Covers flat & AW racing from March 2016

Have put previous posts on Some Guesses recently, but seem to have a jinx  on there as had too many close 2nd's
It may be my way of interpretation of the races though?

So moving on with my own post

Another blimin 2nd and another that touched very very short odds in running (1.06)
Very well backed and went off As the jolly in the end.
No excuse had every chance n 2nd itus continue's.
Didn't like puds up in class n more weight was one of the first beat.
Tough day for punters  with plenty of shorties beaten today.

Well the Goliath was a complete wash out.

2 wins and 2 placed from 8 picks

A few Place bets helped to reduce the loss
and £30 on Main Street was a good recovery.
5/4 this morning but won at 2/1 with BF.

Tx Virg, Frustrating game at times.

7.30 Newcastle nap Spanish City: Do like the Roger V. and Andrea A. combo at present, stable having a decent start to the season.
Unexposed horse and could well turn out to be reasonably handicapped. Worth a bet on a day nothing really stood out.
But would like to snap out of this string of 2nd's.
Report Pinza May 4, 2018 11:58 AM BST
Thanks Virgin
Mat, you should snap out today as I have Spanish City in my specials, so hope it does win.
Robero is joint though but the system doesn't like ZERO last run. 250 runners at Newc and only 34 wins
4th LTO reads 104 wins from 559 runners
Deadbrain could do the maths on percentages?

3.40 MOSALIM

After a string of 2nd's, i did snap out of it with a bang,
Tipped it up at around 11/4 this morning n smashed into an sp of 5/4
Won well too. Roger and Andrea great combo at present.

Pinza Well done with Trading point plus Great shot Sam was placed.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the vote of confidence.
After a few near misses it can dwell on the mind but this winner is just what i needed before a big weekend.

Tomoz start of the Guineas meeting plus The Kentucky Derrrrrby n got some very strong fancies over the weekend.

I do tend to mix it up a bit.
I'll back a horse anywhere on the planet if its value.
Sometimes it works Sometimes not he he he

1000 Guineas Sunday: Soliloquy 6/1 E/W BoG Best Nap of the Weekend:
The Dogs were barking in Newmarket about this filly before the Nell Gwyn and she didn't disappoint.
Only having to be slightly shaken up to put it to bed with the minimum of fuss,
she apparently was only half cooked n is primed for Sunday According to the trainer.
6/1 is great Value as had her a lot closer to the jolly Happily then the market is showing.
Be very disappointed is she is not fighting it out at the finish.
Will have a saver too on Laurens as she is another filly of real interest this season, plus her form is stacking up well.

The Nap of the day 1.50 Newmarket Sharja Bridge 3/1 BoG.
Going With this combo again as this horse has obvious claims. was more of a 4/1 shot in my book as its a competitive field.
But willing to go in at current price. Good draw + stable in Form.

2000 Guineas Today: Saxon Warrior 4/1 BoG NB: W.Buick could well win this also as Masar is the form horse n has been very well backed today,
However even though get O'Brien's horses more wrong then right do think Saxon could be a little special. unbeaten and his form stacks up stronger on paper to his stable mate Gustav. Plus when it comes to group 1 races Aiden's record speaks for itself. The warrior will be staying up that famous newmarket hill very strongly to pick off Masar.
Worth a little saver too on Headway at 25/1 as the quicker the ground the better and can see him rattling home.

Kentucky Derby 11.50 pm tonight
Got to mention (Justify) and with some bookies offering around 4/1 i think is worth a punt and looks a bit of value as will be shorter in the pools over there......Again positive noise coming from the barn, with a good draw should be hell of a race and worth staying up for.
Sensational line up with plenty with many chance.
G.L. Ryan Moore n Mendelssohnn but the stats are pretty awful for the Euro Raiders.

Happy Punting!

Nap came 2nd and again hit pretty low in running (1.3)
Bit frustrating as Buick out rode Atzeni there.
those 2 were miles clear of the rest.

However reprieve in the 2000 Guineas as i was bang on the money about Saxon Warrior.
Did what i pretty much said in the write up, picked them up n stayed on strongly up that hill.
Ended up having a nice touch on it.
Looks another very exciting Horse and can see why he is Fav for the Derby.

Still got the Kentucky Derrrby to enjoy (Go Go Go Justify!!!!)
+ Big E/W nap tomoz looking a decent price with 7/1 about earlier.

3.55 Naas Cliffs Of Moher Nap: After traveling well in his first run of the season he should strip a lot fitter and really shoud to put this lot away.
He's a bit skinny at around 13/8 but he clearly has strong claims in this group 2. I struggled to find anything of value after the weekend just gone. Not going to get rich on this Nap but it should be a winner and top up the bankroll.

5.05 Naas Imaging NB: should also return to winning ways. Albeit Gutav didn't do much for the form on Saturday but then again I think Mr. Heffernan is good at just making the numbers and pretending he's trying and going through the motion's as its clear Saxon was there real Runner.
So wouldn't read to much into that form and again at around 7/4, Its worth a punt to top up.

2 singles and a double. BoG and they could well drift a bit in the market and can see why the Layers might try n take them on.

The draw will play a part.
I only recall the widest draw winning many years ago by Jack Berry on G/F
Good to soft/good in places is not simple to work out, but if good to soft we are looking for alow number

Mick Channon sent Archers Row here in 2009 with form 2112
and finished 2nd but came up against 3 winner Star Rover
Today the form for his runner KINKS is 211 and is now a non runner (but draw 11)

That leaves NO LIPPY with a great chance having won on soft at Donny

2.35 Longchamp 2000 Guineas Wooton 2/1 BoG Nap: The trial on the 15th of April looks a key piece of form. Having watched the race the Two market leaders in the race pulled well clear of the rest including a Rostropovich who bolted up earlier in the week at Chester albeit slightly up in distance. But these two look way ahead on anything else in this field. Olmedo Could well reverse the form and is technically the value But i prefer horses with unbeaten records and one's next to their name as olmedo has a few two's next to his name where as Wooton knows where the winning line is. Another reason is Also on jockeys prefer Barzalona to Demuro Even though Mikel occasionally throws in a stinker, but on the whole on the big stage he is top class.

3.15 Longchamp Musis Amcica 4/1 BoG NB: in the 1000 Will stick with The genius Mr. Fabre. again in the Trial The selection done it comfortably enough even though i backed his other one Wind Chimes and they will both improve a lot. Polydream on a line with Laurens should be clear Fav on my book and has the best Group 1 form. Freddy Head can ready one first time out, but The Fabre stable is in great form and swings it for me in what looks to be a fairly open race. Mikel Do the Double for Godolphin.

Have to mention Brendan Bracken at Leopardstown after Ripp orf and Bye Bye baby both Napped a couple of weeks ago  on here and winning easy yesterday.
Likewise Brendan was napped a couple of weeks ago and I wouldn't be surprise if that goes and wins today.

Happy Punting And Go Go Go Godoplhin At Longchamp!
Report Mat22 May 13, 2018 4:14 PM BST
Deary me! I think will keep it short on here but Going off Mr.Barzalona Rapidly.
In the 2000G the ground didn't help as it was awful and slippery no wonder they crawled round which didn't help Wooton. Amazed he still finished so close.
In the 1000G way to far back and going that wide round the whole field take some doing.
one of those weekends.
Will leave it at that.

Report Pinza May 14, 2018 5:31 PM BST
Boom (as Mat would say)
drifted from the morning at 6/1 to 10/1 and noticed it had been well backed since
It seems I have to add another system to my already full book!

Looking at past races the ratings this race favoured 5th in ratings and geldings best.
Manor Park fitted the bill but didn't put it up as it was just a tester.
Need to go back to past ratings now and see if it works again
Report Mat22 May 14, 2018 5:38 PM BST
Hi pinza,
Tx for the email will respond a bit later been a busy day.
Just get my two picks in for tonight.
Going with one of yours Tonight.

Nap: 6.50 Wind: ( Oh This Is Us ) Looks a decent little contest, With Arod and The grey Sovereign Dept sure to make it a close affair. However Hannon knows what sort of animal he needs to win this and his Meydan handicap form reads pretty good for this progressive horse.

NB: 6.20 Win ( Udontdodou ) With the dead 8 running looks a bet to nothing to hit the frame at 9/2 E/W just to be on the save side but i think it will win back on Turf. The jolly looks short enough in the market plus not a big fan of the trainer don't see him getting that many winners.

Nice 1 with Manor Park! Boom's are Good lets hope i can shout a Boom too! Laugh
Report Pinza May 14, 2018 6:05 PM BST
Good Luck Mat
It was a tossup for me between Oh This is us and Sovereign Debt. Both came out top.
Both have same weight and both distance win.
Logic says Oh This is us over a 9yo but there is a break to take into account
and Sovereign has both spots and Oh This is us has both next best.

I can always cash in as it is the last race.

Nap 2nd, another one to add to the pile of seconds ive had on this thread.
Traded only as short as 1.64 n running which makes a change of trading 1/10 on or shorter.
Same for NB dead heated for 2nd as the jolly romped home.

Not bad for my low stakes.

Good going 500 is not to be sniffed at considering your low stakes.
Struggled today to bang one on here so left it alone.
Almost did your Maypole but even that worried me after last night at Windsor Hannon/Marquand Combo.

Keep up the good Work.

4.35 Isabella 13/2 e/w Nap : Front running at York can be a great advantage if they don't go silly and this Horse could well have an easy time of it up front and make all. Looks a progressive type and could well try and get some black type later in the season if all goes to plan today.

5.50 Koditime 4/1 NB: Trainer going well and according to stable tour fast going is what it needs and has that today and bold show first time up expected. won first time out last season. Ryan Moore in the plate clear claims.

Well done Mat. Back on right trail I hope!

I'm not a fan of form 12. ie a win followed by 2nd
The strike rate is very poor (4yo 49 wins from 392 runners)
but would have to check again for 112

O'Brien Filly with the allowance looks very interesting.
Addyebb n beat the Bank also very progressive horses and are worth their place.

Plus my American Friend (Justify) who done me a very good turn in the Kentucky Derrrrrby runs tomoz eve.
