shep rac4 4 no 10.
my son rates horsham dogs and called me over to watch this animals last run (from the pink at horsham on the 22nd of dec.Troy (my son) nailed it for loafing 3 times in the one race.....amazingly it is permitted to start today.

hopefully it will be outpaced and outclassed so that it doesn't interfere with the race....
seriously someone from GRVshould look at the tape...it's still on their poxy website so you can all have a look.better set of disc brakes you will not find.

previous runs are sats,so they knew something, before that it went mental at bendigo on nov. 19th in a 550.

perhaps they reckon I'm just a nuisance...I probably am but a nuisance that knows what he;s lookin at.

ziggy, if they gave out bans to all dogs that failed to chase, all the recreational punters would turn off in droves, thats the reason they don't imo

you may well be right.a further consideration is that 'they' are running out of dogs to fill their fields,as they continually add meetings to satisfy the toes mantra.
in 2 or 3 years time fields will not have reserves as we will not breed enough dogs to service the meetings

red a late scr so this has a vacant box with the top picks in 345,should make for interesting viewing if it steps in front

They should have called it Booma Grubby.

Definitely a grub. Should lead but likely to pull up & hand race to the 3

Be interesting to see how Goodesy goes this afternoon after 2 inglorious performances

Bernie, Goodesy is now on my 'never to be backed' list (not that i bet on NSW anyway). Given than he has better draw & seems down in class

Yes Kye, well drawn and back to favourite track, but that was awful the other night. A lot of them give it away after continually getting knocked around, maybe he has joined that group

Great dog when he has some room. Similar to Queen Lyryn. Dont see him doing any good at Meadows but Sand, Albion & Cannington etc might suit.

just watched the horsham replay - appalling effort

two odds-on favourites at geelong sunday (race 4 and 5) both chased awfully into minor placings

they will keep sending them around while they need dogs to fill the endless meetings and stimulate that turnover

maybe its a lot harder these days to "encourage" a reluctant chaser?
Not sure, would have to ask a trainer.

Yes, Goodesy sure turned it on last night, back to his very best. Hard to believe it is the same dog that went around last week

they are so desperate to get full fields in Queensland you can get away with almost anything.
I have seen dogs take one step forward, one step back ,do the hocky pocky and still get away with it.

Did anyone see Edan's Champ last night?

Classic stuff. Stopped chasing about 3 times, fought & still managed to put his nose in front to win his first race at his 27th start.

As a punter i dont mind a few of these dogs in a race. Good for backing for place & taking multiples. Sometimes a bit more skill is required to predict their movements but overall i would say that i win just as much if not more betting on nonny races.

kye wait till you own a dog that gets taken to the outside fence but one of these dogs
you may change your tune

Nickw for your info I've raced plenty of dogs & my dog raced at Albion Park a few weeks back & a mutt almost knocked it into outside fence. i didnt back it b/c i knew it would find trouble.

Interference occurs in greyhound racing. If you don't like it then perhaps you should race your dogs in the UK where they have preferred draws & only 6 runners. Personally i much prefer our racing.

what difference does it make if you backed it or not???

we are better without dogs that pull up and fight other dogs in the run

B/c i said 'as a punter' i don't mind them racing.

Probably in the shoes of an owner or trainer i wouldnt want them in the field but i dont mind betting on races with fighters or nonnies. Especially dogs like Honky Tonk Daddy that are great place & quin bets.

There was an article in Canberra Times last week that Corporates in NT wanted an inquiry into a maiden race at Canb where only 5 runners were in field & several of them didnt chase at all. Not sure what they are complaining about b/c the ones that didnt chase had shocking form & winner was a first starter.

my concern re:number of dogs available to race is already starting to show.Ballarat has only 11 races ,no reserves and lots of vacant boxes, the bool ,slightly better, still looks decidedly thin.

how do you get it back to the old days zig, where every 2nd bloke in the neighbourhood had a couple of dogs?
By:

When: 29 Dec 09 22:50
i don't have the answer m8,but assuredly,we have far too many meetings and the quality we have to gamble on is diminishing quickly.
People are breeding rubbish and are able to be rewarded by racing for reasonable stakes with sub standard animals.

There is always a core group of about 20 no hopes that regularly get to run around in Ipswich maidens.
Send them to Bundaberg i say

re ballarat - 7 of the 11 races there are 390 metres - the least attractive ballarat meeting i can remember
By:
Kye
When: 30 Dec 09 05:08
I'm with you Lies. I hate 390m races or any short races that pretty much start on a corner. Most of the time i dont bet on them.

However trainers seem to like them & i had a look a tote holds for a couple of meetings & if anything the turnover was higher on the 390m races. Apparently the mugs in TABs don't mind betting on them.

Plenty of 520m races at Ippy tonight so i'll still have plenty of bets

ballarat a fair dinkum disgrace....troy is doing the 'bppl ,i'm of to dinner at a mate's place, see you tomorrow
By:
Lies, DamnLies, and Statistics
When: 30 Dec 09 05:15
i agree with tote figures it makes no difference - mugs will bet on anything, and probably half wouldn't even know if it was 390 or 450 metres - trainers liking them probably has to do with most of them breeding hacks who don't run 450 metres

putting the 390 boxes at ballarat shows where grv want to head, and that is not a great direction imo, particularly if 7x390 metre races per meeting becomes the norm
By:
Lies, DamnLies, and Statistics
When: 30 Dec 09 05:17
p.s. just out of interest and while i have time over the next month i will keep a note of tote pools for 390 and 450 metre races at ballarat and warrnambool - i will be STAGGERED if it isn't at least 10% higher on 450 races, but time will tell
By:

When: 30 Dec 09 05:20
lies only need a couple races to clash and will get very misleading nbrs
