if human nature is to play as high as you can thats one of the reasons so many players go broke.
I always thought human nature was to succeed/survive and playing as high as you can is better known as greed leading to a fall.

You mis-interpret me completely. I don't believe thats what I wrote, it's definately not what I meant. I meant it is human nature to want a lot from life. Greed is human nature. However I wasn't suggesting that it is nature to play 25/50 with only a 2 buy in bank roll, I was suggesting if he is as successfull as you claim, and makes $3,500 weekly then it is natural that after a while he would move up, as he would have more than a big enough bankroll to take the swings.

Sitting with him and playing with him online doesnt really qualify you to say he is just in the top 1000 players in the world. If you had said in your oppinion he is in the top 1000 and I say that in my oppinion he is in the top 10 then we are fine, to say Im incorrect is the reason this has started.

I'm still not convinced he's in the top 1000 omaha players in the world, I just said he possibly is, I was mainly just confirming I believe he's a quality player. The fact is I totally disagree that he is in the top 10 omaha players in the world. Various people have told me I am wrong at times and I have accepted it most the times, and other times when I just think "what an arrogant**" I just ignore them and beleive in my instinct. If you take someone disagreeing with your opinion to heart so much then I don't think you should be expressing it too much, especially when the original opinion was a pretty outrageous claim.

I respect players who have been there and done that and are still in the game and still winning consistantly as its not easy.

I agree with this completely, the hardest part of the game imo.

He has played at the highest levels
I wasn't actually aware of this, I knew that he had some big wins in the wsop and had played 5/10 etc, but didn't realise he had ever played at the real high stakes.

and now makes a nice simple easy wage off players like you who wrongly assume anyone playing 1/2 or 2/5 cant be that good or they would be playing 25/50 or 200/400 and risking going broke if they run bad.
wow
This part has affected me.
a) I never said they couldn't be that good, do you not think that me saying he is possibly in the top 1000 is proof of this? And me constantly stating he is a quality player?
b) Why do you presume I mean that high? I was actually meaning that I don't understand why he doesn't play 2.50/5 and 5/10, because I've only ever played him at the 1/2 tables as far as I'm aware. If he moved from 1/2 to 5/10 and his bb/100 dropped from say 10/100 to 7/100 he would be making more money wouldn't he, and he wouldn't be at risk of going broke if he runs bad.
You are the one that used the $6,500 a week figure. So say he plays for 40 weeks and makes that much a week, he has $260,000. Surely this is enough buyins to play 2.50/5 if you want to be safe. It is more than enough to play 5/10 imho.
c) I don't know if you were fishing or anything, but I'm not the players that he will be making all of his money off. This will be off the other players who are worse than me. I don't claim to be particularly good, but I'm better than your average player. I am actually up against Plonq too fwiw, its not over that many hands, but I am still up vs him, because the style he plays suits me well.

4 months ago you would have been delighted with 500 a week profit from poker- now you are regularly making single bets of more than that, zero BRM leads to going broke, believe me I have learned that the hard way myself.

Thanks.
This has put it into perspective and I appreciate this part. Yes I would have been delighted with 500 a week from poker, as long as it was reliable and relatively variance free. I have been making bets above this ocasionally as well... (I believe since I won my money I've had about 10-15 bets above 400).
Yes you are spot on with the brm. That is why this month I am sticking to playing sit and go's and mtts, no cash whatsoever. I even dropped down from $38 sngs to $27 the other day because my ROR was so high.

ps, I was very tempted to start this thread with just that finger graphic up, but didn't know whether you would take it the right way, or want to kick the ** out of me.

I thought Russ's reply was a little brunt but let it go chill - he's a big softie really.

One thing I would say is that there are players out there (I wish I was one) who do not find it human nature to aim as high as they can, who are very disciplined and are happy with a great solid regular risk free income busting up games that they know they can - one you know is Smart Money. Mike still plays 1/2 (albeit 16 tables at a time) even though he has made 250k clear profit.
Report Lord Highstack April 3, 2008 9:58 PM BST

Smart money is bascially a quality example of what I was saying - he has just moved up to playing 2/4 regularly and I expect him to end at 5/10.

Did I read that there was a player who was in the top 10 best omaha players in the world sitting on 1/2???

If he was in the top 10 then surley he is actualy losing money when he plays 1/2 as he is not maximising his profits as he is far superior to most.

If he was in the top 10 best omaha players in the world surley that would probably make him the best omaha player on Betfair?

not wanting to get into again chillin- no matter how many essays you wish to write. I said opinions are objective and I rate scott very highly. As you correctly say you dont know where hes played or what hes done, you have played a few thousand hands with him. Over the years I have probably played hundreds of thousands of hands with him so I am allowed my oppinion and you're allowed yours. What I snapped at was your "iknoweverything" attitude which has become apparent on the forum in the last few weeks. You didnt say I disagree and I dont think he is in top ten you just said I was incorrect- I am incorrect to have an oppinion? It wasnt a comment even aimed at you but you had to stick your oar in, I was speaking to leeh who again I have known or years. I admire scotts discipline and I wish I had 10% of it- a great player isnt just one who wins the odd big title. I would rather still be in the game in 12 months than win a big title next week and be broke the month after, its taken me many years to realise this and maybe you should try and think about what it would be like to do a real job or 10 an hour or whatever chitty jobs pay.

a few months ago you attempted to ** betfair out of money. You placed a big bet on a golfer and I tried to give you some advice on how to get out of what could have been a sticky situation. You came out smelling of roses and even ended up keeping your ill gotten gains and this now gives you right to have a pop at me and what I believe? Give me your oppinion in say 10 years on who you think is good and who isn't and I will listen to them-I wont just say you are incorrect. When you have at least been round the block once or twice I will listen. I will be surprised if I am totally honest with you if you aint gone bust in the next few months unless you find some discipline- laying Man td the other day??? what a wise waste of a chunk of cash that was.

Ok Ive just finished a nice bottle of red and I dont need to get into it with a kid who has had a great chance and is doing his best to p1ss it all away. At least when dubai or hawko go on tilt and do a chunk they have the talent to win it again (then lose it again /lose it again etc)

Lets say I had 100k to back someone to play omaha with, would I rather give it to scott who will never lose it and make me a steady income or would I give it to milkybarkid who could win me a million.......but and its a big but he could also lose my 100k. You rate milybar higher (and ben is a good mate so I know he wont take it the wrong way and think I dont rate him) whereas i rate scott higher.

Laying Man u Tue night wasn't value at all.
How many times have you seen Roma, or serie A in general this season to be so sure it was value?

You are going canaryboyesque on me--- I never came anywhere near your ring or tried to grab your nuts so dont accuse me of that as well.

there was no need for us to continue a debate as neither my or your opinion is that important. If you disagree with mine then fine- you dont need to start a thread in my name to get your point across again.
