agree there are other factors nick - still want to do it for my own interest
|
By:
Correct Nick. My assessment was only a couple of meetings. i'd be interested to know if any big punters like betting on them.
Lies, can you keep figures for next 6 mths & get back to us & GRV |
By:
lies did you follow hhh last night?
|
By:
Kye - just set a spreadsheet up in 3 categories of race - maiden, grade 5 and grade 4 and up, for both distances at both tracks - obviously the bigger the sample, the better...we'll see how long i last before i get bored
saw them nick but didn't follow - he seems a good judge |
By:
yes very good judge
doesnt post often and you can see why |
By:
Just a question to any Ziggy and any other Vic guys
Does the VOBIS have any effect on the quality of animal bred..ie- are they breeding within to qualify for VOBIS rather then trying to breed best quality animal |
By:
Ballarat racing for half stake money tonight. No idea why (don't they know it is Christmas), but that is the rubbish that we have ended up with. Will anything break 26.00 for the night?
|
By:
GOBIS pa - as i understand it, all vic bred greyhounds are eligible, no matter who the sire - so shouldn't have any effect
|
By:
p.s. hadn't even realised that bernie - i remember a few months back warragul had an inexplicable half-stake meeting on a tuesday night...fields were just as bad as this one
maybe it's to do with the extra meetings at the seaside carniavl at warrnambool?? |
By:
Just did a quick calculation on number of Tab/Sky meetings per state in a normal week. Obviously there is a change from time to time but this would be the norm.
Vic 15 NSW 12 Qld 7 WA 5 SA 4 Tas 3 ACT 1 (sometimes) |
By:
troy did well at the 'bool.i got**ed at dinner....fkcu balla if they wanna sevr up that crsp....sorry 'bout the spelling.lol
|
By:
I reckon 20 years ago there would have been 13 TAB meetings a week in Vic but only 5 with Sky Coverage.
|
By:
so people didn't know how sh1t the dogs at the non-sky meetings were??
just from when i first started betting on dogs (2000-ish) 2 meetings monday - Traralgon and meadows 2 meetings tuesday - bendigo and warragul 3 meetings wednesday - city non-pen, ballarat and warrnambool 2 meetings thursday - shepparton and sandown 3 meetings friday - horsham (non-sky), cranbourne and geelong 2 meetings saturday - sale and wangaratta (both non-sky) that is 14 per week, 11 on sky now it is 3 meetings monday - Geelong, Shepparton and Cranbourne 2 meetings tuesday - horsham and warragul 3 meetings wednesday - city non-pen, ballarat and warrnambool 2 meetings thursday - bendigo and sandown 3 meetings friday - shepparton, cranbourne and geelong 1 meetings saturday - meadows 1 meeting sunday - sale 15 meetings - all sky the only extra regular meeting is geelong monday morning, which started out as non-penalty/half prize money - some weeks it still is, some not - and sometimes it seems other meetings are non-penalty, perhaps swapped with geelong - sale, wangaratta and horsham all switched timeslots to get sky coverage would be interested to see figures on litters bred over that time - at a guess it would be fewer now than in 2000 quality is hard to gauge - also must factor in the rise in dogs being exported (asia, NZ, SA and WA)... |
By:
Intereting figures Lies - out of interest is it better for the dog punters to have all the meetings on Sky? Must help with turnover - i.e. more mug money about??
|
By:
if you are serious there is nothing better than the odd non sky meet
i would of thought |
By:
two interesting sides to the debate there!!
anyone who used to bet at horsham on a friday afternoon, relying only on tom shillington's calls, would say Sky all the way but can see nick's point as well all i know is we won't be going back to the dark days any time soon....healesville on a saturday afternoon about the closest we've got... |
By:
Good way to hide the form a bit i guess - with 3 Skys next year there will be probably be more not less on tv
|
By:
In Victoria they're actively trying to reduce the number of litters bred each year(particularly low quality ones) at the same time as running more races then in the past.
Although state boundaries don't really mean much in terms of dog movements and i presume the current prizemoney levels would attract quite a few interstate dogs to Vic. As for quality of racing, Tabcorp/Sky will take anything they can get. They want a race every 3-5 min all day 7 days week and the dogs are more efficient than the trots in terms of turnover vs time consumed. |

watch out for born louie at geelong this evenong...another nasty type

Ipswich greys R10
Sundance Special is becoming a nightmare dog for me. Drawn box 8 in a very winnable race. A faultless beginner, only the dog has two problems. Ippy 431 is tricky track for wide runners, drawn wide you need to cruise into the first turn at just the right angle , stay out wide and your left hanging out there. This is his problem so far(can he work it out)Then he wants to crash down on to the rails, usually on top of other dogs that have slipped inside him(stay out wide you mongrel I'm yelling) Box 1 looks danger, big run 23 dec for this class but done nothing otherwise. Any opinions? |

watch out for born louie at geelong this evenong...another nasty type ---------------------------- interesting ziggy - i already BL in my book, so had cool hammer from the red one out in the qad last sunday...i thought they were as bad as each other, both chased hopelessly in the straight for 2nd and 3rd - and neither got a mention from stewards |
By:
^ just watched the replay again - must have been the pocket talking, BL was a fair bit worse...
|
By:
p.s. COOL HAMMER is in race 4 tonight - drawn box 2 - think the red will brain him if she is anywhere near right
|
By:
interesting to see how the red goes in next at traralgon
has pulled up twice in last 4 starts...at sandown and the meadows - was found to be injured both times, and both sat trials were completed at traralgon... |
By:
Looked like she was going to pull up & then went again. I wish she had stopped b/c i had 4 & 5 in the quaddie
|
By:
BORN LOUIE - looked to ease a bit into the first turn, but chased well enough to win this time...
|
By:
spot on lies
loafed most of way |
By:
actually the 2nd dog was in the same race as BL on sunday - they both bludged into 3rd and 4th there with half a length between them, so you could say they ran up to that form...
don't know about the rest of the field |
By:
Sundance gets the angles right and bolts in.
Any one interested? Well I wont bother any more. |
By:
sorry baby john - a great tip 5 times over, but i don't bet on ippy
|
By:
p.s. considering this is a thread about a non-chaser, and you started your post with 'is becoming a nightmare dog for me', i didn't know it was a tip!!
sorry i didn't read on... |
By:
just happy to get feedback
|
By:
first race at horsham - 8 That's mactime - last start at bool was last away, hit the front on home turn, had a little nibble with 2nd dog, then waited for something else to go past....
|
By:
sale r8 no1 tonight - fervent
law to beat a poor field by only a length on friday at its favourite track, traralgon - very interesting to see how she goes at sale tonight - she has pulled up the last 2 times she has raced away from traralgon... |
By:
Booma Gubby got the red at Meadows tomorrow.....guaranteed carnage has lenghts on them will pull up at least twice.
