Wonder when the word "hard" was last in the going description on a racecourse in the UK? My bet is Bath or Brighton would be the course
Report cardifffc March 13, 2018 10:07 PM GMT
i suppose if the ground gets gluey tomoro the times could be slower
Report ph. March 13, 2018 10:27 PM GMT
if ground was genuinely hard now I think it would be called as unsafe for the horses welfare.

Arkle's greatest performance was at Sandown on hard.
Gave Rondetto 26lbs and beat him 20l
Mill House ( receiving 16lbs ) was another 4L behind.
Used to be regularly described as hard at the summer meetings at Newton A and Devon & E.
Hurdler of Walwyn's Mugatpura ran up a huge sequence one summer/early autumn.
Looks to me as though it will be heavy ( genuinely ) for the Gold Cup and a lot of so-called stayers don't actually stay that far in a truly run race at a course like Cheltenham.

Noel Fehily quote last night "The ground started out ok on Tuesday but it got worse as the day progressed and Wednesday will be a struggle."
Report cardifffc March 14, 2018 10:09 AM GMT
think rozel could be right..............remember the irish festival in feb............times were faster than the advertised on the first day  in single figures above standard on soft\heavy ground.............following day races were 20 secs above standard with no rain
