Was almost $20,000 a few days ago, stands at $12,300 right now, down 25% today alone.

With a stock market reduction of at least 20% coming next year and the Italian banks about to go pop where will be the safe haven?

Gold chaps, gold, as it always has been. And be sure to remember the golden rule about buying gold - if you can roll over in the middle of the night and touch it, then you own it,if you can't, you don't.

Well at last...a big drop.
Hopefully people will now realize the the party poopers are here shorting bitcoin!
I had asked some months ago if there was a way of shorting these and my broker told me,no,as cryptos are considered too risky for market makers.
I don't know if this is true, however, what has clearly happened here is huge selling. As an old yorkshire saying goes
"what goes up,always comes down"
I cannot accept the "security" of cryptos as recently witnessed by millions stolen from the "cryptosphere" in korea.

It's a shame about those Italian banks. Perhaps we should join the euro and help bail them out.

Look who is shilling gold.

If you're a believer in "Burtonomics", you may help gold return to its 2011 level sometime in 2018.

PS Nice bit of aftertiming with Bitcoin Laugh

Gold is another commodity being hyped on TV. Caveat emptor.

I would like to buy some at Gordon's selling price. Unfortunately too late now.
Report unitedbiscuits December 23, 2017 8:19 PM GMT
Caveat emptor indeed.
In the ten years since the financial crisis, gold has risen by 50% (but still worth lower than 2011)

Over the same period:
Aapl has risen 600% (and pay a dividend)
Googl has risen 300%
Facebook has risen 500% (in half the time)

Burt may be right next year, but since he's been so wrong the last ten it's no surprise he is so angry. That's my theory, anyway.Laugh

Burt will be right next year, don't you worry about that, Biscuitbrain. Don't know why you insert the 10 years and angry lies, clearly still bitter over the referendum.

Wrong un.

Thought the financial crisis was a good starting point - but whenever Burt wants to start counting from, he is a bad loser and: see Burt is not disputing the figures but, then, he can't, they're verifiable.

'Loser in life' clearly applies to every remainiac - and you are there leader.

Another shock drop for bitcoin due?
The largest mining operation in China has had it's electricity supply restricted by the government.
The cost in kilowatt hours is NOT factored in to the price and this new year rally may only be temporary.
Report bullraider January 17, 2018 5:06 PM GMT
well
was I right?
Report unitedbiscuits January 17, 2018 5:25 PM GMT
We don't know, bullraider.
Did you make a prediction?
Report Burt06 January 17, 2018 7:47 PM GMT
Norwich @10/1 - there's my prediction for ye, Biscuitbrain.
Report unitedbiscuits January 17, 2018 7:50 PM GMT
I wasn't asking you, Burt. Or was I?
Report Gin January 19, 2018 8:36 AM GMT
During it's meteoric rise, Bitcoin had lost 80% of it's value five times - a drop of 80% from it's recent high would take it back to around $4,000. Would that be a buying opportunity? Who here would be brave enough to get in as it is plumetting?
