Remind me who wiped the floor with Clegg twice in 2014 in TV debates. Have they been honoured, too?

huge remainer is Sir Nick
Report Dr Crippen December 26, 2017 11:44 AM GMT
Openly campaign to give up the sovereignty of your country and earn a knighthood for your efforts.
Less than a century ago people like that would have been treated very differently.

Is this corporatism in action, where the only thing that matters is what's best for the multinationals?
And the only people who get on are the ones who do their bidding?
Report moisok December 26, 2017 11:50 AM GMT
No Doctor you are wrong.   I think it is rather pleasant to give someone an honour in their retiring years when their powers are waning and have nothing else to contribute.
Report Dr Crippen December 26, 2017 12:13 PM GMT
A knighthood used to be given to people in recognition for services to their country.

Yet here we have a knighthood bestowed to someone who campaigned to overthrow a democratic vote, after previously campaigning for proportional representation in order to promote greater democracy.

What kind of person is that?
Report Foinavon December 26, 2017 1:01 PM GMT
He even said that some people's vote should count double since they were more likely to reflect his views.
Democrat? My erse.

His one redeeming act was that he didn't side with Brown in 2010. Perhaps that's why he has been honoured.
Report stewarty b December 26, 2017 1:45 PM GMT
Knighthoods are ten a penny now and mean nothing whatsoever. Even Geldof has one...

I have to say I take my hat off to Stephen Hawking who could see through the gimmick.

Does this mean he can leech his way in to the £300 a day retirement home, and be in place to frustrate Brexit for the first time since the voters chucked him out of Sheffield on exactly that platform.
Report terry mccann December 27, 2017 11:04 AM GMT
I believe so

Meanwhile Sir Nigel Farage is still waiting while this turd lords it over us ??
Report Meadow X1 December 28, 2017 12:06 PM GMT
If you mean with Farage it's for being a serial loser whose party have made massive contributions to my bank account through by elections, general elections and leadership elections, please arise Sir Nige. He is a license to print money.

Ed Davey, Vince Cable and now Clegg.

Why? - Clegg at his worst.

Agree with Meadow.

Knighthood for Nigel

Clegg deserves nothing because of his treachery of collaborating with the Tories in 2010 and forcing Austerity on the British People and allowing the banks to get away with it all
Report A_T December 28, 2017 7:40 PM GMT
anxious it's precisely for this that he's getting one - prop up the party of the wealthy and privileged and you'll get your reward

If Clegg gets a knighthood it would be more disgraceful than any other person I can think off
He should be locked up

Agree with the first three words of Anx's December 28, 2017 5:40 PM GMT post.

Barry Gibb & Ringo Starr's, I also agree with.  Not many others.

Anyone on here who considers theirself working class and is arguing that one person should be honoured but not another instead of raging that the whole system is a massive fraud on the nation and we should be marching on Parliament to demand it be stopped. Well they should be ashamed of themselves frankly.
Report Foinavon December 31, 2017 11:31 AM GMT
You don't have to be working class to feel disdain for this unworthy system.
Honours should be reserved for the military and those who have shown courage beyond the call of duty in hazardous circumstances. Government officials and popular entertainers have been more than well rewarded already just for doing their jobs.
