The Bank of Federer closed in 2010

His draw seems mission impossible tbh. Given his struggles in recent seasons to come back from long matches. He has Berdych, Nishikori then Murray just to make the semi's.

Not only has he got to win all those, you'd think he's got to win them handily to have a chance in the latter stages.

I do think he will do a number on Berdych, but not sure beyond that.
Report Platini January 20, 2017 12:21 AM GMT
He'll beat Birdsh1t alright. Then could be a fun match with Nishi.

Cool

huge price he was, as well.

blew his last chance at a slam at wimbledon 2015 final in my opinion
Report Platini January 20, 2017 4:51 PM GMT
WOW, Fed only 4/6 to beat Nishi.

Wasn't expecting that Surprised
Report lewisham ranger January 22, 2017 11:42 AM GMT
roger!!!

the path to the final is open Cool
Report Platini January 22, 2017 11:54 AM GMT
Looks do-able now. Just as long as Rafa doesn't make the final.
Report lewisham ranger January 22, 2017 12:02 PM GMT
exactly. although a rampant raonic would be no bed of roses either Scared

This was so true at the time you wrote this, but everything changes now with Murray out. I would given him very little chance against Murray after playing 5 sets, but now he's playing Mischa Zverev. Playing semis on Thursday and not Friday and getting an extra day's rest before final will also help if it comes do that.

Report Platini January 22, 2017 12:38 PM GMT
Murray would have beaten him, no doubt in my mind about that.
Now he has a bye to the semis, and there is every chance Wawa will roll over for him (as he's done so many times), and he's in the final.
Raonic will be tough to beat but the enormity of winning his first slam will get to Milos and Fed can win. Nadal is the one he doesn't want in the final.
He might get even luckier, imagine if dimugatrov gets to the final.Surprised

five down, two to go

the dream is very much alive Cool

certainly a possibility

Wawa will be the first player that Federer would of played that has any real substance about him, thus far it's been nobodies, mental midgets or players who game matches up terrribly (Berdych).

Could be his cheapest slam yet if he did win, without beating the world number 1,2 and 3 if Raonic loses.

It hasn't been vintage Federer, he just hasn't been given a proper challenge yet, the match against Nishi was always on his racquet.

Wawrinka should beat him and I'd be surprised if he didn't. h2h looks terrible but times change. Much closer to being mental Giant these days than he ever was and of course he has the game.

3.2 to win the title looks big..
Fed is 1.75 to beat Stan
that means he would be 1.8 in the final.......
which players in the the other half will he be 1.8 in the final?
I don't see any
Report Platini January 24, 2017 12:29 PM GMT
Nadal
Report mcfc1981 January 24, 2017 12:48 PM GMT
I reckon
Nadal 1.75
Raonic 1.7
Dim 1.6
Goffin 1.4
Report mafeking January 24, 2017 4:14 PM GMT
gotta be raonic's moment surely ? nearly beat murray here last year, beat fed at wimbledon and did everything but beat murray in the tour finals

might be a while before he gets a better opportunity

Nadal will be favourite to beat federer
Report mcfc1981 January 24, 2017 8:57 PM GMT
no way will Nadal be fav
Report mesmerised January 24, 2017 10:17 PM GMT
Nadal was favourite here two years ago to beat Federer, don't see why not again.
Report lewisham ranger January 26, 2017 11:45 AM GMT
one match away, come on rog Cool
Report Platini January 27, 2017 8:18 AM GMT
looks like prediction of Fed fav are misplaced. Fed is currently 11/10 in the outright. He would be odds-on now if that prediction was correct.

great shout. I didn't become a believer until 3 days later and even then I didn't think he could do it if he had to play Rafa.

Ladies, gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to reopen the bank of Federer 2017 ....Laugh
Some days you give your opinion and you're the "**** of the walk, the next a feather duster."

He wasn't at his top top level and I still believe Murray would have beat him like he would have last yeat at Wimbledon final if Raonic hand't of but will be intereting to see how the rest of the year pans out, cannot see him winning the French at all but Wimbledon maybe.
