'Europe is very attractive for those who don’t like Britain.

For the liberal intellectuals and many of our elite, who saw themselves as cosmopolitan rather than nationalist, Europe was nicer than their brutal, xenophobic compatriots. '

I don't think that Maggie would support a Federal Europe which is what it will be in 5-10 years time unless there is a radical change of course. Without UK putting a brake on it, France and Germany along with Juncker and his gang will abolish any national vetoes and force every member state to have a single currency, single defence force etc. etc. Brexit was not about staying in the EU as it was 20 years ago, it was about leaving/staying in what it will become in the future.

anyone who has voted labour and is for remain has to listen to this podcast from this historian and the good thing for me is its reminded me of arguments used by the great labour pms and mps of the past on why the eu is a bad thing for our country..

Odd that Tony talks about "arch-tories" and starts the post with a link to the Daily Mail.

It's really not childish stupidity. You sneer at tories but frequently post links to the Mail, a Tory propogadist paper. Just noting the disconnect in that.

I agree... the Guardian would make you mental. I know 12 people who take anti depression pills and 11 reads the Guardian. Coincidence?

I'm now fairly wedded to the notion that "Labour Leave" is actually about as left-wing as Gary Neville. It's a front, a con, hoovering up the ukippers who don't want to wear the tory badge. The working class bods who need a nice easy answer to why their lives aren't as great as they expected them to be. Immigration, that's why. Well cheers LL. We'll get rid of immigration. We'll give you socialism. But only you, not them over there. You can have your cake, eat it, go the bog and sh!t out a brand new one.

I'd happily stake good money that in a few years it'll be revealed that the money behind it is in reality from right of centre origins and its aim is actually to fracture Labour support along the immigration line.
Report Dr Crippen June 25, 2018 12:25 PM BST
The Labour party was formed to represent the interests of the workingman. But being a part of the EU has seen jobs going to EU Nationals, wages suppressed and council housing going the same way due to free movement.
We've also seen jobs lost in industries like fishing, steel, and foundries through limiting their production.
Strain on all social services is also present because of free movement of people.

How any Labour supporter can support staying in the EU is a mystery, until we heed the words of Maggie when she once referred to the EU.
She said we nave to be careful not to let socialism in by the back door.
And that is precisely why many left-wingers support the EU.

They see the EU as their last chance of realising their socialist state.

just to show you up for your disgusting accusation labour leave was funded by contrubutions by labour voters,we also recived money from john mills..who is chairman of labour leave..we got no money from any right wing people..all our books were audited by the ELECTORAL COMMISION...suck it up.

Just as I thought, Lampus doesn't believe in democracy, because the Tories have to be elected.

He'd prefer a totalitarian government like the Nazis or Soviet Russia.

What gets me is why do people like them stay here in Britain?
Report PorcupineorPineapple July 5, 2018 8:11 AM BST
because Britain was the best of both worlds. Firstly, we speak English. Dead handy that. We have close ties with both America and Europe. We have well developed infrastructures, good education and governments that are very pro-business.

That's about to change though. They'd love to stay here but if we're putting obstacles in the way of their work and costing them lots of money then that trumps the niceties.

Too cushy for them to leave is the short answer.

It must be a guilt trip for many of them crips,so many liberals feed off the public sector host and feel they have to sneer at the workers for letting them have such a cushy ride.
