losing to a clay mug like Murray? Never will win a GS again, probably not even an ATP 1000!
Report edy May 8, 2016 5:40 PM BST
He just won an ATP 1000 tournament a few weeks ago
Report bb66 May 8, 2016 6:06 PM BST
I know, this was probably his last as he was lucky with Djoker dropping out early
Report edy May 8, 2016 6:16 PM BST
Unless we assume that Djokovic will sweep up absolutely every tournament and never get injured or lose, there's every chance Nadal can win a big tournament here and there. Other than Djokovic, who provides these problems for everybody, there's nobody on the planet that Nadal is unable to beat.
Report edy May 8, 2016 6:22 PM BST
Is not being able to beat Djokovic a real knock on Nadal however? Not only is Djokovic the by far best tennis player the world has ever seen, he also gives Nadal in particular match-up problems.
Report bb66 May 8, 2016 6:30 PM BST
no way Nadull will ever win a big tournament on another surface than clay, so it will be enough to meet Djoker if he reaches a final on clay. And we all know Nadull is in the twilight of his career, his dropping curve maybe slightly delayed this year.
Report edy May 8, 2016 6:38 PM BST
It must be nice to finally be somewhat correct about his decline with you having predicted it for every season since about 2008.
Report edy May 8, 2016 6:40 PM BST

....but ha, now he is finally declining and you're having the last laugh.
Report edy May 8, 2016 6:49 PM BST
Why do you think it's completely imposssible for Nadal to win non-clay court tournaments btw?
Report edy May 8, 2016 6:50 PM BST

Report wisewords May 8, 2016 7:12 PM BST

Report bb66 May 8, 2016 7:15 PM BST
What I had predicted was Nadull's curve dropping faster than Fed's, probably his career ending earlier. There was one year my prediction of Nadull declining was wrong, 2013.

There is a lot of players who can beat Nadull off clay nowadays, if they fail Djoker, Mugray, Fed, Raonic or Nishi will do the job in the end.
Report edy May 8, 2016 7:21 PM BST
It's not about who can beat Nadal. The question was who Nadal can not beat.

I'm naive in these things anyway. I even believe Federer might still add no. 18 somewhere (if his current back injury isn't career ending and he keeps playing past this season), while every remotely sane person would say his chances are even slimmer than Nadal's.
Report edy May 8, 2016 7:24 PM BST
Meaning I have a hard time completely counting out true champions like Nadal and Federer undoubtedly are.
Report wisewords May 8, 2016 7:30 PM BST
ed you're not dumb. if Novak was to somehow get injured, I'd make Fed/Murray joint favs for Wimbledon if both healthy
Report bb66 May 8, 2016 8:49 PM BST
your question is unnecessary strong, therefor there is no reason to answer it, Nadull won't win a big non clay tournament, end of discussion till I'm proven wrong
Report edy May 8, 2016 9:46 PM BST

that is such a shame but if you could be bothered you could go back and find 100 threads about how Rafa's body couldn't take that punishment for long. I'm actually surprised he didn't break down before his first injury.
He's been a great champ but with all that spin & power if he played in the 1970's with those old racquets I doubt he would be top 20. Djoker, Fed & Murray would be.

Report edy June 1, 2016 1:07 PM BST
It's standard procedure to get tested when you withdraw. That's how Gasquet was caught coking back in the day. Does it seem very sensical to you to withdraw, and automatically get tested because of it, because you're fearing doping controls?
Report bb66 June 1, 2016 2:07 PM BST
The rumours I heard say, players would get tested in r4, top 4 for sure, so it was due to Fed's retirement. Did anyone see he had wrist problems? I didn't!
Report SabineIsGOAT June 1, 2016 2:21 PM BST
he had tape under his wristband during matches
Report edy June 1, 2016 2:48 PM BST
You didn't answer the question. Losers and players who withdraw are automatically tested. It's standard procedure, event protocol. So does it make sense to you to withdraw out of fear of a doping test if you automatically trigger a doping test by withdrawing?
Report bb66 June 1, 2016 2:51 PM BST
why test all losers, so your statement doesn't make sense
Report edy June 1, 2016 2:52 PM BST
You know who doesn't get automatically tested? Players who withdraw BEFORE the event. I know a player who withdrew before the event. Who will have known doping tests at RG this year will be tougher.

A mere coincidence he coincidentally withdrew before the tournament in the year that doping tests were gonna be tougher than usual?

To let the players tell you from a recent guardian article

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/mar/11/heather-watson-tennis-drug-testing-international-tennis-federation

Britain’s Heather Watson said she has been tested after a win only once in her career. “I got tested after I won once and it was awful,” she said. “I couldn’t go to the bathroom and I had to wait all evening and I had a match the next day. That’s only happened once. I think when you’re winning it’s not really fair [to be tested]. But, let’s say I’ve been tested about 50 times, I’d say 49 times were after a loss.”

The Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic, who recently broke into the world’s top 10 for the first time, backed up Watson’s comments. “My last test was in the Australian Open, after when I lost, like always,” she said. “If you keep playing [in a tournament], they are not going to test you [when you win]. I think they can but it’s normally when you lose and you have more time and they do the drug test.”
Report edy June 1, 2016 3:03 PM BST
They don't get tested after a loss at all tournaments, but at slams they are.
Report bb66 June 1, 2016 3:04 PM BST

Report edy June 1, 2016 3:04 PM BST

Report edy June 1, 2016 3:08 PM BST
If at least you had said he withdrew because he was caught doping and was hit with a provisional suspension. That would've been possible with the way ITF and WADA do things. The rumour you reported is not.
Report bb66 June 1, 2016 3:08 PM BST
so everyone is tested but the winner? Of course tests would be more efficient when they are taken out of competition, when players prepare during successive weeks before big events.
Report edy June 1, 2016 3:09 PM BST
all losers, withdrawees, and then the tournament winner.
