OMG. Been waiting patiently myself for him to run and didn't he deliver. Ryanair?

That Man Jefferson does it again.Plain

absolutely EF!!
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:14 PM GMT
be careful with A/P bets this horse must have significant dig in the ground

maybe claisse will oblige and produce genuine g/s for the thurs
Report ReaseHeath January 13, 2018 2:16 PM GMT
^ good point - exciting though ain't he? Could be a King George horse by the ned of this year...
Report 1st time poster January 13, 2018 2:17 PM GMT
softish ground the narth will also have sam spinner
Report Barton Bank January 13, 2018 2:19 PM GMT
Really good horse that, very taking display.
Report dunlaying January 13, 2018 2:20 PM GMT
He is a Gold Cup horse.
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:21 PM GMT
long way to go but yes he could well end up being aimed at the KG
just hope he isn't overfaced in the spring by running at more than 1 festival or on unsuitably quick ground (given the trainer don't think he will)
if they've got to miss obvious targets because things are not quite right they usually miss them
Report pixie January 13, 2018 2:23 PM GMT
I'm with Dunlaying, if I owned it I'd want to go for the Gold Cup.
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:24 PM GMT
2018 or future?
Report sageform January 13, 2018 2:26 PM GMT
Looks all speed to me.
Report Barton Bank January 13, 2018 2:28 PM GMT
He's done nothing to suggest he wants three and a quarter miles round Cheltenham. Fully aware he hasn't been given the chance to show his stamina yet but I would be surprised if he stayed that far.
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:30 PM GMT
travels too well for it BB and the race would ruin him imo
can perfectly understand the KG as a target though
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:32 PM GMT
no talent up north apparently

Dont want to put a dampner on a very good performance but the form  doesn't amount to a hill of beans.Plain
Report Barton Bank January 13, 2018 2:35 PM GMT
Gods Own doesn't really stay but the second is a useful enough sort and he's beaten him pointless.
Report wondersobright January 13, 2018 2:38 PM GMT
accept the point that there were has beens in that race but every horse in the race was rated 150+ and he's absolutely demolished them
jumping and travelling like a dream
Report ReaseHeath January 13, 2018 2:40 PM GMT
very similar in style to his win at Carlisle, only his 3rd run in 12 months so he's well named.

Not entered in the Gold Cup
Report dunlaying January 13, 2018 2:58 PM GMT
Not yet Rease but there is still time.
Report ReaseHeath January 13, 2018 3:01 PM GMT
I don't think he'll go there this year dunlaying but maybe further down the line - although it's hard enough predicting what'll happen in the next race, let alone more than 12 months' time
Report sageform January 13, 2018 3:15 PM GMT
Puts the defeat of Politologue into perspective though. Nicholls didn't think that Politologue stayed that day but was he taking on something special?

Stable reported to be aiming for the Game Spirit to test his speed prior to choosing between Champion Chase and Ryanair so hold your bets.
Report ashleigh January 14, 2018 5:40 PM GMT
thought the aim was the ascot chase?
Report sixtwosix January 14, 2018 5:52 PM GMT
Forget the festival and win the Martell Cup in second gear if I owned it.
Report sageform January 14, 2018 5:58 PM GMT
Ascot chase if the going at Newbury is unsuitable apparently. No doubt they will change their minds a few times but they have a nice problem to deal with and there seems no chance of him running over 3 miles any time soon. With my ante post Politologue hat on, I hope he goes for the Ryanair.
Report differentdrum January 14, 2018 7:11 PM GMT
Where are quotes regarding his next run?

The speed option looks crazy to me, particularly as he has no experience around Cheltenham. One mistake and it could easily be game over. That could wreck the horse. The Champion Chase is not going to be easier to win than a Ryanair.

He clearly runs very well off a break so I can't see why the sensible option isn't just to say we are putting him away and he will go straight to the Ryanair. If he handles the track he has every chance of winning that race.
Report asparagus January 14, 2018 7:41 PM GMT
I agree with Sixtwosix. He looks an Aintree horse to me and then King george next season.
Report differentdrum January 14, 2018 8:06 PM GMT
Unless you have backed Un De Sceaux (or something else) why would anyone suggest missing the Festival?

He has no experience of Cheltenham but who knows he might relish the track. No guarantee of slower ground at Aintree and the opposition is more of an unknown.

Cheltenham and Aintree are chalk and cheese. If you own a horse with the ability to win a Grade 1 at Cheltenham why would you go to Aintree? Surely you would only go Aintree if you knew you couldn't win at Cheltenham?
Report differentdrum January 20, 2018 9:54 AM GMT
Pleased to see they have ruled out the shorter option. Seems it will be the Ascot Chase and possibly Ryanair if they think the ground is suitable. Let's hope it is.
