sure but it's hard to get matched in a set market, at the right (real) price, where the bot there consistently sets it a tick or two too high, you're forced to take their price, and there's dire volume to begin with. 14k even is a bit of an outlier. 1.05 sounds great and all but it's expensive in a scenario where you should be getting 1.03 or lower

Mchale seems a clear cut case but in fact in her last 6 matches the first sets ended 6-0; 6-0; 4-6; 6-3; 6-3; 6-0
now in that respect that 20/1, but actually more like ~10/1* because you had to trade it to make any money.., isn't all that great. and this is without factoring in being prepared to lay more 1.0x were the market to go lower thus that 1.05 lay only partly being the risk you were prepared to take (likely what you're gonna be angling at in a Mchale match. or should be, because how else are you gonna catch that one other low 1.0x like she did this week).
we can talk about opponents of course but then again she does this stuff with just about any random player

*) for argument's sake because depends on where you tend to trade obviously

anyway point being is that, even when taking a player as extreme as her as an example, wrong prices/ liquidity is a good reason to avoid set markets. most people do. at times set(2) price will behave irrationally in your favour compared to match odds but again liquidity is your enemy, and or you need to cue up and watch those like a hawk, and that's an entirely other story for another day
excuse me for all the commas

fully agree. the liquidity in the set betting in general is dire, especially when there's many matches ongoing. it's usually ok in the featured match though, or when there's just one match that everyone is focusing on. I imagine the McHale set 1 layer took a crap price to ensure they got matched. it nearly paid off for them but not quite
Report wisewords March 9, 2019 5:28 PM GMT
and much of the rest you posted depends on whether you're laying to trade or simply to let it run. I imagine in this scenario they were laying to let the position run to a conclusion, but that's just my opinion.

wisewords, I got in touch with CS via the message service earlier today. The individual went and spoke to the concerned department and told me that it was because "they didn't receive the feed from the third party provider". I then asked if Betfair had a contractual arrangement to receive the feed, but if felt like this question was over their head, the response circling back to the failure of the third party provider. Anyway, I opened an account with the days of the year site and was astonished to see the bizarre range of live feeds that they provide. In some cases, they are little more than matched being played in public parks.
