amazingly, I think he is a bit of a musical genius as well. I remember reading his Father was a very good conductor.

His info on the Attheraces webs site says that he was a Quirister at Winchester College once appearing on the BBC.( http://www.attheraces.com/article/207601).

The Quiristers, or "Qs" are they are colloquially known, who sing the treble line for the choir, are all awarded choral scholarships at The Pilgrims' School, close to the college itself(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_College_Chapel_Choir)
He may have been at the Pilgrim school on a scholarship.

Most people with his level of confidence are public schoolboys. Do they tell them how great they are from a young age?

Ten years or so ago when Matt worked for the Racing Post,, he was known as Spoony because the staff knew he was born with Silver Spoon in his mouth.
