I don't think it is.

a decent horse or ground dependant?
Report jmdc January 13, 2018 2:33 PM GMT
A pity Malcolm Jefferson seems in a desperate state of health.
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:35 PM GMT
he's been ill for some time jmdc
hopefully today has put a smile on his face

Doesn't look ground dependent to me - coped with the good to soft perfectly well there.

With these two and Cloudy Dream and Mount Mews he's got some real Cheltenham and Aintree prospects
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:43 PM GMT
its january g/s, soft places

totally different to bouncy spring ground

they've repeatedly said he wants significant cut in the ground
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:46 PM GMT
I presume its related to treatment for bad joints after races???

certainly travels like a horse that would relish good ground but I will trust the trainer's judgement over people on here
Report duncan idaho January 13, 2018 2:54 PM GMT
they may think it's ground dependent and it might turn out to be ground dependent but there's nothing in the formbook to suggest that it is
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 3:04 PM GMT
the quickest ground he has run on was at donny when a young horse and with KR, running to the low 120s
since then he has been fairly lightly raced and kept to predominately soft or soft side of g/s ground and has run to over 140 every time (160+ the last twice)

trav smoothly and btn only by Cloudy Dream no less on 2nd career start
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 3:34 PM GMT
yes I know but he still ran to the low 120s
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 3:37 PM GMT
going stick readings

donny 7.7
today 5.9

there is no form in the book that shows WP running to 160+ on a sound surface which he will need to do to be competitive in the ryanair
(I'm not for a minute saying he isn't capable of doing that)
Report duncan idaho January 13, 2018 3:49 PM GMT
we look at things differently...leave it at that
Report differentdrum January 13, 2018 4:21 PM GMT
Chances are the ground won't be on the quick side of good and who knows one day it might be soft.

I would be more concerned as a first timer about him handling the track.

That said the 10/1 looks relatively big as for me today's effort is the best form on offer.
