The third Masters 1000 of the year, and the first one on clay, is here. Most of the top ranked players are there. No WTA this week but Fed Cup during the weekend: Germany vs Czechia, France vs USA and a bunch of playoff ties.
This edition of tennis talk will likely be the final one, at least from me. Activity has been so low lately that I don't see any point in continuing. But it was a good run, wasn't it?

These threads are weekly threads with just tennis talk: match talk, past, current or upcoming events in tennis etc. Spamming (including muggy politics talk) and general sports talk can be done elsewhere such as the usual megathreads, current one is called It's time for S/OT 6.

Shame if it's the last one, activity has been low because of recent tin pot tournies, Masters events followed by the the slam would increase activity, or least should.

For me this is where the season starts proper, first Clay Masters running up til the peak at Wimbledon. Downhill after that.

You see I do read your opening posts, and look, 2 posts already, another 16 and we've matches last weeks effort

It would help if the regulars started to post tennis related stuff here and stop posting it on the spam thread.

Things will pick up in coming weeks/months for sure. Things have been bad recently, but weeks like last week might have been the most dead of the season. Small events, 3 of the 4 had a lot of rain delays which isn't going to help drive discussion as less and less people are following them.

Nishikori playing much better than how he started the match now.

Hope Djokovic shows some kind of form against Lajovic to look like he's ready to challenge for slams again

When the good events like Madrid, Rome, RG and then grass court season kicks in, I'll be back in the thick of it. After IW, Miami then Charleston, there's a slight lull in the season.

what about one weekly thread for wrestling talk, then everything else including tennis goes in S/OT? At least that way you don't have to read about wrestling? Excited

Nishikori has been pretty dominant since an awful start. He nearly come back in 1st. First like 4 games he was awful and hit like 10 ue.

Berdych is a mug these days, but let's remember he's turning 33 this year. Everybody can't be Roger or Serena, or Flavia Love

What is Raonic's excuse for being a mug then?

as for Ranoic, clay not his best surface, I don't think he has shaken of all his rustiness yet and it was a long time ago he played on clay.

in an era with bionic joints Nishi would be winning more slams than Berdy

Berdych should stop trying to be Feliciano Lopez, cut his hair, and start working on getting himself back in shape. He doesn't look lean in the slighest.
