Apart from the football played by a few of the top teams , watching the average gaelic football match  currently is painful .  Hand pass / possession football the culprit . Twas not always thus .

Soccer is no great spectacle either , most of the guys delight in the "sliding tackle" where the objective is to hurt the man in near possession . As for the offside rule , what genius came up with that , virtually impossible to ref that on a professional basis as we see daily , how do you ref a friendly kickabout without a ref , linesmen and video equipment ?

The European rugby final was hard work as a spectator , no sign of a try in 80 minutes . Objective there seems to be attempting to run through/over the opposing player , used to be a game of avoidance .

However the GAA also has the best spectator sport in the world , viz hurling , where the standard is higher than ever .  Just a pity no other country in the world is up to the challenge of playing hurling .
