Amazing performance by two of the greatest ever .....hope the 20 somethings are looking at themselves in the mirror as they fail yet again to win a Grand Slam .....but I doubt it.

Only downside is a Championship won on a challenged point ....two blokes stood watching technology is not an iconic moment.

sorry to break it to you but by then London will have flooded/been covered in ice/ turned to dust/sank into the ocean
or worse it will have been rebranded to New New York Open

Report mesmerised January 29, 2017 12:51 PM GMT
Pat Cash ALWAYS goes on about Laver's slam record and missing a year when talking about the GOAT debate..Laver wouldn't make the top 200 in today's game.

Report geordie1956 January 29, 2017 1:04 PM GMT
Rod Laver wouldn't make the top 200 in todays game.. mesmo is right but he is 78 years of age...in his pomp Rod was the best...stupid to try & equate the greats of the past with today's heroes...different times but he is up there as one of the greats...perhaps even the best
Report mesmerised January 29, 2017 1:10 PM GMT
at 5ft8 he would have zero impact if he was a player today, it's nice for the aussies to have had someone who won in an era when tennis was still in the stone ages, but bares no relevance today.
Pat is putting him into the goat debate, which is just a big LOL.

You have to think Federer might be playing in his final year before retirement...come back from  a long term injury; wins a grand slam & nothing more to achieve

his "maybe I will see you next year" or however he worded it was a bit unexpected.

Report edy January 29, 2017 1:41 PM GMT
His request for Nadal to keep playing for many years to come because tennis needs him could also be viewed as a hint that Federer isn't going to play all that much longer.
