drove 4 winners from 8 starters.

It is not unknown for a harness race offical to be wrong, or me for that matter
Blacks won 62 races to date, it looks like BAF won 15 races B4 it's M.0.win (giving it a max of 47 metro wins) It won a 15,000 race at albion c2-c5 final for which it would have recieved a metro assessment 12/11/05 Paleface won 108 (no doubt many up the bush) But i am confident it won many more than 60 metro assessed races
Unfortunately it is hard to find records for paleface
I would think there may not be much in it

Barney, Lol, Cane Smoke won 120races mostly less than country fronts, won about $80k.
Gammalite was a star at every age 2, 3 til he retired.
At 2 won the Group one Edgar Tatlow, which back then was the equivalent of a sires or breeders crown. Was touched off by Crystal Glenmar and Out for glory, in a couple of others. He also won a race at 2,3 &4 at geelong called the british insurance pace or something and collected a $50k bonus.
At 3 Won the SA derby beating Poppy then ran a place in all the mainland derbies that he contested: WA, Aust derbies(behind San Simeon, Vic derby(under a cloud), NSW derby( Action Advice) and Qld Derby (quambys Pride).
