After weeks of problems & no word from BF
Today up pops a service announcement saying they are now aware of probs (due to us users) & trying to fix
In it it mentions Chrome as the go to for sending info
No mention of Firefox, IE etc
This has been the case before when i have contacted them
Told to use Chrome
Java update yesterday hinted that it is now not compatible with Firefox plug ins

One browser state coming ?

What do you need Java for on Betfair ?  I haven't had a Java enabled pc for 20+ years.
Report timeless April 21, 2017 10:52 AM BST
you would think that with their might of wealth, Betfair would be able to employ IT people or get one of the giants to set up their own browser and be done with it all

after suddenly going from ok to having glitches on internet explorer betfair told me to switch to chrome so i did and it's now completely unstable Cry

When I changed from cable to Talk Talk some time ago (major blunder.) I found that Betfair was running far too slow on IE. Changing to Chrome put this right.

Then a couple of years ago I bought a new faster computer and Betfair runs fine on IE.

You are obviously a smarterarse than myself ST

In my hazy days of yor developing webpages there was a need to make accesible to all platforms etc
If Java have pulled the plug on Firefox plug ins so to speak what else has been missed
Is Firefox not going to be supported by others ?

Point being they seem to be focusing solely on Chrome
& as has been said on many threads
Not very well !!

I just tried Firefox.
I logged in okay and the Forum button was there as well.
Including the option to change to classic once I was on the forum.

Yet it wouldn't let me post.

After over a week having really bad problems with both Firefox and Chrome,Firefox was working perfectly well yesterday. I haven't done anything but not going to risk trying Chrome while Firefox works tbh.

SS you must be a technical wizard the way you manage to run Betfair on that old Commodore 64 of yours.
Report Smar Tarse April 21, 2017 12:31 PM BST
madhatters - apologies if i have misunderstood your original post Blush  i thought you were saying Java wont be available as a plug-in for Firefox users and therefore you will no longer be able to use Firefox with the Betfair site Confused
Report timeless April 21, 2017 12:43 PM BST
I think he meant he likes to use Firefox as a browser and needs Java for porn !
Report onlooker April 21, 2017 12:53 PM BST
madhatters - It is the other way around.

FIREFOX has stopped supporting most PlugIns.
----------------

Smar Tarse - A few years ago - I could not get the Market GRAPHS/Ladder to Display - and other people lost the Silks/Colours display.

I remember another poster advising that there had just been a Java Release/Update.

After updating Java - everything returned to normal - for everybody.

Coincidence, or necessity?

Sorry to disappoint yoo Crippen but I have a two months old Lenovo. The speakers are crap though    Sad

Not the speakers - salmon ...

It is those old 78s that you are playing.

Hes still wondering why they won't fit in the disc drive Grin

Splitting hairs with the wording on my part i guess

Seems a strange decision from the 'Peoples' browser Firefox not to keep up with the latest

No IT expert here
& don't see why we should have to be

What sites do you recommend timeless ?

using firefox on mac and no probs at all
Report Smar Tarse April 21, 2017 3:10 PM BST
Onlooker - i don't understand how updating Java fixed the Market GRAPHS/Ladder Display, none of that uses the Java programming language.

What!

How can you afford that?
Report Dr Crippen April 22, 2017 1:12 PM BST
Hey SS if you're running a new computer, how are you getting on with the new RacingPost site?

It's dead slow for me. It's hopeless now.
It just jumped to Monday's cards while I was looking at the scoop six. I never clicked anything.

I though if you're having problems with a new computer, then we've no chance with ones a couple of years old.
