Ability and Delivery should have absolutely pissed up and was unlucky on two counts, he was beaten by a well-handicapped horse and Kirby gave it an uncharacteristically bad ride not getting after him soon enough.

Not quite an Irish runner in the true sense but having his first run for a new trainer in UK after being careered in Ireland. A few pluses with Lions Charge are Adam Kirby is booked, his mark is at a career low(54 from a high of 71),also a class 6 though his campaigning in Ireland has been very much at the very low end. Minuses would probably be a slight layoff and up against an inform rival. Don't do a lot of UK racing myself these days and very rarely AW over there but this one at 5.3(looks big) seems interesting, anyone with a view?

Three Irish horses going over for a £2.5k pot in Wolves. Shane Donohoe has two in the race, Etaad and Eretara.  Bussa is a first time runner for Butterly having been previously trained by David Evans. There could be some type of a coup going on there today? It will be interesting to watch the betting. Surely when these trainers saw the entries they would have contacted each other.

Ran a cracking race, plenty of 150+ horses well beaten.15 runners and a clear 4th was cruel for ew backers, few sketchy jumps but not bad overall, won't seem the type i'd like going over the Cheltenham fences myself.
Lovely mark of 117 over hurdles and bit unlucky to bump into the improving Oscar Sam last time on that, tis immenient.
Report pa lapsy February 23, 2016 11:34 AM GMT
Given that it is a seller and a class 6, it wouldn't probably be the wisest to go too mad on them but Elliotts pair are interesting at Wolves today for a few reasons.
Both ran well yesterday, i might be wrong but got an impression it was more of a "spin" for them, Dove Mountain made ground from way off the pace to finish 3rd and National Service went odds on I/R and while no exrta at the finish had a slightly troubled passage.
3F extra should suit Dove Mountain a lot better and Arhie Stevens the fav should give National Service a good lead.
Of course the minus is they could well "bounce" after yesterday but surely Elliott would have pulled them out if they aren't "right",for what it is worth i thought they didn't have hard races.
Any thoughts?
Report callitasucit February 23, 2016 4:43 PM GMT
Both should have won.

I backed Dove Mountain! Both days!! He should have won both days too. If yesterday was an average effort in the saddle, today was up with Tom Queelys best f*ck ups. How he got that beat I will never know. I have long said he is utterly useless, and that copperfastened it!

Frankel has been raised a further 14lbs by the official handicapper on the back of it!!
Report pa lapsy February 23, 2016 4:57 PM GMT
Queally was chronic, bad enough losing a dozen lths at the start but to rein him back around when he had the race won by not going through a big enough gap was inexcusable, very poor.
Elliott has done well with these two, very average but a few little touches in the last few months with them.

That post was solely in regards the horse.
Leicester was a bit of an off the wall choice for Gordon, not sure had he ever a runner there but he is walking on water almost lately.

For the thread overall(Ir runners in Eng) you only have to look at to see level stakes wise how badly they do,saying that i always look myself, i think John McConnell is one to watch,he seems to send over a few that struggle at Dundalk but capable over.

Ha, i suppose i have some sensible moments, punting small as disillusioned with exchange for one, still think the winners are around with the usual patience tag.

In keeping with the thread,
R Watson(don't know his 1st name except he is up north) sends one over to Newcastle Thurs, think he is cute enough and the few he sent over have done well, obvious chance formwise, don't think the 7lb extra from last time will be a problem, hard to see it not at least getting a place.

I think it is an interesting idea for a thread myself and no doubt you are selective in picking which ones.

Two obvious points with them, how well did they travel over? you very seldom find out beforehand, positive or negative in the betting may be a guide.

The other point is form is very rarely collated, there are no lines, dangerous to say that a horse that ran well at Dundalk would be above a similar class type at say Wolves. (though i would say yes in the majority, not proven)

On the plus side, very likely they are trained for the race given costs.

Putting on rose tinted specs, there are a few positives,

He is 20-25/1
On weights from past course form he has a chance of finishing in front of Vieux Lion Rouge(also Highland Lodge and at a push Blacklion through that Nat trial last Feb) who are a lot shorter in the betting.
If the National is the plan which i think it is,he has to go up at least around 7lb,not sure is there some clause with this race in regard the Nat and this.

With the specs still on his two runs this season were very poor, historically though hasn't done a lot early in the season.
Maybe Aintree will bring about the best in him and/or at least the amount of finishers could be small.

Probably will have some shrapnel on him,he could run ok.

Despite penalty and further, don't need any specs for Clear Skies tonight, when it looks too good you wonder whar you're missing.

Has raced mostly in topclass races bar last times point where 3m in heavy not ideal, went to Cheltenham last three years and last years hurdle run behind Grand Partner probably the pick of his last half dozen(Lasttolasvegas behind).
Lightly raced maybe a negative would be consistency but the bar has been raised high.Probably for that reason i wouldn't take too short a price, pure guess what price it will be but while they don't race on paper looks the proverbial.
